I was a tad leary of this place when I first walked in too. The staff seemed kind of stand offish at first.
I did end up getting a gorgeous dress here for $500 including the alterations!! During all of the fittings, I got to talking with many of the staff, and I realized that their uneasy nature is due to the fact that they are located in the heart of downtown Edmonton, and that they have tons of looky-loos pass through everyday....not to mention some pan-handlers and would be merchandise snatchers.
After they saw that I was indeed a serious customer, I was treated very respectably. The alterations were always finished on time, and the price never changed from what I was told it would be.
I would go back here anytime! -

Like Francesca K., I went into Career Girl Bridal because I was in the neighbourhood. Unlike Francesca, I wasn't even made welcome to browse on my own even though I am getting married in 5 months and I was ready and willing to spend some money.
When I walked into the store, which had no customers at the time, the two employees remained seated in armchairs and didn't stand up to greet me. I was asked if they could help me, and I asked after a specific type of veil. At this point, one of the women stood up to keep me by the door and I was turned away as a customer:
"We only sell to people who buy our dresses. We only do matchy-matchy here."
It was made clear that I was not welcome to even browse unless I intended to buy everything, from dress to dainties to accessories. They did not ask if I already had a dress, or if my bridesmaids had dresses, or make any attempt at all to entice me to spend my money. They could have had my business for everything had they not been exclusionary and rude in that snobby polite dismissive kind of way that seems common to many bridal shops. However, even stores that are usually by appointment only for consultants have always let me browse on my own.
I could almost understand getting the cold shoulder had I been really dressed down or had a jeans-and-tshirt teenager look to me, because I know the type of people who loiter around Jasper Avenue aren't always the most desirable to many of the business. However, I'm a late-20-something professional who was dressed in a nice business skirt and blouse. Evidently, they don't actually want career women in their store.
"No, we won't take your money in exchange for our goods and you're not allowed to even look at our goods" is the most baffling business practice I've ever encountered. -

I stepped into this store the other day to look around while I wasting time downtown. The place seemed a little dated and unglamourous compared to some other wedding dress places (maybe I watch to much of "Say Yes to the Dress" and expect something unattainable) but I have never been tempted to look in this store. I only did it in the name of research and in the name if Yelp!
The name threw me off for starters: Career Girl Bridal? It sounds like a place where prostitutes shop. No offence to the owners, that was just my first thought when I looked at the sign.
This place does not look entirely clean or updated and I didn't have anyone help. I think the woman could tell I wasn't serious, so this is probably why I wasn't offered help.
I won't be going back here when I AM serious. -

Career Girl Bridal was one of the store I visited looking for a wedding dress. I found the shop itself a bit dated and not entirely clean-feeling, but there were many nice dresses and the service was good.
Their prices seemed were lower than other places; they seem to focus more on lower-priced dresses. Some dresses seemed to be lacking a bit in quality, but most were very nice. -

My girlfriend bought her wedding dress here. When we first walked in I was doubtful. The shopâs kind of old and worn-looking from the outside, with mannequins that look like they had their glory days in the â80s. But inside there are racks upon racks of wedding dresses, many of which are too sparkly, poofy or lacy, but plenty which are actually very beautiful. The designer snob in me stood corrected. It was the first shop we went into looking, and by the ninth dress my pal had found her gown. We were all gobsmacked, because my dear friend is incredibly picky and I thought for sure weâd be trying on dresses for months. The prices here are also very reasonable. My girlfriendâs gown was under $1,000 and she could have gone cheaper. The ladies at this shop were great and excellent to deal with for fittings, shoe dying, etc. We ended up getting our bridesmaid dresses here too. There was quite a selection and they gave us a discount for buying everything here. Donât be fooled by the front window. It doesnât have to be from Vera Wang to be a fairytale gown.

I agree with previous reviews--it does not look like anything special from the window display, but once you start trying on the dresses, you will be blown away by their tasteful styles and bargain prices. My budget was $500 and I found a gorgeous wedding dress that was red-carpet worthy within my budget!. The service was attentive and experienced. Cathy's expertise was extremely helpful--she picked the dress I ended up buying. She also offered wise advice regarding colour: Even though all the dresses I tried on were ivory, I was originally set on ordering my dress in white, as my skin is a darker tone, but she convinced me to try on a true white dress to confirm her suspicion that white would look worse, and ivory would look much better, even with my darker skin. I thought I had decided on my dress at West Ed Mall during a previous shopping trip, but all the dresses I found at Career Girl were more beautiful than any of the ones (within my budget) at WEM.

I highly recommend this place! Like the others two reviews mentioned...the outside of the place, and the inside may throw you off at first! It does look outdated and a little shady. However...the women here were WONDERFUL!! I walked in looking for a bridesmaid dress for my girls..and only gave them the style number and designer and they whipped my dress off the rack in seconds! Incredible! I also had the pleasure of working with "Lilly" who was so so so helpful! She gave me her "honest" opinion of how wedding gowns looked on me, and didn't try to upsell me on anything. I told her I was a frugal bride and she gave me lots of tips and advice in order to accomplish that. It was such a nice change from those high end prissy wedding stores! ugh! I felt so relaxed and at ease! I was able to wonder around the store and grab whatever dresses I wanted and take off to the change room. No one breathing down my neck...just the check ins to help me do up a dress or offer a wanted opinion! Made my experience lovely! Go here!
