Soooo, i was pretty excited to come here. I was back in Van for the week and ready to get my chow on. It was a little gross actually, I pretty much devoured everything that was put in front of me.
Don't get me wrong, I am fed (very well) where I live now, but it's just...different.

So I started with a negroni which is officially my favourite drink now. Delicious. Accmopanied by mixed olives and the salumi plate. The dried salumi was amazing and the pate was surprisingly flavourful if not entirely visually appealing. Devoured and devoured.

I ordered the tagliatelle with pork ragu which in a previously life would not have sounded that appetising but having witnessed similar dishes devoured by friends in other restos i ventured forth. And i was not disappointed...devoured.

BUT when I actually looked up from my food plate I really appreciated teh decor in this place. Relaxed, but cool. Woody and slick without feeling cold. I also loved the back room which is more bar, less resto. Nice to have the option.

    Next time...pizza!

    To be devoured...

After a few pasta pangs have led me in and out with mixed feelings, I've come to realise Campagnolo is solidly 'good', but by no means the exquisite offering I have wanted it to be. If you go, go casual--grab a Campagnolo beer, which is surprisingly refreshing. Nibble on a charcuterie plate or pair up with friends to do the recurring 'pizza and beer for $15' deal after 9pm. In these ways, Campagnolo earns its three stars.

When I have headed in for a sit-down meal, Campagnolo disappoints. The pastas and pizzas are nice--but not exquisite. The portion of Agnolotti pasta in my last visit bordered on paltry and was monotonous on the palate.

Came here with a big group and had a great dinner.

    Order:
    Sloping hill pork roast.
    Cannelloni (with fennel, eggplant, sausage).
    $50 with tip

Both of our dishes were pretty great.

Not the best place on a beautiful spring night. I sat across from a raw concrete wall.  Babies cried and plates crashed.

Chose family servings, (what was avail in market...as I understood.) $35.00 per person.

I felt like we were eating left overs from Gramma Campagnolo's,fridge... Small servings, had no clue what was following. It just kept coming to the table. Nothing meaty in any of the servings but clams. (not a clam lover.) Kept waiting for chicken! Wine was excellent, dessert wonderful, but three small servings for six diners. Had a sample size of each.

Felt like old lady...where's the meat?

Recommend a "Fresh Sheet" for this meal plan, so diners know what is included and that they are not being taken down the green path....

Disappointed, but, I must go back just to to order from the menu.

    Good food; great decor.

Came here for dinner tonight and was impressed as soon as we walked in.  Love the decor...warm wood and cool concrete with exposed beams.

Ordered the infamous chickpeas, and they were delicious.  Then ordered the pizza and it was only ok.

    Glad I finally tried it.

Can I give it 3.5 stars?!

After much hype, and in my quest to find the perfect Vancouver pizza...I finally decided to try Campagnolo.
Colour me surprised when we walked in and there were literally 4 guests in the restaurant.  Every story I've ever heard about Campagnolo was about how it's always packed, you need a reso, etc. Then again, it was a Monday night.

The empty room also meant stellar and attentive service, with drink + food coming out in a flash! For the two of us, we wanted to start out small so we had:

Crispy Ceci (flash-friend chick peas with a ton of greenery and spices): Delicious - soft, yes crispy. Just the right amount of kick. And while the portion doesn't look like a lot, that's a whole lotta protein for 2 people and I was stuffed after 5 spoonfuls.
Salsiccia pizza (Italian sausage): A Huge pizza for just two people...but pretty good.  Toppings were a bit lacking, but overall it was tasty.

Overall, a pleasant dining experience. The fact that it is a sketch area just adds to the appeal of this (not-so-hidden) gem of the Vancouver east side.  I would definitely come back here for a big group party.

    Campagnolo - check!

I trust this place. A modest, unpretentious place, and no reservation. Their pizza is wicked. Came here quite often last year and I'm a huge, huge fan of their carbonara pizza. It's packed with all the goodness one can find: the holy grail of bacon "guanciale". With the perfect crust, egg, chili flakes, I'm floating in joy!!

Then they took carbonara pizza off the menu, I was so upset.. back now it's back in the game.. hopefully for longer time..

My favorite appetizer is their carpaccio but again, it's currently "off" the menu..

They make good secondi too. The meat is always very good, consistent. I like their pork. One small thing they can improve on is the polenta. It's overly mushy, way too much butter and wrong consistency.

I've always figured that pasta and pizza are two of the few foods that I can cook for myself decently, so I've tended to veer away from Italian restaurants.  After paying a visit to Campagnolo, it seems I have been seriously depriving myself over the years!

Loved the look of the restaurant which was warm and inviting, yet modern at the same time.  There were several dishes on the menu I wanted to try, but ended up splitting the Crispy Ceci (chickpeas), Tagliatelle with pork ragu, and the Rigatoni with braised polderside duck. All the dishes were phenomenal.  The crispy ceci very unexpected - in a good way.  Both entrees were also delicious, and while my companions preferred the tagliatelle, I thought the rigatoni stole the show.  I wish I had room for dessert. but sadly I was stuffed.  Alas, I'll be back soon!

My only complaint about this place is that it does not take reservations.  My party of 4 had to wait an hour at 8pm on a Saturday for a table.  Not a good option if you're starving, since it is somewhat awkwardly located (ie: in a sketchy area) and there's few alternatives within safe walking distance.

Amazingly attentive servers in a seductively minimalist space offering a well-curated wine menu alongside some gorgeously delicious rustic Italian that is more than simply pasta and pizza?

    In three words: house-made salumi.

    In two: crispy ceci.

    Comfortable, understated, unpretentious.

    In one word: inspiring.

    1. Crispy ceci & Autumn vegetables
Sorry to say I did not savour the crispy ceci. Maybe I should not pair this with Red wine, maybe better with a beer? They are crispy chickpeas mixed with a bit of mint and chilies, not amazing but interesting I guess
Autumn veggies ok with lots of rubarb, carrots, zucchini, culiflower etc with crispy bread. A little bland tasting

    2. Braised veal with a duck wing, meat ball, a 1.5" sausage, carrots, mushrooms all on a light broth. Garlic & pickled veggies on the side. Rustic but still a light dish. I like the braised veal, very tender. This is an ok dish; however my mind is a tad confused as this should be a rather rustic dish that needs a stronger sauce/broth

    3. Pana cotta & Nutella/chocolate brownie
    Dessert good

Honestly, best choice for ordering should be pizza and beer. Think I ordered all the wrong dishes.

Preamble. It's been a week since I have been out to a restaurant, had a beer, drank a glass of wine.... I miss you guys!!! 5 more weeks training in the gym twice a day and a strict ketosis diet. But wow I am feeling full of energy!

Review: For my last treat before starting on my six week training journey I went to Campagnolo for all my must haves. Pasta, Pizza, beer, wine and Ceci????
What the heck are Ceci and are they any good???

I have passed this place on Main a few times and thought it looked cooool.

We were warmly greeted upon arrival and our server was fun, friendly and sweet.
The place had a warm buzz and was alive. We ordered beer, then shiraz for drinks, which were very reasonable.

Within moments of looking at the menu we had our plan. Ceci, Spaghetti Bolognese, and Pizza Margarita.

Ceci:Our server recommended the ceci which are chick peas and spinach, done to perfection. Crispy munchy, salty. What a magnificent appetizer! Perfect for beer.
    5/5

Pasta:Pork tenderloin braised pulled meat with a lovely tomato sauce, piping hot to table. Another winner. Not too heavy, just right for a 5/5.

Pizza:I am a Pizza lover and I love my pizza perfect. Tonight's pizza was slightly overcooked and dry. Overall this is one lovely pizza, but my heart belongs to Nicli.
    3/5

Overall this cute, quaint spot is calling me when I am done this training. Perfect date spot, offering a great feeling by wonderful staff.

and it's really close to Keefer bar for a some after dinner drinks...

Came for a work Christmas dinner here and we had a private 2nd floor room to ourselves.  The way the set menu worked for us is was a communal style of dining -  we had 10+ dishes passed around per table so it was great that we could try many dishes on the menu.

All their pizzas were made thin and crispy and not too heavy.  Squash risotto was in a lot of sauce so it was almost a bit soupy (not in a bad way).  Spaghetti al Pomodoro was my favourite dish - looked super plain at first glance but really nicely seasoned and I loved the texture of the pasta.

    I've been missing out.

Finally got a chance to try out Campagnolo. A warm space, wide open, with simple wooden tables and dark grey chairs. Once we sat down, we were greeted immediately and served waters.

Their menu has lots of different pastas and pizzas, as well as inventive appetizers and cured meat plates.

    Items ordered:

Crispy Ceci:chickpeas, chilies, mint, citrus-this was too good! Served like a salad, within a bed of greens, the crispy chickpeas was a bit addictive. A great start to our meal.

Tagliatelle with pork ragú, basil, pecorino romano cheese. Pork was so tender, and the tomato basil sauce was perfect.

Rigatoni with braised polderside duck, chard, cipollini, crackling. A simple light dish, with a hint of sweetness to the overall flavour.

And a Salsiccia pizza with fennel sausage, arugula, parmigiano reggiano and chilies. Loved this. A light crust, and the arugula complemented the whole pizza well.

Of course, to end the meal:

Apple Crostada: maple crema, caramel. Essentially an apple strudel, with a creamy maple caramel sauce. So awesome.

Service was excellent throughout the meal, water glasses were refilled, drink orders were delivered promptly, and attentiveness was at utmost.

Can't wait to return for more!!

    Delicious pastas.
    Yummy pizzas.
    Great wine.
Get the crispy ceci! It's like a salad of deep fried, crispy chick peas.
The heirloom tomatoes and buffalo mozzarella with olive oil and basil were to die for! I never had such amazing tomatoes!

I love that the restauranteur came to check up on us several times to ensure we enjoyed ourselves.

Wow, I didn't expect to give this place top ratings as I liked Nicli and the other places so much. In fact, this place wasn't really on my radar, the NEED TO DO SOME/BETTER MARKETING, as I only heard about them accidentally. I know they did some before (just checked their social media) but that dropped off completely.

I only went in there when I went to Pizza Farina this morning, only to find that they were closed, so as this place was a block away I went there as a last resort.

The outside and inside look very nice, very clean and spacious. Nice room atmosphere, open space and tables, plates, cutlery.

I told the waiter that I only had a half hour for lunch right when I got in. He seated me by the window and the waitress came by with some water and I ordered the standard...the mahgerita pizza (fior di latte mozzarella, tomato sauce, basil leafs). She then brought me a plate of chilli peppers, paremsan, and dried orgeano on the twig. Very nice touch

The pizza came. It was HUGE (http://www.yelp.ca/biz...)  and it was delicious. I liked the dough/crust which was very light. Nice hard on the outside, soft on the inside....like it should be. Sauce was good, cheese was great.

And the wait staff was great, with them coming to check in on my meal, and bringing me my bill early as they remembered I was in a rush.

In the end I tipped $5 on the $12.5 pizza (40% tip) as that how much I liked them. Truly a standout, I can't wait to try more things there.

So far in my pizza quest as of today, I liked Campagnolo the best, followed by Nicli, followed by a tie between Novo and Bibo with Verace not quite hitting the mark in last place.

Went here for the umpteenth time the other night, without a reso, and after the early movie.  Were seated in the best seat in the house--with the "view" (as the host politely and humorously noted). No wait time! Yay!

Ate the pizza, the pasta and a few glasses of vino.

Very reasonably priced, and still the BEST pizza and freshest pasta for a cas place in the city. Now, if only they'd bring back the breadsticks....

A note to the chef: I love broccolini and all, and I love veggies, but the bitter tasting veggie (as you pointed out) also tasted bitter on the pizza. Much like the chick pea salad is like ordering peanuts for an appetizer. We know that you are capable of so much more!

One of my favourite places as of late!

The first time it was a bit tricky to find, but just look for the Hotel Ivanhoe on Main St and it's right beside it. There's two things that I love here: Pork Ragu Tagliatelle and Ricossa Barbaresco. They make a decent pizza here too - thin-crusted and baked, and after 9:30pm on weekdays, you can get it with a beer for $14.

Given all the great reviews on Yelp, and just how damn adorable the restaurant looked inside & out, I reaaaaallllyyyy wanted to like Campagnolo. To be honest it kind of breaks my heart to give this place two stars...it's really more like 2.5*.

I went with a party of 4 for dinner, and we immediately ordered the Crispy Ceci and a Funghi Pizza to start. We all found the chickpeas almost inedibly salty, and the mushroom pizza had the most pitiful topping of mushrooms I've ever seen - chanterelles are listed on the menu, but there were none on ours.

For our mains, we all shared the Agnolotti, Linguine, Ricotta & Ramp Gnuddi. They were all just "okay" in the sense that I didn't mind eating it, but if you asked me about my meal the next day I'd be hard pressed to recall anything about it. The food was, regretfully, forgettable.

Maybe it's the staff who seem so in love with the food, or the place itself, which is really just too cute for words...but I am determined to like this place one day. So I'm going to go back with big hopes that this time my Ceci won't be over-salted, a pasta will blow me away, and that they don't spit in my food once they realize it's the "bad review girl."

Came to Campagnolo with a friend after wandering around Chitown with no idea where to go. The atmosphere is great inside, and the food is very good and fresh. I loved the server we had, she was really knowledgeable about each dish and provided great recommendations!

We had the chickpea appetizer, which was a clear winner. That dish is to die for - I could eat a whole bowl of that stuff for a meal. We split up a pasta and a pizza, both were delicious :) Overall it's a great place (it gives a strange vibe of being casual but dressy at the same time, I felt a bit out of place in my sneakers) for a nice party or a special dinner out that won't leave your wallet crying.

I was looking for a restaurant that was 'safe' enough to take my suburban mum, trendy enough to bring the downtown boyfriend and nice that I could relax and enjoy my evening out. This was it - Thank you fellow Yelpers!

The menu is short in description but the staff are friendly and knowledgable, it was ensured we were all on the same page when ordering.

*Order wine by the glass, not the half litre. They need to work on their pricing. This was pointed out to us by our friendly waitress.*

Our appy was the chickpeas. "Stay safe mum" and 'trendy boyfriend loved 'em." Oh, I did too!

It took me forever to try Campagnolo, dissuaded a few times because of the crazy lines. Once we successfully braved the wait for the fist time, Campagnolo was added to our dining short list.

Here's a quick overview of my Campagnolo experiences:
The servers are lovely. Absolutely lovely. I hosted a large group event at the restaurant in June. At that time, I was avoiding eggs and couldn't partake in dessert. I was happy to sip my cocktail while my friends enjoyed their sweets. To my surprise, the server brought over a flute of dessert wine for me. It was the nicest dessert wine I've ever had, and was a wonderful surprise.

My favourite menu items at Campagnolo is the seared octopus (!!!!). It is so tender and flavourful. Combined this dish with any pasta or pizza and you are guaranteed to have a wonderful meal.

Why this isn't five stars: that group dinner I mentioned. The food was delicious, and the family style services was wonderful. Sadly, after the meal many of my friends admitted that they left hungry. The portions for the group meal were inadequate, and I don't think were worth the per person price. So, go enjoy Campagnolo's fresh and flavourful menu... just don't do it with the group menu ;)

After 9:00 p.m. (and 8:30 p.m on Sundays) you can get a whole pizza + beer for $14. That's pretty good for a hip, buzzing place with good food and even better service. I love the ambiance and glow created by the lights bouncing off all the wooden walls and ceilings.

I'm bummed that the CARBONARA PIZZA is (temporarily) off the menu, but other options make for tasty, thin-crust eats.

The LIVER SPREAD is really nice; however, I don't think I'd bother ordering the BRUSCHETTA again.

My only gripe about the food is that anything with "mushrooms" in it turns out to be less tasty than you think.

This place is literally a hole in the wall.  Drove by here for who knows how long and didn't know it existed until today.

It's pretty neat and trendy in the Yaletown sort of way.  Not sure if it's natural or not but basically it feels like a remodeled warehouse, with the bare concrete floor and the unfinished ceilings.

The food here is simply amazing.  The portions aren't superhuge, but are quite decent.  Presentation is excellent.  Value is great.

Pizzas - awesome thin crust across the board.  Toppings are a bit light but my understanding is that this is the authentic way.  Served with a dish of garnish consisting of parmesan, oregano, and chili flakes.
Margherita - just a thin later of tomato and herbs.  Very subtle but great flavour.
Carbonara - plenty of chunks of meat.  Interestingly served with a raw egg on 1 of the slices.  We were told by the waitress to save that piece for last and dip the pieces of crust into it.
Salsiccia - this one was covered with some type of leaf, so it looked like a salad.  Similar to Margherita, but with a meaty flavour as this one had fennel sausage as one of the toppings.

    Pasta:
Tofette - generous chunks of sausage, and the shell pasta made it easy to scoop up the toppings along with it.
Tagliatelle - really beautifully done pasta.  Nice and light, with the perfect amount of tomato.
Linguini (with clams) - probably the best I have had anywhere, hands down.  The pasta was light, and the sauce was not greasy at all!  Clams were fresh.

    Dessert:
Tiramisu - served in a fairly large glass.  You can taste the alcohol.
Pannacotta - pieces of prunes(?) and mint leaves on top.  Very unique texture as it tastes like a drier version of yogurt.
ChocolateTerrine - nice thick chunks of chocolate, with bits of fruit and nuts on top.

It is very rare that I cannot think of a single bad thing to say about an establishment.  Campagnolo gets my highest praise.  From now I am using this place as my benchmark for Italian food.  Definitely recommended.

Not quite sure how Campagnolo managed to be rated so highly in comparison to other Vancouver Restaurants which serve similar cuisine like Tavola and Nook which are much much better.

The service from the waitress was excellent - however the hostess was fairly clueless.  We arrived a 6pm on a Friday and waited 45 minutes for a table which we expected.

The food took over an hour to arrived after we ordered and was pretty average. The pasta was sticky and hard to separate and the pizza was only OK.

Sure the ChickPea dish was interesting, but the deep fried gnocchi was awful.

I would suggest that if you are looking for excellent Italian with a modern twist go somewhere else. Try Tavola as I mentioned, or even Nook which is simpler and a little cheaper, they are both MUCH better.

We had a great night at Campagnolo.  Our party of 8 was well looked after, the server was really on her game that night.   From time to time, when you are with a party of 5 or more, the service drops off a little.  Our server kept up with our drink orders and made some great suggestions off he menu.

My wife and I opted to share the Ricotta and spinach gnudi and the Salsiccia pizza w/ fennel sausage(Yum!!).  We started off with the fried chickpeas.  All were fantastic.

    I would definitely go back.

Crispy Ceci - this will keep me coming back.  The texture of the chick peas was exquisite.  We also had a daily special pizza.  The crust was outstanding: crunchy and soft at the same time.  Not too overloaded with toppings, which was good. The restaurant ambiance was elegant and casual at the same time.  The server was knowledgeable and brought me a prosecco sample to help me make a drink choice.

Friday night I hopped in a taxi after work and took the long ride from Kitsilano to Main & Terminal. I was meeting a group of friends at Campagnolo, listed as 'affordable, casual Italian dining in a warm and welcoming space' by their website.

I expected to be the fashionably late arrival but, much to my surprise, I was the second one there. We waited for the rest of our party to arrive and then to be seated, which took a little longer than I would've liked. The frustration of waiting was tempered by the delicious smells of dishes being brought to the tables of people who had already been sat. Jerks!

We sat, we ordered, we drank and we ate. Campagnolo more than lived up to the description on the website. I ordered the marinated olives (cerignola, matequilla, peppadew) and the Crispy Ceci, pan-fried chickpeas with chillies, mint and citrus, as appetizers for the table. The olives were good but the Ceci was great! The combination of slightly fried chick peas and mint was the perfect thing to whet our appetites.

I ordered the small size Orecchiette, a pasta dish with fennel sausage, rapini, garlic, parsley and breadcrumbs. I have eaten at a lot of different pasta places in my time and I have to say, that Campagnolo managed to balance a comfortable, inviting atmosphere with affordable, yet artisanal cuisine. This place is a must. To top it all off, my taxi cab was just over $20, almost the same cost as my entire meal once we split up the bill. Seems like a fair price to pay.

Comfortable, casual Italian in a small contemporary space on Main - good for dining at often and any day of the week. It's another spot in Vancouver that proves delicious, quality food doesn't have to be expensive.

Perfect portions at a reasonable price - tonight my girlfriend and I enjoyed:

    - Beef Carpaccio with salsa verde, herb & lemon focaccia ($13)  - Recommend!
    - Seared Octopus with nugget potatoes, olives, lardo, frisee lettuce ($13)
    - Salsiccia pizza with fennel sausage, arugula, parmigiano reggiano, chilies ($15) - Recommend!

    Will definitely be back!

The restaurant sits in a shady area, so, girls, be cautious when coming at night. Because we came as a large group, we had the $35pp family-style special. I do remember the crispy ceci being good, as everyone seems to think. Their pastas and pizzas are decent as well. The warm lighting and the buzz of vinographers kept the mood alive.

The Ceci (deep fried chick peas) is a must. It is not the typical fried appetizer and it has fresh herbs and olive oil. I can eat a bowl of them myself.

Also, a few times I have had the veggie entree (I think it changes depending on what is in season), and this dish rocks (Im not even vegetarian).

If you are not sitting at the banquet tables, the chairs are a little hard. I guess they don't want you staying there long so they can turnover the tables faster.

    Otherwise I recommend it.

We went on a friday night, yes I know its friday night and wait can be long. but never expect to wait THIS Long.  We got there at 7pm and the hostess told us we can wait upstair and have some drinks in the mean time. so we did.  The hostess told us the wait was approx. 45mins long and there was 3 table of 4 in front of us. Before we went, we also went on yelp to read their reviews, therefore, expected their food and service to be pretty good.

After an hour, most of the people up in the cafe area that came before us had gone down to be seated. So we thought we are getting close to have a table.  so after another 15mins, I went down to ask the hostess if she knows we are still waiting for a table and are upstair waiting patiently.  She said she knows and they are of course back up.  The entry hall had tons of people there waiting. So i went back up.

After another 30mins, everyone who sat in the cafe before and after us had already went down and got a table! There was groups of 2 to 3s, and most people got seated.  So then, our whole party got kinda annoyed.  We all decided to go down and stood in the entry hall and wait.  During that time, we notices there was other groups that literally walk in and got SEATS BEFOre we did. WTF!  I got so pissed at the HOSTESS (CURLY HAIR, who thinks she is hot) so after 2 hours, FINALLY, we got a table.  WHen we went down to wait, we notices there was few Empty tables there and no one was being seated.  I'm not sure who's fault is it, the hostess or the management issue.

Anyways, we sat down and quickly ordered our food and the food came really fast. We ordered the Chick ceci appet, and the buschetta, both was not bad, but soso. Our friends were basically sharing everything, we also ordered the chicken risotto, the sloping pork? (forgot the exact name) and the carbonara pizza to share.  THe chicken risotto, mmmm maybe it wasn't my taste, the tuna in the center was cold and from my perspective, risotto shoudn't be so creamy. It was like drinking cream of mushroom soup.  The pizza was the only decent food on the table tonight. and the pork, sigh, for $21. it feels like the chau sui on top of ramens. it was totally NOT worth it.

After waiting 2 hours, my conclusion was THIS restaurant is NOT worth the 2 hour wait. Even if i didn't have to wait, I know I won't come back ever.  CUz I know for the price I"m paying (eventhough its not an expensive menu) I can get MUCH better quality food.

Last year my girlfriend and I won a gift certificate for Campagnolo. It's not the type of place we'd normally have tried, just because we're vegan and it's not a vegan restaurant, which usually means frustration. However, because we had the gift certificate, I emailed Campagnolo and asked what they could do for us.

They were incredibly helpful and receptive. There are a couple dishes on the menu that are default vegan and some things that can be prepared vegan, so we were well taken care of. We were seated in the back room, too, which was nicely private for our date night until the place got busier around 9.

We started with the crispy ceci, which were perfectly spiced, baked chickpeas, lemony, with greens. Incredible! I didn't want them to be finished. I wanted to eat them forever.

Next, we had a risotto, prepared without cream or cheese. It was very nicely done, and quite flavourful considering that they had cut out some of the ingredients which probably give it its oomph.

Our server recommended the wine we drank, which was refreshing and beautiful. The whole experience was comfortable; we felt pampered, really well taken care of. As vegans, it's easy to visit a restaurant and feel like a pain in the ass for the server and the kitchen the whole time, but we didn't feel that way at all at Campagnolo.

Oh Campagnolo, how you make me swoon......

Your chicken liver mousse bruschetta with red wine spiced figs makes me weak at the knees. Good lord, what individual bites of perfection!

    Things I loved:

    * Modern yet relaxed decor. Concrete block walls, exposed timber beam ceilings (old-growth fir to be exact!), great "homemade chandeliers" with 6 different globes bound together (very creative!)

    * Professional but personable service, very attentive.

    * Simple and delicious food with great quality ingredients. Very true Italian inspiration with a clean finish.

    * Excellent Italian wine selection and, of course, an enviable Grappa menu (make sure you try it Resentin: after finishing a cup of espresso with sugar, a few drops of Grappa are poured into the nearly empty cup, swirled and drunk down in one sip).

    * Soooo well-priced. We had two appetizers, one mid course and one main course, one dessert, one bottle of vino, 2 espressos (one resentin with Grappa) and one dessert wine for $140-ish (excluding tip), VERY reasonable.

The seared octopus appetizer was a totally unexpected flavor combination that worked incredibly well.

The ricotta and spinach Gnudi was simple and perfect.

The Tagliatelli with pork ragu, basil and pecorino was such a generous portion for $19 and was so satisfying.

We ordered a side order of crispy cauliflower with parsley and bacon. One order at $6 is enough for two people.

I also highly recommend the bread and butter pudding, the delicate flavor combination of butter and orange was a great way to finish a meal with a decent espresso.

They use 49th Parallel for their coffe. I would have preferred a local roaster with true Italian blends like Milano Coffees, but hey, thats a minor adjustment! I think their La Futura or Conca D'Oro blend would have been the perfect finish.

    Campagnolo is economical dining bliss!

A really pleasant place to dine. Atmosphere relaxing, decor comfortable and the service superb.
Spring salad was a good vegetable combo dressed just right and the trout poached in olive oil on a bed of creamy orzo with morels, peas and greens was a delight.
    I'll be back.

There are so many - and yet not enough - good things I could write about Campagnolo (amazing food overall, friendly service, dedicated chef, very well designed space, etc.), but if you're like me, all you really need to know is this:

After aeons of deprivation, there is now finally one single place in Vancouver that makes the true, authentic, inimitable bubbly goodness that is real Italian (or, rather, Neapolitan) pizza. Halle-bloody-lujah!

Tucked away on main street in an area where you wouldn't normally find a restaurant like this one. Classy, yet unpretentious and decor is simple, yet fitting for the environment. The ceilings as you enter have wooden panels, and you walk into a dimly lit room with lots of open space, but seated with lots of people at all corners. You have a view of what's happening in the kitchen and the staff is patient and helpful.

My girls and I were so cold, so we were all in the mood for hot water and lemon. The waitress was always so friendly to fill up our little mugs. We decided to share a few dishes, although the lasagna deal was really one that was hard to say no to. The portion that came out of the kitchen looked like it could feed at least two, but we still steered away from that to try the more well known dishes - Ceci, and flatbread.

Finally- I get to try the CECI - One of Vancouver's TOP 100 Things to eat before you die!
Fried crispy chickpeas accompanied by minty flavour and other spices. Despite it being a one of a kind food that I'm glad I tried, it wasn't my thing. I guess I'm so use to the regular texture of chickpeas that it being fried made it seem..... off. I didn't feel that the mint gave it much flavour but I'm sure it is favoured by many others. Definitely still glad I gave it a try.

For the mains - we shared the Pappardelle pasta with fennel sausage, rapini, garlic, parsley, and breadcrumbs and one of the pizzas (can't remember at the top of my head which one!) I have to say tha the pasta was delicious! Once the breadcrumbs got tossed into the pasta, everything went so perfectly together. I love thick pasta because it holds all the toppings together so well and the flavours really came through.

The pizza,  at first glance, was very surprising to me because the edges were super puffy and I thought it was thin crush, but once you bite into the middle, the dough thins out and every bite just seems like you're in Italy (although I've never been but I can only imagine).

This sister restaurant to Refuel really lived up to my expectations and I can assure you that if you're up got carb heaven, this is the place to get it.
