What a great place! Centrally located to everything. Very easy to get to/from. Friendly staff and very secure environment. Stayed in the standard queen suite, which was more like a 1br apartment. Nice open living/dining room with dining table, couch, and coffee table and full kitchen. Great balcony with amazing view of the city. There are no buildings higher than 4-6 stories on the south side so the view is amazing. Very clean. Highly highly recommend.

Overall, I liked my stay at the Carmana. The price isn't awesome, but it's a better deal than a hotel room.
Pros:
-great location: so close to shopping, restraunts, banks, grocery stores
-spacious!
-friendly staff
Cons:
-parking: Their garage is hard to find and you have to circle down and down and down before you hit the hotel's parking area (they share with other businesses)
-elevators: sooooo slow! They have 3 different sizes too. You never know which one you get. Sometimes you have to wait and wait for one that will work for you.
Next time I visit Vancouver, I'll consider the Caramana again -

What a wonderful surprise. I chose this hotel because of its location. Simple, clean lobby. Very welcoming staff. My room was actually a whole apartment with a gorgeous view and a balcony. The room decor was a little dated, but everything was clean and it good repair. Highly recommended.

This is the BEST place to stay while in Vancouver! It isn't a hotel in the traditional sense, but more like a serviced condo. You get all the conveniences of a both a hotel and home. Here's my notes:
1. Amazing location (across the street from Shangri-La, one street from Robson), walkable to anywhere downtown
2. Stay includes parking, internet, nice exercise room
3. Reasonable rates -- if you belong to an association like the CPSA, the rates are even better ($115-140/night)
4. Massive units! Your "hotel" room is more like a one-bedroom condo, in the 600 sq ft range (some units have balconies)
5. Nice views in any direction
6. They care about your business, unlike major hotel chains
7. Friendly professional staff; booking, check-in, and housekeeping is top notch
8. Excellent place to stay, especially if more than a day or two
9. For the price, it's in a class of its own in Vancouver

Our downtown location epitomizes the definition of being central: with over 50 restaurants/cafes within a 2 block radius, a gourmet grocery across from us, a block away from Robson Street and high fashion boutiques along Alberni (Burberry, Tiffany & Co., Hermes and Louis Vuitton, to name a few), close to the business/financial/entertainment districts and only a 10 minute walk to the Cruise Terminal and Vancouver Convention Centre.
