Review from Danelle W.
Calgary, AB
This is my closest Canadian Tire and, as far as CT goes, it's a fairly good one. It's a large store, always has what I'm looking for, and the employees can be incredibly helpful. For example, I was looking for a product, it wasn't on the shelf, and one employee even went "upstairs" to look through new stock to see if he could find it. The price is pretty average and I've never been disappointed leaving. They are also very nice when they find me standing in the light bulb isle on my yearly trip to replace bulbs in my house - whoever installed the fixtures thought it would be fun to ensure there was a DIFFERENT KIND OF BULB in every single one!
I also like that they have the self check-out kiosk. Actually, it's been so long since I went through a real-person cashier that I couldn't even tell you how efficiently or friendly the process is!
Parking can be an issue when it's busy... oh, and in the fall someone sells taber corn in the parking lot! -

I feel like I can accept my Officially Certified Grown Up badge now that I've grown to enjoy shopping at Canadian Tire. (That's a thing, right?!)
Seriously, I went to this store to pick some things up for work and was tempted to spend all day wandering the aisles looking at giant Tupperwares and garden hoses. Everything is so useful and I saw a million things I didn't know I needed until RIGHT THEN.
I must have looked pretty mystified because after only a minute of gazing around, a manager approached me to ask if I needed help. The service here is good - everyone I encountered was friendly and helpful.
And they have self-checkout! Yay!!
If you are looking for anything for your home, you will find it here. (Plus it has "Canadian" in the name, so you'll feel patriotic while doing it.) -

I've been frequenting this Canadian Tire quite a bit lately, though they've always got what I'm looking for, I find the service to be a bit hit and miss.
On some visits, like my most recent one, I'll have an employee stop and ask me if I need help finding anything as they see the bewildered look on my face as I'm trying to figure out what exactly I'm looking for. I appreciated that one of them took the time to look up long enough to see if I looked lost or not. On other visits, like one the week before, I'll pass employees doing inventory, stocking shelves, etc. in a similar state and be at the point that I need to approach them first. That isn't so uncommon in Calgary's retail stores... but the first guy is upping the bar. When I can walk in and have someone like him every time, this location'll be a four-star. I've done my fair share of retail work. I know they've got their own tasks to accomplish and it isn't always possible to get to every single employee... but if a few of them can do it, why not the rest?
On a different note, the store itself is well-stocked and tidy. Things are always where they should be, the cashiers are pretty efficient, the aisles are well labelled and the prices for most items are an easy pill to swallow.
