The Sapadilla cleaning products and bamboo air freshners are extraordinary!

I had to clean a fridge which was unplugged and it could not have had the worst item on earth sitting in it for two months but bluecheese!  You can imagine the smell - maggots would have gagged on the smell!  I however, figured that I would tackle the job and try to clean the fridge and odour out.  I started with a general hybrid super power cleanser that just about knocked me out but did not kill the odour.  So, I then went to baking soda and vinegar.  The vinegar did temper the odour somewhat.  I figured my last try would be the products from Carbon and if they did not work then the fridge would have to be discarded.  I spoke to one of the ladies that worked at Carbon and told her my predicament.  She was not a high pressure sales type person but she did recommend the Sapadilla products.  I was somewhat skeptical, thinking that a product surely must need some kind of 'killing' action in order to work.  I purchased the Lavender sapadilla cleanser which smells heavenly and worked like a charm.  I could not  believe it because the product is mostly comprised of essential oils and as mentioned above, I thought a product required a toxic component to work.  I was so pleasantly surprised, I am now completely sold over to using all 'natural' cleansers.

I should also mention, Carbon sells these wonderful bamboo air freshners and I put these in the fridge as well.

Carbon is not as high priced as one might think for a eco-friendly specialized boutique.  The bedding and towels are competively priced and I would much rather purchase an organic cotton at the same or slightly higher cost than a run of the mill...cotton.
Also, the boutique has nice beauty corner, a bit of cookware, stuff for your kitty and dog, toxic free paint, flooring, baby stuff, clothing for big people, candles, really cool and funky clocks, etc.: just a lot of really neat stuff and nice people that service the counter!

Stumbled across this little shop walking back from A Taste of Edmonton. I really like the concept of everything being so environmentally friendly. I think my favorite part of this little store was all the indoor gardens you could grow. I definitely want to try and grow some Sunflowers and Herbs.

There is a wide range of product in this store ranging from baby stuff, to books, plants, skin care, recycled bags, you name it and they probably have it.

I really liked the environment in the store, it was so serene and quaint. It's definitely not one of those stores that is loud and the shopkeeper is annoying.

I can't wait to go back!

Carbon is one of the coolest little shops in Edmonton.

First cool thing: it has a little bit of everything. It's kind of like a general store. There's home decor and housewares, baby stuff, skin care, books, all of it.

Second even cooler thing: it's all environmentally friendly! The beauty products are organic, things are recycled, etc.

In my experience, staff here are always friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.

It's no secret that I love shopping, but I also love the earth, so I'm very happy to have found Carbon!

I've walked down 104th street several times, always stopping to look into the window of Carbon. Unfortunately, it's usually closed when I walk by, but today I had the chance to go inside and I wasn't surprised by how great the little shop is.

Carbon offers tons of environmental-friendly products - from gifts, housewares, body and skin care products, toys and books, cosmetics, home-reno materials and foods such as candies and tea. All of the brands and products shown were all legitimately earth-friendly, no fake promises or hidden fine prints. They had a lot of very 'cute' and eyecatching products that you can't seem to find elsewhere - water powered clocks, bamboo cutlery, windowsill flower/herb growing kits, green and organic baby toys, etc.

The sales associate working in the store (who I believe may have been the owner) was extremely friendly and so approachable, but didn't mind me wandering around silently, browsing away. The store itself was clean and organized - a very pleasant atmosphere to shop in. There was so much to see and I really enjoyed my shopping experience.

Prices are a little higher, which is to be expected in a place that prides itself on selling the best products. I definitely felt like the stock was chosen with great care and thought.

If you are looking for an earth-friendly product for yourself or a gift for a friend, Carbon Environmental Boutique is a fun, eco-loving place to go.

Shopping for recycled and environmentally friendly products made easy. This place has everything from washable swiffers, wooden children's toys, biodegradable soaps and more. I love the feel and vibe of this place, and the owner is super friendly and helpful. I highly recommend you check this place out if you're looking for a place to shop for green products.

I love this shop! It's got a little bit of everything, so whether you want to browse organic beauty and home products, buy some dark, natural chocolate or shop from a wide selection of eco-friendly home-reno paints, flooring, countertops, etc. Carbon has got it.

The John Masters hair and body products are amazing, especially the Honey & Hibiscus Hair Reconstructor Shampoo and the Rosemary & Peppermint Detangler. They smell good enough to eat and work effectively, unlike some organic products, for which you have to compromise product function for product philosophy & ethics.

Carbon also has a selection of organic fabrics for bedding, non-toxic products for baby & nursery and a variety of household cleaners and green laundry products.

If you're looking to lighten your footprint by going green, this shop will give you lots of ideas for how to do it. There is even a small library to sit and browse through books and mags on environmental issues and green living.

Looking for a cute, little gift for a client or friend? There are oodles of items, like recycled notepads, pencils made from tree branches (with the bark still on), soy candles and more. Prices are what you'd expect for being an eco-friendly store - higher than average, but these days people still expect to pay more for green products and a clear consumer conscience.

What a great shop.  I love it.

They carry some wonderful products, as the other reviewers have mentioned, and the staff are knowledgeable and helpful.  It seems like all their products are thoroughly researched because I didn't see any of the pseudo-green brands in store.  Just the stuff that is proven.

My friend and I browsed the store for nearly an hour and talked to the staff about their environmentally friendly carpets.  They have samples you can touch and catalogs for pricing.  My friend also fell in love with a couch they have for sale.  We both picked up some reclaimed wood picture frames which were beautiful.

They carry Green Beaver products, though they don't have a huge selection of these, and no shampoo/condition by them, which is too bad.

The John Masters products smelled amazing but were too pricey for me.  Maybe next time.  I wish I had read Jenn P's review before I went, since she says they really work.  I may have picked some up.

Very cool shop serving a great purpose.

Great "eco" boutique featuring all sorts of gifts, personal items, and even renovation supplies!

I bought some organic soap from here and it's awesome.  Definitely worth a look.

Carbon is fantastic eco-boutique in downtown Edmonton. It's filled with fantastic gift ideas (stationery, cards, journals), as well as purses, make-up, and cleaning products. There is also a section at the back of the store dedicated to green parenting, which is fantastic to see. This is must-see store for anyone looking to lead a more eco-friendly life through organic and recycled/recyclable products!

Also, keep in mind that the downtown City Market takes place in front of this store, so you can do even more local shopping.

I love Carbon for unique and eco-friendly gifts. This is my go-to place for reusable shopping bags and lunch bags, as well as nifty little notebooks (there's one you can PLANT and it will GROW a herb or flower!) and novelty items: satchels made out of seatbelts, bowls made out of magazines, and candle holders made out of old bottles. They also have a huge selection of paint that I have yet to purchase and try, but I like the idea of decorating in VOC-free fashion. The back corner of the store holds a gorgeous collection of baby things, so if your friend has an organic bun-in-the-oven, Carbon is your source for cloth diapers. Drop in and poke around, you're bound to find something you like, but expect to pay premium. I love this shop, but it's a little pricey -- though high-quality beautiful things deserve to be bought at a premium so that is forgiven. Staff has been nothing but gracious and their friendly chatter will often talk me into buying more items ;) They have a small collection of jewelry and make-up, but I would like to see more. Some more clothing would also be a great addition to the shop!

I read so much about Carbon in Avenue magazine, and finally decided to check it out. What a wonderful store! When I came in, there were no other customers there, so I had the undivided attention of the friendly sales associate who explained about the store and all products I was interested in. Since Carbon is an environmental boutique, all products are great! Everything from bedding, table linens, skin care products and baby stuff is organic, recycled/recyclable and good for the environment. Carbon sells fantastic selection of non-toxic paint, wool carpeting and environmentally friendly flooring. Anybody who plans on remodeling their house should check out Carbon's selection of the abovementioned products. There are also several large, serious looking water treatment systems for sale.
I really loved Carbon's selection of organic bedding. A beautiful set of Queen sheets immediately caught my eye, and I would have bought it if it didn't cost $305. I will consider buying it as a treat for myself in the near future. It is just so soft and beautiful to resist...
Additionally, on the shelves at Carbon you will find solar powered clocks and radios, indoor herb gardens, John Masters skin and hair care products, organic cleaning and laundry supplies, lots of toys and clothes for the babies (very cute!) and accessories for adults such as hats and bags. There are also several items of furniture on display. I wish I had asked the sales associate whether the store has sales. At the time I was at Carbon, I didn't see a single sale sign.
Overall, Carbon is a neat, wonderful store the philosophy of which appeals to me. I will definitely shop here again.

This is a very cool shop. Making excellent use out of a small space, Carbon sells a variety of environmentally-friendly items for the home. There is everything from children's toys to kitchen goods to health and beauty products. I bought some hairspray without the chemicals added by a lot of the major brands, a small reusable drink container, and a whimsical notebook made from elephant poo (I am not making this up). Prices are not bad for these kinds of items (organic, environmentally-friendly goods are usually always more expensive anyways) and the service is very helpful and friendly. I am going to be back!
