This place is a wonderful place for your pets. I have been taking my dog here for years, but recently found out that she had very bad periodontal disease and needed to have some teeth pulled. After getting my quite large estimate for surgery, we took her in. After I dropped her off, Dr. Malone called me several times throughout the day to give me updates on my dog and how she was doing. It ended up that they had to pull a lot more teeth than was expected (and priced out in the estimate), I was extremely worried about how big the bill would end up being. Luckily Dr. Malone was able to keep the bill very close to the original estimate.
Dr. Malone was one of the most compassionate people I have ever met. She clearly loves animals and knows how to take care of them. I really appreciated the creative billing they did to keep my bill very close to the estimate that was given.
The staff at the front are also very nice! -

And a HUGE thank you goes to this place for saving my fat-cat, Cleo.
About a year and a half ago I thought for sure I'd have to put her down. She was overweight, in pain, and leaking urine all over herself for months and months. She had begun vomiting and had diarrhea. I took her to vet after vet after vet...tried medications and diets. I was ready to put her down.
A CBC and urinalysis later, I was put in touch (for free!) with a pet-dietician of sorts who made some suggestions, started my girl on some antibiotics and within a week all the negative symptoms stopped.
She's now healthy and beautiful!! And didn't need CT scans, expensive medication, and MRIs that other vets tried to push on me. It makes me sad my furry child suffered for so long. -

I'm very surprised to read some of these negative reviews, because I got not only what I would call grade A service, but service actually way beyond my expectations for any vet.
Not only were the girls who answered the phone nice and patient while giving me directions, but the doctor I saw (Dr. Bratty I think) blew me away.
My cat has some sort of digestive problem that has alluded several veterinarians. In my past, I've experienced the full range of incompetent vets and fantastic (expensive) ones. While the vet I saw at Capilano was equally perplexed about my cat's problem, he came up with two different plans of action, keeping my very small budget in mind.
After my visit, three days later I received a phone call. This vet had continued to research since my visit to try to figure out what it could be. He had two MORE solutions for me to try, none of them involving me spending more money at the clinic. He was even researching on his own different foods for my cat to try, and contacting the food manufacturers to make sure that there were no ingredients that my cat had an allergy to in the food.
To me, that is so far above and beyond what I would ever expect from a veterinarian. It shows that the staff at Cap actually care about your pet, not just their profits.
I will happily recommend this pet hospital to anyone and everyone who is frustrated with a vet who is just out to make as much money off of you as possible. I wish I had found out about them sooner, it would have saved me a LOT of time and money over the years.
Thanks for reminding me that some businesses do still have heart. -

We had competent, compassionate care for our cat for a decade without the over-pushing of services we encountered in specialized cat care centres. When at age 17 our cat became terminally ill and in pain and we made the decision to end her life, the staff were wonderful, warm and caring. They made time in a full schedule for me to bring her in for pain treatment and kept her sedated and comfortable until our two young kids were out of school so that we could all see her together. We were able to touch and stroke and say goodbye to our dear longtime friend, who lay in a soft basket in a low-lit, private room, before the anesthetic was given. We were all very sad but so touched and comforted by the calm, loving attitude of everyone around us. Now we take our dog here and we know he gets the same tender care.

Found a bump on my dog's ear and took her in to get tested. Came back for a follow up check up and the doctor comes in and says "so you know kenji has cancer right?" I said no and he looks at the file and says "ohhh.... We were suppose to tell you today... Sorry! Ill give you some time." seriously, read the damn file instead if bursting into the room!!! Kenji unfortunately passed away after a year, but she lived a happy, healthy life without chemotherapy and with a better vet.

I'm only giving this place two stars because there actually have been times when I have received decent animal care here but I have had some serious issues with the people who answer the phones and consequently present the face of Capilano Pet Hospital. Because of the really rude and inadequate results of my last two calls here I would never recommend this place to anyone unless it was a dire emergency and then good luck to getting any kind of service. Shame! Too bad because there are compassionate staff here....somewhere.
