I always tell myself I'm going to write a review about Canada Steak Burger but this place puts me in the biggest food coma so that I could never make it to my computer.
Last night me and my Valentine had a slight change of plans and we decided just pick up Canada Steak Burger to go. We ordered two combos, a 6oz and 4oz burger topped with gyro meat and some tzatziki sauce on the side. By the time we got back to the house we hurried and changed into sweats because we knew what we were in for.
I opened the bag up and laid everything out on the coffee table. The food was still hot. We couldn't even decipher which burger was which since they were both so huge and stuffed with gyro meat. We had to take the buns off and inspect what was on the inside to check. (heh heh heh) They gave us so many fries that the fries alone probably took up half the table. This burger was so good and juicy. It doesn't really need any condiments. But since I'm a fat ass I would simultaneously eat it with the tzatziki sauce and ketchup. Had to switch it up a bit. I finished about 3/4 of that burger and some fries and I was FULL. We tried to start a movie when we started eating our food and quite honestly I don't even remember the title of the movie or what it was about by the time we were done eating since I was so caught up in the food.
Ordering food to go from here was probably one of the best and worst V-day ideas at the same time. Great idea to just veg out with your Valentine on the couch while eating delicious fatty food. Bad idea if you're trying to feel all sexy on Valentine's day. How are you supposed to get down on some Gyro burgers then expect to get down with Gyro breath? You know what I'm sayin?? ha ha ha.
All jokes aside, I love Canada Steak Burger. This place is definitely a go to, not just for the burgers but everything else as well. The portions are huge so expect to have left overs. The girls at the register are always really nice and friendly. -

It was my first visit, and I must say that Yelp reviews are what caused me to go. The place isn't fancy, but the food is great. I had the 8-oz. Patty Melt with fries. The sauce they put on the burger was very different. After a couple bites, I was hooked. The food was extremely fresh. I could tell that fries were just cut and cooked. There were off the wall too.
I was a bit frightened to try the steak burger, but that's on my list for next time. -

Went out for some Canada Steak Burger the other night after reading all the positive reviews about it. The 8oz. steak burger is legit, I got it loaded with everything (bacon, cheese, gyro meat, etc). Great tasting burger and more than enough to satisfy almost any appetite. I'm a big eater and finished the burger no problem but the burger comes with a mound of fries and I could only get through half of them. My family got the gyros they were real tasty but the meat seemed a little dry to me. The plate came with a salad and fries or rice only about half of the food was consumed, you get plenty of leftovers for the next day. Good price too under $30 for 3 people. The staff is also very friendly and attentive.

This place was pretty good, but somehow I was expecting more, based on all the great reviews. It's really just a generic Greek burger place with better-than-average hamburger patties. Otherwise, there's nothing distinctive about it. It's the kind of place that doesn't put any condiments on their burgers and just leaves out packets of ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise for your convenience. I'm not a fan of any of those condiments, so I prefer places that make their own sauce.
The light in the bathroom has a motion sensor, so you have to keep moving around or you'll suddenly find yourself in complete darkness. Which is... comical. -

Had to walk by Lolita's to enter this place it was very hard. This place has a giant menu from burger's to a porterhouse steak special? Not much to this place two TVs few tables , simple to the point.
Went with a combo 8oz. Steak burger with cheese and topped with gyro and fries and a soda for $7.99. Food comes out on a styrofoam plate with the burger and a couple handful of fries. The burger came of course topped with a good sized slice of gyro meat and tomato lettuce , onion , but dry no condiments( http://www.yelp.com/bi... ). They give you a bottle of ketchup but, the burger was very juicy and you could really eat this burger dry. Fries were thick cut and seemed to be frozen from a bag.

I saw the reviews and my family decided to go. I had the ribs, boy were they good! The sauce on them was yummy. I am glad my family made the decision to try this place. I am sure we will go here again. Can't wait to get those ribs again.

I was craving a pastrami sandwich, so my hubby brought me here for mother's day. I left feeling so ripped off. We spent almost 40 bucks on 2 pastrami's, one burger, fish sticks, and chili fries. I'm still looking for a good burger/pastrami joint in San Diego like they have in every corner of L.A. .... It's been 10 years and I still haven't found one yet.

So I LOVE this place.. i already wrote a review about their spot in North Park so I figured I'd write about this one.
I LOVE that its big... I LOVE that the food is still amazing... I LOVE that the handsome guy that worked the other joint works at this one.
I DONT love... that the fries are not as PLENTYFUL here like they are at the North Park spot... I think thats it!! LOL
The service is fine I dont know why someone complained about a styrofoam plate. I mean that is the least of my expectations when I eat somewhere. Now if it was a DIRTY styrofoam plate thats different. I love this family owned joint...
I love their gyro burger, chicken plate dinners and their amazing kabobs!! I always say I'm going to try something new, but I never do! LOL I love it!! 4 Stars only because I didn't get as many fries as I USUALLY get... maybe I should get it TO GO and i'll get more! LOL -

I was excited to be here. I love burger joints but because my girl don't really dig burgers I decided to go alone; I biked 5 miles here, in the sun, wearing jeans - why? Because I wanted to get my dang burger. Upon entering I was immediately greeted by the girl - she noticed the look on my face that was obviously showing that I didn't know what the heck I was looking at so she offered to help me make a decision. I kindly declined, seeing as how I'm a big boy and I can make my own decisions, and I went with a safe choice: a daily special.
6oz Steakburger w/ cheese, topped with gyro (you have the option of that or bacon). It comes w/ fries and a 16oz drink as well. Maybe I just haven't had a burger in a while but 6oz seemed like a lot - that or it was the Gyro they put in the burger. One word: awesomelydelicious. Yeah, I made that word up, but that's not the point. My food was so delicious that I forgot I had a drink - I think next time I'll try it with bacon (or both...I heard someone order their burger with both bacon and gyro).
Don't let the name fool you though because their menu isn't limited to strictly burgers - check out their menu online or just visit one of their locations. They offer sandwiches, a couple salads, and some dinner choices e.g. ribs, steak.
I'll definitely be back to try other items on their menu - that plus the customer service I received was great. *thumbs up* -

Four stars because they present an interesting concept in a casual environment and at cheap prices. Their combos are under or around $10 even with a drink added. Don't go here if you're not a fan of Greek food because it's what they have as their specialty.
The location is a bit scarce with parking but there is a bigger lot across the street.
Had their cheeseburger topped with gyro combo and enjoyed it. The burger was tender and seasoned, juicy wonderfulness but the gyro was less tender. Though that's probably because it's been rotating on a spit for longer than a freshly cooked burger. The fries were decent and cooked properly.
I definitely like this place and would return if I were in the area. The location is small but cozy with spaced out seating and a friendly staff that are probably the owners as well and enjoy what they serve. -

Parking? Parking sucks. Not enough paved spots. Have to park in the dirt to the left of the store. That is a lawsuit waiting to happen. -

Been to the Original spot and this one is a lil behind and not even close to Western Steak Burger. The 8oz burger I had with gyro meat was really dry and over cooked and very skimmpy with the gyro meat. When I think of Western and Canada I think perfectly cooked steak burgers with a nice helping of gyro meat and today that was not the case. The cheese on my burger was cold and not melted which made the american cheese slice taste like it was off a government cheese block. Considering I have come to know Canada as a close rival to Western I do expect more from them. A lot more. Parking does suck but its not their fault, just poor location. Wait time wasn't bad considering it was kind of busy. Fries were great, hot and crispy and lightly seasoned. My son had the 6oz with bacon and it was a few busted up pieces. Same problem with his cheese. I will go back and see if it can redeem itself otherwise I will just stick to the original Canada.

This place had some really good burgers! had it topped with Gyro meat and the steak cut season fries were tasty. The falafel was cooked to perfection moist on the inside none of the dry falling apart kind.

I heard a lot of hype about Canada Steak Burger so I definitely wanted to give it a try! If you like Greek food and burgers this is the place for you. They even serve baklava.
I had a burger and fries. I use the Western Bacon Cheese Burger form Carls Jr. to gage how much I like a burger. This was a good burger but not as good as a Western Bacon Cheeseburger. The fries were nice and crispy though. . My mother in law ordered the chicken and salad which looked delicious. If I ever come back I would want to try that!Listed in: Burgers or Bust !

OMGEEEE!!!! So here goes:
First off, this place is totally BOMB!
So I ordered the gyro plate & I was blown away! At first I thought that $10 was a bit much for a gyro plate, but dizayum!!! There was soooo much food in my togo container that the box couldn't even begin to close...they had to put it in a paper bag, then in a plastic bag! But what's portion size if the food is nasty, right? This has to be the best gyro meat I have had thus far...in addition, the salad that comes with it is a meal on its own! I had enough left over for prob two more meals :-) will def return to this spot! -

Not to be a harsh critic, but the burger I ate at the CANADA STEAK BURGER was well overcooked and had way too much seasoning in it. The burger I ordered was salty. And when you add that, to go along with the burnt crusty bun on my burger with cheese and bacon is more than enough to only give this place 2 stars.

This is more of a 3.5 stars if anything.
It's located west of the 805 off telegraph near a ports bar place, a gas station, and a lolita's. Semi-shady area since most things west of the 805 tends to be that way.
I've been here 3 times already since opening. So i'll run down the things that I've had.
Their burgers, even at 2/3 lbs, it looks a lil small to be 2/3 lbs. It's yummy but on one of the occasions, over done/burnt burgers for the entire party i was with
Their pastrami was waaaaay salty on two occasions!
But their Philly Chese Steak sandwich was SOOO GOOD! I was about to take a picture but before I know it, I already ate it all! Good portion and for 5-6 bucks, I cannot go wrong with this.
I've tried their gyros as well, but I don't have a tongue to differentiate good from bad gyros. It tastes fine really.
In any case, I like taking my food to go since parking gets pretty bad after 4pm here. -

Thumbs up once again to CSB! Finally got to try out this new location which didn't disappoint at all. Came here on a Tuesday night with a friend before catching a movie at the oh so famous Regal. This location has more seating because it is a little bigger than the other, widscreen TV's mounted on the wall w/ all the highlights of the football games, & just an overall comfortable atmosphere.
So before, I had the Philly & he had the 8oz w/ gyro. This time, I had the 6oz burger w bacon while he had the 8oz w/ bacon. (looked like he was having a hard time taking that monster down!) The burger was tasty as usual even though I couldn't really taste the bacon because it was smothered in cheese, but he said it had this nice, crunchy apple wood smoked flavor so I just imagined it while I was eating. They give you a HUGE portion of fries (so I think) when you order the meal, we could have shared them! But we washed all of the wonderful goodness down with some refreshing raspberry iced tea!
We will definitely be back again, & again, & again. :D -

Whoa! A fast food joint that's hearty, delicious, and THEY SERVE STEAK (not just steak burgers but you can get a slab of steak for lunch) !! I am not kidding! :) I tried their Spanakopita meal and it was huge (probably better shared), and very mouth watering :) I've also had their burger which was also very tasty (on separate occasions of course! It's a lot of food!) The staff here is friendly and the place is clean. It's nice seeing new places spring up :) There's even a check-in offer!

Yum!! I'm a fan already!!!
I've been waiting for Canada Steak Burger to open since we saw the sign go up! I'm 1/2 Canadian so I was excited just to see the Word "Canada" in the name. I've been checking the progress on my daily walk trying to decided what to try first...Today they opened and it was worth the wait!!!
I got a Steak Burger with cheese... It was delicious! The bun was soft and tasty roll. It wasn't a run of the mill "burger bun". The meat was grilled and cooked just the way I like it! I'm an Instant Fan!
I can't wait to try the different Greek Foods on the menu... Good Greek food to go is scarce in Chula Vista!
I got a kabob special to go for dinner so I sampled it too. It came with a salad and rice. The portions were Huge! The rice is flavorful. The meat on the kabobs were juicy and flavorful.... I will be going back SOON! -

It's been years since I last ate at the original location - and I was overjoyed when I was checking my Android for new places to eat in my area and found a Canada Steakburger in Chula Vista.
Just like the original, the food is no-nonsense: burgers, gyros, kabobs, fries, rings, et cetera.
My friend and I both ordered the 6 oz. burger, with the extra gyros meat piled on - pure carnivorous heaven!
Fries are excellent, and the batter on the onion rings is perfect. Neither item was overly greasy, or or soggy - just about as perfect as you could get.
The staff are cheerful, and things were smooth and efficient - even during a busy Saturday lunch rush.
I'll certainly be back. -

So this week was the first time trying out food from here.The cashier at the front was really friendly and she gave us some recommendations when we asked what was good.
The tables are simple, just like any fast food place except the cashiers do go around and clean them often. The fountain drinks are behind the counter so you have to ask for a refill every time instead of being able to get it yourself.
So back to food, I had never tried Gyro so I was a little skeptical to choose the combo that came with Gyro on top of your burger, so I went with the safe choice and just ordered a regular 4 oz. cheese burger with fries.
My bf however did get the gyro so I tried it... now personally this wouldn't be my choice of food but it was okay.
My burger was fine, nothing absolutely great but not bad at all.
I guess this place wasn't really for me since I'm pretty picky and all I would like from here is a regular cheeseburger... but hey, if you wanna try gyro for yourself, then this place has a lot of satisfied customers :) -

I love Burgers and have eaten at all the major chain burger places and a lot of the small hole in the wall Mom & Pops in search the Burger to Die for, I think I've found it. Canada Steak Burger was suggested to me by a coworker. My wife and I both had the 8oz, Burger Combo with Bacon, include huge order of fries (enough for two) and a drink. I burgers were cooked to order, hot, juicy with leaf lettuce, fresh onions, tomatoes on a fresh soft gourmet style roll. Fries were thicker, but not steak fries, cooked perfectly, lightly crisp with a freshness you rarely find these days. Counter service was friendly and efficient, Dining Room was not fancy, but more importantly it was spotlessly clean.

Terrible service. The girl behind the counter was not even taking orders when she said she was ready. Then she picks up a dirty rag while handling food. After she messes up my order by giving it to another patron and when I ask her about my order she says I had to wait 10min for my order. I asked for an explanation and she was confused just like at the beginning. Never written a review but I had to for this place.
Update. My friend who web with me and got her food ended up getting sick that night. -

Five Stars for the Food, Three Stars for the Atmosphere = Four Stars.
The food here is great, the burgers are tasty, the gyro is tasty, the seasoning on the fries is delicious, but my only complaint is that the place had an "open" door policy (I guess they don't have A/C?) that there were a lot of flies. I went on a Sunday afternoon; parking for this place can be hectic but it's worth it. They also show football games so pretty chill atmosphere. Minus the flies.
Also, if you ask for a refill, they'll tell you "50 cents" but if you don't have it, they say "don't worry about it".. In the first place, why you would tell your customers that a refill is 50 cents but when they tell you, "oh, let me go get it because my bag is at my table", they say don't worry about it and just give you a free refill. Why bother to tell your customers that a refill is 50 cents, when you'll just give it for free? Just a little confused, that's all. I witnessed this twice with two separate customers (we sat near the register). -

First of all, I have been patiently waiting for this place to open. I have never been to the University location, but seeing a new restaurant called Canada Steak Burger coming home off the 805 piqued my interest. Once I realized they sold gyros, I couldn't wait.
My husband and I came in a couple weeks after they opened so my rating could be just because they are working out the kinks. I knocked one star off because the food was good, not great. I've definitely had better gyros elsewhere. I had the gyro plate with yellow rice (don't get the rice) and my the husband had a gyro. To their credit, you do get alot of food.
The second star is knocked off because of the professionalism of the front staff. It was kind of hard to get their attention when we walked in, but once we started to order our cashier was very helpful with suggestions, etc. However, while we were waiting for our food to be ready (it takes awhile), the employees at the front were talking really loudly to each other about their plans for the weekend and yelling back to the kitchen staff. I don't want to hear the staff's personal conversations while I'm waiting or eating my food.
I will definitely try this place again so I will revisit this rating in the future and hope for the best! -

Really like it here. Not much to say about the atmosphere since it looks like any other fast food joint.
I thought the most noteworthy thing was the gyro meat=EXCELLENT. Gyro meat on top of my meat patty? OKAYYY!
the customer service was also very good. Friendly and helpful. Love supporting the local economy! -

Philly Cheese was pretty amazing. I'd for sure go for that.
The gyro was very dry and plain tasting. At first I thought it was 'healthy' tasting, but then realized that the meat wasn't the greatest. If you want more greasy delicious gyro meat I'd skip it.
Their burgers are pretty good. Taste different than places like Hodads and even Inn-n-out but still good. -

My family has been going to their University location for nearly 30 years. I was so happy and couldn't believe they were opening a second location right down the street to my house. I hoped the food would be as good as it was at the old location and yes it is still the same excellent food. The owners are usually around and I think thats what gives this place that extra something. They take pride in providing great food.
They have the best Gyros sandwiches in San Diego! The Gyro salad is also so delish with gyro meat sliced ontop of the salad with sliced pita on the side. They have large portions and always have a good quanity of fries with my order which taste so much better than any fast food place around. If you dont plan on eating in call in your order to avoid the wait. This location is a lot larger than the University one and you can usually get a seat if you decide to dine in. Prepare to be full & satisfied! -

One of those rare occasions when the sequel is as good as the original. Same delicious Greek Hamburger joint menu with way more spacious seating.
I finally made it there for the first time today and ordered my Greek favorite of Quarter Chicken with Spanikopita, If you have not tried the Spanikopita please do so immediately, you will not be sorry. I'll upload a picture of my actual meal so you don't have to take my word for it. -
