Native Canadians do not often realize how difficult it is for immigrants to land professional jobs here, due to Canadian xenophobia and protectionism (both present but largely unacknowledged) in the workplace, especially in the private sector.
This organization's CareerBridge program helps place immigrants in internship programs, many leading to permanent positions. I am now working for the first time in Canada, thanks to their help in getting me an internship. They also have two other programs, one for disabled people and one for new college grads. If you fall into any of the three categories and are looking for work, please check them out.
