Although I'm not a camper, I travel quite a bit and often find myself needing something new for certain trips. Campers Village has tons of stuff, from shoes and clothing and backpacks, to tents and all kinds of outdoor gear, to books and odds and ends. The store is huge, but well organized and always neat and tidy.

I shopped here most recently as I was looking for a new travel bag and I know they carry a line I like called Pac Safe. I was also looking for hiking shoes as I'm going to be walking the Great Wall and none of the shoes I have are appropriate. I went in in "comparison shopping" mode, as I was planning to go somewhere else after, but the girl who helped me out was really helpful and knowledgeable so I ended up buying a pair right away. Other staff members encountered were also friendly and seem to quite enjoy their jobs.

I would definitely recommend this place and continue to shop here for any type of outdoor/travel gear.

In the states, we have Recreational Equipment Inc. (REI) which is similar to Canada's MEC(?)  REI is pretty much the hiking, camping, climbing mecca.  That being said, I was pleasantly surprised to find a formidable selection of high-end clothing, shoes, and equipment at CV.  I was able to find a few items of clothing that I had not seen in REI.

They carry some of my favorite brands such as:  Mountain Hardwear,  The North Face, Arc Teryx, Columbia, Keen, Asolo, Chaco and Vasque.  The sales associate informed me that the Calgary Trail location carries a broader selection of clothing and that the NW location carries more hardware (tents, climbing gear, boats etc).

I've only been to the Calgary Trail store and was greeted by no less than 4 different staffers in the 1st few minutes of my arrival.  Granted, the place was not filled to the brim, but I was assured that if I had any questions, there was a person within earshot that would assist me.

If you don't have time to shop online, this is a quick fix (even the sale prices seemed a bit high)  I was able to find a MHW Quark jacket online for $125 US shipped whereas CV had it on sale for $225 CN (add the 10% exchange rate and I'd be up to $250+)  Gotta love the net I tell ya.

If I were to live here, this would be my A-list hangout (or at least the place to compare online prices:)

Check it out, go across the way to Starbucks for a grande caramel frappacino, then go and hike off the 400 calories.

This is THE ultimate store for outdoor lovers! It is huge, and the stock is fantastic! Whenever I come in, I feel this unexplainable urge to go hiking, camping or climbing. I also like this store a lot better than Mountain Equipment Co.
Camper's VIllage carries everything from tents to thermal outerwear to running shoes. Everything is of fantastic quality and is priced accordingly. Here you will find such brands as Northface and Patagonia. Every item of clothing is geared towards adventurous and outdoorsy people who also do not shy away from fashionable clothes, and want their sportwear to look good.
Camper's Village selection of tents is mind blowing: baby tents, double tents, 2-room tents, tents big enough to throw parties in...The selection of sleeping bags at all price points is also great.
At times it is hard to receive assistance from customer service representatives though. Other than that - a perfect store!
