I go here pretty often because it's a casual and fine environment to go with friends and I mean, who doesn't love nachos. Their food isn't fantastic but I do enjoy it for the most part when I'm there.

Their quesadilla is not good... hands down. I usually love quesadillas so i figured I'd give theirs a shot as something light (since the friend i was with hates nachos with a passion so we couldn't share) it was really bad. The cheese had no flavour it was pretty much just bland uncooked uncrispy tortilla with blah cheese in the centre and that's it.

Theirs wings are really though. I'd tried them a couple times and it had taken a while to get used to but now I really like them though the do only have the two flavours.

Their nachos and bean dip are great portions, the bean dip is HUGE and for a great price we were completely shocked when it came to the table. It's not great mexican food but it's not bad either you just have to learn what to try and what to avoid. It is affordable and the atmosphere is rustic and fun. The service is also quick, good and very reliable.

It's not my favorite restaurant considering I hate Mexican food but I went because everyone else wanted to go. We went for lunch on a Saturday and my waitress so did not want to be there. She only refilled our water when we requested her / shouted for her when she wasn't hiding and my sister-in-law needed a new glass because hers was covered in gross. Thankfully they had a few options for people who don't like Mexican but my burger was mediocre. I ordered a bacon burger and it ended up having "Canadian" bacon on it instead of a piece of yummy salty stripy goodness. There was also no ketchup and by the time we saw her again and called her over my burger was cold. Everyone else at the table got various Mexican dishes and they all really enjoyed their food. I don't think I will be going back though.

I love this place.  Dark, dated, and great times!  If you're looking for casual Mexican, this is the spot!  You don't need to spend too much time focusing on the condition of the floor or walls...just enjoy the good times and good food!

Being a Texan that moves back and forth between here and there of course their Mexican food is not going to be up to par with me.  However I do have to give them credit for trying and doing a fine job in what they do have to offer.

My biggest food complaint is their queso that is always made with cheddar cheese.  Definitely not used to that.  It's just kind of strange for me.  And I guess my other big complaint is the omission of the option of freshly sliced jalapenos.  I've been known to bring my own, hehe.

I do like their atmosphere and most of their food offerings, and the waitstaff has always been very attentive and friendly.  I enjoy going to Carlos and Murphy's and would recommend it to someone with no previous Mexican food experience.  Ah hell, I'd recommend it to anyone visiting or living in Winnipeg, haha.

I heard this was the best mexican food in da peg.....errrrr wrong...well maybe in the peg.
But I was not impressed at all
the salsa flavorless and resembled tomato paste with chili powder
They managed to find jalapenos with zero flavor
The premixed margaritas were weak and fake.

Although it's hard to get Mexican food in winnipeg, Carlos and Murphys is not the answer. Horrible food (canned salsa, horrible guac) and a beer list which is outshined by a cooler outside a motor-home. If you find this food tastes good, stop smoking those cigs and get your taste buds back.

This place is good for appetizers and beers, but their Tex-Mex is really bad. I went there for lunch once and ordered some sort of enchilada plate and it was very mushy without a lot of flavour. My mom ordered a mushroom burrito and the inside wasn't cooked properly and was cold in the middle.
