Review from Mike T.
Just getting in from another overnight stay in Ottawa at the Cartier Place. This was my second time staying at the hotel and both visits were great! I searched all over Ottawa looking for the perfect hotel.. clean, good location, and cheap! Hey I had to save my $ for drinking!
The standard suites are perfect for 4 people.. even though we crammed 6 in! A full kitchen, with appliances/dishes/utensils included, a large bedroom, and very nice living room area all made our stay enjoyable. All of the rooms have a balcony, so make sure you ask for one overlooking Cooper Street, and as high up as possible. From up there you can get a nice glimpse of downtown Ottawa.
The staff was very friendly, and younger, which came in handy when asking about the local bar/club scene. The main nightlife is Ottawa is located in The Market, and is just a short cab ride from the hotel. However, if you just walk out the front of the Cartier, you can find some of the best bars right on Elgin Street.
The only problem I ran into at the Cartier was the lack of hotel parking. If you are trying to avoid the 15$ parking garage fee, your options are limited. There are about 30 parking spots in front of the hotel (free on the weekends), but they fill up fast. The Cartier is located in a rather nice section of the city, so once I finally found a spot, I felt secure leaving my car overnight.
If you are traveling from the States to enjoy all of Ottawa's nightlife, the Cartier is the perfect place to stay.
Liked -- The location! It was perfectly situated in the city. Easy to get to everything.
Disliked -- Parking! Ahhh!! Not many spaces available, and expensive parking pass. -

Ottawa, ON
I stayed here for a couple of days with some friends. We were a group of 5 so we rented a suite with two bedrooms, a couch in the living room, a kitchenette, and a balcony. We found a deal online and it was incredibly cheap. We found out later that this hotel is also a residence for long-term stay, so they offer daily, weekly, and monthly rates.
The hotel clerk was very nice and helpful and even offered to put our luggage in a small storage room while we waited for the right check-in and check-out times.
The suite itself was nothing fancy, but good enough. It was very simple, without very much decor, and the decor that was there was unbelievably outdated. The beds were hard, but the pillows were soft. What we appreciated the most was the refrigerator, microwave, and sink, as well as the balcony for those that smoked. We didn't expect too much for the price that we were paying, but it was definitely a steal. -

Great location!! Plenty to eat and do around the hotel if your only method of transportation is your own two feet. My only compliant with the hotel is the bed is hard as a rock and the sheets are like sandpaper. Think I am better off sleeping on the floor
