My boyfriend and I were lucky enough to be invited to the third annual Canadian AIDS Society Light the Town Red World AIDS Day Gala. The Gala took place the night of December 1st, 2010 at the Delta Hotel. It was a formal affair, with people dressed in suits and gowns. In attendance were business people, government officials, and other prominent members of the community.

The night began with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, and tables with items to bid on for the silent auction. These included red ties signed by celebrities like Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig, books, spa packages, dinner vouchers, jewelry, paintings, and all sorts of valuable and fun items. Throughout the night, there were many guest speakers, live entertainment, a live auction, and a three-course meal. They even had little gift bags on every chair. It was a really great fundraising and awareness event, and I was incredibly impressed with the quality, class, and organization of the night. The food was fantastic, the auctions and prizes were great, and the speakers were more than inspirational. The fundraising coordinator, Vanessa, along with the Canadian AIDS Society, did a fantastic job, and after that night, I am so much more educated and willing to contribute in any way I can.
