It may not go together like white on rice, but when I'm craving some Eatery sushi time, I choose to go earlier rather than later just so I can get a whiff of the book smell. You know the one I'm referring to, a delightful blend of dusty, musty, attic-like aromas mixed with the pulp and paper. I wish I could bottle that up! But I digress...

There is order and organization here - you just have to sniff it out! Stacks of books might look out of place at the end a shelf, but that just might be where you'll find the newest addition to the store's collection. Old, newish, best sellers and old classics line the walls here. I would reckon you could find a 1970s cook book from Betty Crocker here!

Mmmmmm...sushi, the smell of the 70s and a good book -- nothing beats it ;)

Standing on the sidewalk you wouldn't know the extent of the record collection that lies inside this store. Pass the discount pile of records near the door (likely filled with Nana Mouskouri LPs) and head to the back of the shop.

I really enjoy the organized layout of this record section. It's easy to flip through the LPs and, unlike in a thrift store, you can actually get a good idea of the titles in stock. Prices are a little higher than a buck-a-piece, but you'll find far more in less time here than at Value Village. Expect to pay about $5 a record, but prices do vary widely.

The clerk wasn't too chatty on the last day I was there, but sometimes that's just how bookstore folk are. Carson Books and Records also has plenty of paperbacks and hardcovers, although if literature is your thing head up Dunbar to the other location of Carson Books.

I am reviewing this place strictly as a record shop and in that sense it is just the pits.

totally horrible, picked over selection and anything of marginal interest is priced so high its not worth even thinking about. serious collectors will be seriously bummed out by this place.

the fellow who runs it is kind and will play records if you want to hear them. i just wish he'd get some good records inand throw out those stacks of garbage or donate them or whatever.
