Big box store in central location, almost kinda odd looking as how Cambie Street is developing. I remember way back in the day there used to be an old small Canadian Tire around here, then they decided to rebuild and inflate the store. One of the first of there newer looking stores. But also one where other reviewers are also saying that is unorganized. Things are stacked nicely here, but things are just not all in the same place. Like let's say a special on a certain motor oil, and you go to the motor oil department, they move it to a different part of the store, and sometimes not the front of the store where specials should be.

Another thing, I've been to this store for specials, and they usually run out, and these are Saturday only specials, and they run out an hour after opening, really, you serious. This store just does not do the flyer deals well.

The parking is crazy at this place, they have parking below, and above. Try to dodge the roof if you can. The only good part about this place is that it is open till 10PM most nights.

I don't often go to Canadian Tire, I typically know what I need and hope to hell I know where to find it. I have had easy in and out experiences and I have had visits where I hunt for an hour for 1 tiny stupid little thing cause I can't find anyone to help you or you can and they just point you in a general direction and refuse to walk over there to show you where it actually is.

The staff in general are either rude or just seemed to have died inside, the ones that are dead inside seem to be slightly more informed they have just simply given up on trying to provide any form of positive customer experience.

In the event that you must search half your life for the items you need and have the misfortune of having to use their washroom I wish you luck! It is always gross in there and my most recent visit someone had puked all over the floor and they really didn't seem to care when I told them, seriously, this is not a carnival or nightclub why is there vomit on the floor!?!

To make matters worse they seem to have replaced ALL the cashier stands with stupid ass self checkouts, you wouldn't believe how many Canadians cannot find a bloody barcode!

I give you 2 stars simply because you usually have what I am looking for and the sale prices are usually really good.

Most confusing Canadian Tire I have ever been in.  And since CT can be found everywhere you go, I have been in many.

A "quick stop in" to grab something I needed ended up being a near 1 hour ordeal.  I should have just stopped at the one I had originally intended on going to.  I had no idea this location was so chaotic.

First of all, the store is huge and on multiple levels, but they still don't have what you need in stock.  They seem to have decided that they want to become a Home Depot/Future Shop as well, and have installed a section devoted to home reno goods like cabinets and sinks.  I even saw a guy buying a flat screen TV.  Who goes to Crappy Tire for TVs?

Anyhow, I was on the hunt for mason jars and mulch for my dying hibiscus.  I figured I could save two trips and just get everything all at once.

The canning section appeared to have a distinct lack of mason jars.  A rather essential item.  Finding an employee to help was an even bigger challenge than finding the canning section.  One was too busy talking to another employee on the phone about their supervisor, and the rest were busy or nowhere to be found.  My level of shopping rage was rising.  Attempts to beat my head on the desk were ignored.  Accosting workers on the floor was our only option.  Finally  we were pointed to the upper shelves of the canning section, where only large jars where to be found, with a ladder next to the section.  So we are supposed to climb the ladders ourselves and juggle heavy boxes of glass?  Seems safe.  I was not looking for large jars, however, so I had to send the girl on a mission.  They only had the 250 mL and none of the 125 mL in stock.  I needed both.  Sigh.

The soil section was even less impressive and they didn't have any mulch, but I picked up some peat instead, hoping that would do the trick.  I'll probably end up killing the poor plant anyways.  I should have just gone to Mandeville...

They get 2 stars because the one staffer actually bothered to go to the basement to get me the jars.  But the rest of the store can kiss my ass.  Also - pay parking.  Not cool.

Ughhhhhhh. I knew this was going to be a shitty experience, but the Home Depot failed me and I figured I'd give Canadian Tire a shot.

I was surprised to see actual employees walking around, because usually when I'm here I can't find a single one. Not that it mattered too much, when I chased one lady down to ask which aisle the pest control products were in, she stared at me for a moment and gestured towards ... uh.. the nothingness behind me, and said "over by that lady". I turned around to look for this "lady" and saw nobody. I turned back around in hopes of getting a specific aisle number out of her, but she had already begun to hurry away before I could ask her anything else. Nice.

I chased down another red-shirted lady to ask again. "Aisle 53!" (or 52, I can't remember) she responded promptly. This aisle was in exactly the OPPOSITE direction the first lady had pointed at. WTF? Anyways, the second lady is why they earned a second star. Not that answering a simple question is terribly impressive, but hey, it helped.

Why in the hell do you need so many kinds of mouse traps? And why were you sold out of everything else? The one thing I actually needed you don't seem to carry. The pest control product selection is rather limited if you aren't looking for a can of raid. I left empty handed and annoyed, as usual.

Man, I hate this place unless I know EXACTLY what I want and know EXACTLY where it is.  This experience is not a unique one:

I went to Canadian tire because aside from working full time I also go to school and was somehow roped into being the person to construct a product example for a group project.  (Arts degree, you get me into more trouble than you get me out of..)  All I needed was wire.  Just a meter of freaking wire.  After doing a thorough walk through of the entire store without seeing a single staff member to ask directions from I asked a cashier who directed me to the aisle.  OK, found it.  Then I paced up and down the few surrounding aisles looking for someone to cut it for me.  The place is a deserted wasteland and I considered opening a pair of wire cutters, cutting it myself, and walking it up to the check-out and telling them to find out how much I owe them.  But it's not their fault the store is understaffed.

I finally flagged someone down from across the store by flailing around like a wounded bird, and was assured she'd send someone.  More waiting. I called my mom to kill time since I hadn't done that in a while.  Still, no one had come to cut the wire.  I started pacing again.  Began to find the service comically bad, and went from annoyance to hysteria.  I sat down and read a chapter from my book.  Finally someone noticed, came by, and cut some wire like I hadn't been waiting in the store for half an hour.  I didn't even care anymore, I just wanted out.

    Screw that place.

Shopping at Canadian tire is becoming an increasingly more painful experience.  It seems like they always try to get by on the absolute minimum in staff.  Now they've done away with most of the cashiers and mist kiosks are self service.  I guess this is how they're able to offer such low prices.

Everytime I visit there seems to always be a huge line at the returns counter (so I won't buy anything unless I'm absolutely sure).

Canadian tire seems to go through bad and good times (have personally had a bit of a love/hate relationship with it over the years)...right now seems like a bit of a bad one (maybe because of the recession).  I'm sure they'll bounce back at some point and their stores will once again be more enjoyable for me to shop in :).

I don't know what happened to Canadian Tire?
It seems like this location was set up with random sets of blueprints. There are literally no staff to ask for help. I ended up wandering aimlessly until I discovered a map that told me I was an idiot and the paint was right around the corner. Hmmm!
I actually felt bad for the paint kid. He had no idea what was going on and was totally blown away with my "what paint do you use on concrete" question.
I left without my paint, but I managed to get rid of a stack of crappy tire money on the way out.
    Meh!

I can't stand the whole Canadian Tire corporation. The stores have the worst service I've ever experienced and prices that just aren't competitive.  Last time I visited Canadian Tire I waited in line at the key cutting place for 25mins to find out that the employee wasn't trained well enough to cut a simple house key for me.  very unimpressed to say the least.  Their camping supplies are the main reason I visit and even then they carry the cheapest quality products for a hefty price. not worth the hassle of waiting in line for poorly treated employees who obviously struggle at their job due to lack of training and support.
never again canadian tire will i set foot in your store.

Holy unhelpful! My wife and I decided the buy a new vacuum on a whim and found ourselves wandering the aisles of Canadian Tire. We'd originally intended on buying a replacement filter for our piece of crap vacuum, but we were seduced by the idea of getting a brand new vacuum cleaner when we couldn't find the filters. We found a couple of vacuums that we were interested in. Tracking down a salesperson to help us was a big ordeal. The one guy we spotted told us to wait while he found someone who knew about vacuums. Well, the woman who came to help us knew nothing about vacuums. Her advice was to pick the one we liked the best. She hung out with us for a good ten minutes telling us random, inaccurate information that contradicted what the boxes advertised about the vacuums. She finally asked if we were good and we said yes just so that she'd go away and let us read the boxes in peace.

We ended up picking a vacuum and changing our minds after doing some more research at home. We came back to return the vacuum and decided to buy cleaning supplies while we were there. The several aisles had stuff spilled in them and salespeople walking by without cleaning up the mess.

Home Depot, one block down, has much better customer service. I won't be coming back to this Canadian Tire.

Canadian Tire... more like Canadian LIAR! I was looking on the website because I wanted a toboggan, since we are getting dumped on early this year. The website told me that they had a 4 foot toboggan in stock, and since there is a Crappy Tire located near my house, I figured I'd pick it up on the way home from work. Wrong!

I get to the store, walk around in circles trying to find the damn thing, find some of the cheap plastic one-person sleds, and decide to check upstairs to see if I can find it up there, since this is where they keep a lot of their seasonal stuff. I notice on my way up that the escalator going down is not working....trying to remember if this place has stairs?... By the time I get upstairs I realize there are no toboggans in sight, and head back to the escalator to see that it is actually barricaded off with a sign that says "use to the elevator next to the cashier."

The elevator next to the cashier already had five people around it waiting for it, including a guy with a shopping cart full of stuff. Turns out that the elevator wasn't working either! The man with the cart was asking the cashier what to do since we were all stuck on the top floor, and she was barking at us to go use the elevator outside in the parking lot. So I guess she wanted the guy with the the cart full of stuff to just take it all outside unpaid for?? I ran over to the other elevator which took forever, and finally made my way downstairs.

I looked around one more time before deciding to ask a sales rep for some help. I started asking a lady who was walking by, and she just kept on walking by and said she'd be right back. So I waited some more. The guy she was helping came out of the aisle, but she was still in there doing god-knows-what when I finally dragged my frustrated-self down there to find out if anyone was ever going to help me. I stood next to her waiting for her when she gave me the "just a minute" while she finished pecking into her hand-held computer and gave me her attention. I held up the printout I had from earlier in the day that had the toboggan on it and asked where I could find it. She typed the info on her little computer and proceeded to tell me that the item was not on the sales floor yet. Great. So are you selling shit from your backroom like a crack dealer? How the heck am I supposed to buy this if its not on the sales floor and listed as in stock on the website. After 30 minutes of fucking around in the store, I just walked away.

    Canadian Tire, THANKS FOR NOTHING!!!

While the inlaws were here they decided to buy us a bbq for our new patio!!  After we had it all set up and out for a night of Vancouver raininess...we realized that a bbq cover was a necessity...we went to a few hardware stores and fix it centers but all the covers were like $60...much too much in these holidays shopping times...our last stop was Canadian Tire  and much to our delight we found the perfect bbq cover and for only $24.99..what a bargain...we even had some help with finding the bbq section from a very helpful gentleman named Boyd...

This location is pretty convenient as it's located in the newly developed part of Cambie Street...there is also a Save on, Home Depot, Best Buy, Winners..just to name a few.

I want to also mention that on our mission for the perfect cover we parked under the shopping complex. When we went to leave I realized that I had lost the parking ticket..we had only been there and hour which is $1.50... but a lost ticket is $50!!! I was soooo annoyed as parking all day is only $30..I was ready for a fight with the parking attendant but once my partner explained the situation they agreed the fee was ridiculous and let us leave without any charge!! So nice to know that there are good  people doing great service to idiots like me that lose our parking tickets!

What a store.  What were they thinking?   I can only imagine that it started out as a tire store, and then they added the rest.  Kind of the reverse of wal-mart (starts as a store, adds the auto/tire garage).

So yes- this place bears some resemblance to the big W-Mart.    Some of the sections include: Auto Care, Home Improvements, Camping/Sporting Gear, Pet Care, Furniture, Home Decor...  You get the picture.

I've gotten a number of random items here: a replacement shower part, a new gas cap, a camping grill, some terracotta pots.  All that at the Tire store.

This store is big and easy to shop.  It has 2 levels- but the top level always seems to be in a seasonal transition when I bother to look up there.  Usually the shelves are empty, and there's lots of pallets of boxes everywhere.

And don't forget the amazing value of the Canada bucks- 1 penny off each time!  What a deal.

I've had a couple of great experiences with really friendly and knowledgeable staff members here, but those two experiences are where it ends.

I really feel for the women who have been lucky enough to keep their cashier jobs at this location just so they can stand around babysitting up to 6 automated check-out terminals.

The people in the automotive department seem to think customers are irritants. Don't go to this store hoping to get advice before making an automotive purchase, you're likely to run into a manager or staffer who has no time for your neophyte queries.

I actually hope they get bought out by an American chain or a major competitor enters the market so I don't have to shop here anymore. I'm not a fan of Canadian Tire in general, but all my recent bad experiences have been at store 6 on Cambie St.

I suppose it's called "crappy tire" for good reason. I could have taken a nap in the camping section for the length of time I had to wait to have a glass case opened for me. And for a 40 $ item, mind you. Much pricier and theft-worthy items are released onto the open shelves, you would think this item was encased with gold. I hunted down numerous employees asking for assistance, but they each said they'd send this person called "someone else," who never actually came.

This shop is often referred to as "Canadian Liar" amongst our friends as they send out the flyer with the specials ... then don't stock any of the specials.  It can get pretty annoying.

This is a big location -- way more stuff than the little shop in Kits, but they still seem to drop the ball when it comes to those deals. They have a big kitchen section, loads of outdoor and sporting goods and all sorts of items for your home. It's a great place to go for basics if you aren't looking for anything too fancy or unique.

My friend always buys his bikes here (because the bikes always get stolen so he just gets cheap bikes he doesn't mind losing so much). He's been through a few Canadian Tire bikes and the most recent one is missing a piece that keeps his chain on. We went in to see if we could talk to someone about the part. But after looking for ages for someone to talk to us in the bike department, we found a guy who didn't know anything about bikes. He said there's only one guy on staff who knows about the parts ... but he works M-F, during the day. When everyone else is at work too. So their customer service and product knowledge could use some improvement.

This newly opened, massive Canadian Tire on Cambie may be in the middle of oft-irritating, Canada Line construction, but that is no reason to shy away from the close-to-downtown location.

My boyfriend and I spent a considerable amount of time and money here over the summer whilst preparing for our numerous camping trips.  While I found the service to be good when needed, it was often difficult to find anyone around.  There is an obvious lack of employees here but you cannot blame them, just hope that the people serving you know what they are talking about.  We were able to purchase everything we needed, and a good majority of it at a lower cost, for camping over the summer.

Should you need other things, like house and garden wares, tools, bbq's, auto service, sporting goods and the like, they also have plenty of these items stocked.  Keep any eye-out for sales, its worth it!

Unlike the time I visited the Richmond branch, it was a rainy and cold evening. All I wanted to do was make a payment to my mom's Canadian Tire MasterCard. That was it!

After struggling for five minutes to locate someone who was both unoccupied and willing to answer my questions, I was directed to the customer service counter. There I was told I would be able to make the payment. After queuing for a few minutes, I finally made it to the counter only to be told that it was not possible to  that there but would have to wait a little longer so I could make the payment at the main counters.

After waiting again, I finally make it to the front of that line where I overheard the cashier start singing. He began by just humming to himself then raised his voice to a more audible volume. The customer he was helping scurried off and I moved forward. The cashier wouldn't acknowledge me until after he had finished his little alto solo.

Okay, I think I've bagged Canadian Tire enough for one season. In conclusion, I avoid going there whenever possible. The end.

Just an update on the service from the tire service counter.  I had a different representative on my re-visit yesterday.  Although the store did not have the size of tires I needed, the service representative was extremely helpful.  Despite the many calls he was getting during our conversation, he put them on hold and helped me through with locating other stores which had what I needed in inventory and deciding the costs and economics of getting rims for winter tires vs seasonal changeovers due to the tire pressure monitoring system my car carries.

I was looking to buy a portable Weber Q200 BBQ. All over town they were sold out this summer. I decided to give it one more shot at Canadian Tire and to my surprise it was approximately $50 less than all the other places I went to.and they had a whole whack of them! It was a no brainer I picked one up and I am very happy with my purchase. Great BBQ!
