Review from Erin J.
My in-laws live in town, so everytime we came to visit, I used to make a stop here. That is until about a year ago.
Canteloupe Annie's makes custom sandwiches which are very good. You pick your deli meat, cheese, and your vegetables (including yummy choices such as artichokes, olives, etc). I have never sat and had a meal in the dining room, but always enjoyed their sandwiches.
For many years, I would come here and the sandwiches were pretty reasonably priced (maybe $6 or 7?) The last time I came by, I saw that they increased the price of the sandwich significantly. I can't remember the exact price, but I believe it must have been $9 or $10, enough to make me walk out of the store.
I hate it when businesses jack up their prices and think they can get away with it.
Sorry not with me. I left, went down the road to Tim Hortons (granted, not as good), but at least I got my lunch for $5. -

http://www.cantaloupea... Just a little cafe on the main street of Oliver, seems popular with the locals and passing motorists. i read the guest book and every one seemed to have liked it well enough. Named after the little steam engine that used to ply the valley in the 1930's hauling fruit. Oliver was the cantaloupe capital then (it's pretty well all wine growing now). The engine was known as Cantaloupe Annie. Lotsof mugs, tea cups, spoons and other dust collecting bric a brac everywhere. Very friendly and quite good food. I had a jalapeno flavoured havarti cheese and tomato sandwich and a side of home made potato salad. They are fully licensed, so the Heineken was a happy addition. Finished up with a double Americano which was quite good after I had given instructions (yes, it's one of those places); double shot and not too much water. To be on the safe side, I picked my own mug, otherwise it could have led to one of those overdiluted coffee tasting drinks. They had a good selection of loose teas. And ladies, there is a 'ladies night' on Wednesday's with tea cup reading! They have won an award for breakfast's, so I would guess they would serve good hearty breakfasts too.

The worst food and service in years!. I have not had such a bad meal in years. Service was just plain poor, not big city malicious, just small town inept. The soup was inedible and we left it behind. The prosciutto was sold old that it had salt crystals on it. Even the egg salad sandwich was so bland the kids wouldn't even eat it. We went away hungry.
