Review from Johnny H.
Toronto, ON
Electronics store with its focus on computers. Hard drive, graphic cards, RAMs, cases, fans, etc. - anything you would need to turn your PC into a gaming station, work station or some kind of top-secret super machine. There is a decent selection of speakers, monitors and other accessories like printers and cameras as well.
The items are very well organized. It is very clean too. It's not like shady, darkly lit and dusty computer stores. It is very easy to walk around the store and browse the electronics.
The employees are quite helpful. They are all computer geeks, so they gave me thorough explanations about computer stuff. They are quite chill too.
As far as prices go, I think this store is fair. Not too expensive but not bargain either. But this store seems trustworthy. -
Review from Robbie S.
Bradford, ON
(Continued from my first 1-star review for Canada Computers North York)
The icing on the cake comes when I get home to inspect the computer again. I quickly found that the side panel of my Corsair Obsidian case has scratches on it as if it were dragged against a hard surface. I know for certain that I did not do this; the paint on the case was in perfect condition even after I brought it home the first time. I did not scratch the case in transport, as I brought the computer in a soft cover inside of its original box. The scratch is too long to have happened inside of that box. It is an expensive case that sits in my home theatre, in view. The case now has a mark, reminding me of what an ordeal it has been doing business with Canada Computers. This I cannot accept. It is comparable to an auto mechanic scratching a new car's paint.
Now that the work is finished, I can say that I truly regret bringing my PC into Canada Computers. This is not the special care that you mentioned in our first exchange. I have received treatment that is certainly less than special. I hope you agree that this should not be how a customer should be treated, especially after voicing previous issues.
I went to the Vaughan location to pick up my side panel and I met with Teejay at the service centre. He was instantly rude and confrontational. Teejay acted as if he had no idea that I was coming even though he reached for a side panel that was stored behind him. He asked me all sorts of unrelated questions and had a major attitude overall. He questioned me on why I was coming here instead of Finch.
I told him that I spoke with Jamie MacMillan from Canada Computers head office and he understood this (in fact, he finished my sentence) but he still gave me trouble.
It was very obvious that I was authorized by you to swap this part, but he pestered me for a receipt. I repeated that there was no receipt, but he persisted. All the while, Teejay has not even taken a look at the side panel he has been clutching the entire time.
He continued to ask me questions and I told him twice that if he would allow me to check my email, he would see proof there. Eventually he allowed me to show him the proof, but he still wasn't convinced! He still wasn't convinced because he was in a bad mood, not because there wasn't enough evidence.
After a few more minutes of questioning from Teejay, Rocky helped me. Rocky opened the side panel that Teejay had been holding onto. The side panel that was put aside for me was incorrect and was for a Corsair 600 or similar. Not a big deal, but another hiccup.
Rocky took us to the cases, searched around and located a new panel for me. We then went back to the front and handed the case to Teejay and told him to unbox it so I could verify it was the right panel and that it was in new condition. Teejay held the panel at an awkward angle, and when handing the panel over, Teejay physically held onto it instead of handing it to me, I had to actually pull it away from him!
Now that that was finally settled, a third employee told me to wait while he wrote up something for me to sign. The end.
This visit which should have been a simple swap took approximately 20-25 minutes.
I feel like the story I am telling you is unbelievable, but I brought a witness.
I think it would be a great practice for you to employ a secret shopper to expose your employees, and get a real idea of what it is like shopping there.
I should have had a camera recording to show you how difficult this was. This would not happen anywhere else! If you have a access to a security camera recording, I really suggest you to take a look at what happened. I arrived there at approximately 3:35 PM and was in there until 3:55 PM. I am sure that even a video recording without audio would show that Teejay's actions were very strange. He is certainly not fit for retail work, and I would never have someone like him represent my company.
Awful experience, the worst I have ever dealt with in retail. Absolutely ridiculous! -
Review from Edwin A.
I'm the type of shopper that goes in and already has the product in mind. I do all my research before hand and don't consult with sales people when I shop. Tech stores are toys stores to me. If I went in without a clue I would probably impulse buy the whole store. :)
This store is spacious and well stocked. It has many of the items available on the shelves for customers to handle. Fragile or very valuable items like processors, hard drives, motherboards are kept behind the counter.
Canada Computers has handy real time product inventory tracking system on their website showing which of their locations have stock. However if you're coming from a long distance for an item I would strongly recommend checking the site and calling the store to verify stock. (Been accurate in my experience)
What's different between this store and other Canada Computer's? It's larger I find and has a bigger photography section.
I've never had a problem at Canada Computers yet, but I never had to return anything either. :p
