Review from Asif A.

The best poutine you could ever get! I am not a huge fan of their hamburgers and hotdogs but whenever I feel like havin' a poutine, I stop by here!

Review from Simon B.
I was very excited to go to Chez Ben. They have the reputation of having the best poutine in Granby, and I've even heard some people (from Granby) say it's the best in the province. The owners certainly seem to think so too, as can be seen on their big yellow sign that reads: "#1 poutine". So on my way to Montreal from Sherbrooke, I took a little detour by Ben's. It's about 5 miles out of AUT-10.
The restaurant is a bigger version of your traditional burger shack. As you come in, you are right in front of a small kitchen counter where you order and pay for your meal. Kind of like a take-out counter. Behind it is a very big man, dressed in a red uniform with white stripes, and a little paper hat. Behind him is the kitchen, with more men in red with paper hats cooking and being loud.
Ben's has several things on the menu, and most seem to be your typical shack food: burgers, hotdogs, pogos, and of course poutine. The later of which they have various kinds.
I tasted the traditional poutine. As it can be seen on the picture, the small one is really small and it pretty expensive. In fact, a small poutine + a small pepsi cost me about $9. Good thing I didn't have to tip (there's no service).
The poutine itself had fresh cheese, but not squeeky fresh. The fries were home made, and fried well. Crisp and warm throughout, without being overcooked. Unfortunately great poutines are made from great chicken gravies, and theirs fell a little short. It was very liquid, and almost tasted like any other sauce. I say almost because I noticed that there were a couple green spices mixed throughout the sauce. I would guess they were italian spices, but they didn't change the taste so much.
Overall, I had a good time there. The big neon sign, the big men in red shouting orders, and the large open area where local families come for a quick good meal. I'd lower your expectations before going there if you're looking for the province's best poutine though, as they are much better ones around.
