I called Chris after reading these amazing reviews.
It's all true. He answers the phone himself. He calls to let you know exactly when he's coming (if he's a little behind or ahead of schedule). He smiles and wears those respectful blue booties in your house so as not to grub up the floor. He actually fixes the appliance! And he's polite and smiles and then, get this: he actually tells you if your machine is pooched and you should just buckle down and get a new one. Just like other people mentioned, it makes more sense for him to keep coming back time and time again to replace the various crappy parts on the machine than to say, "Listen, there's no hope."
So impressed. He billed for half his time since he couldn't fix the problem by replacing a part, and he even wrote us an email to forward to the landlord so we had some kind of proof for why we couldn't just replace the automatic transmission in the dryer--that's what they're called, right? Kidding, it was some stupid dryer seal that was installed backwards at the factory.
Was completely impressed with the service start to finish and heaven forbid anything breaks down again, I'ma have Chris on speed dial.
Did I mention how NICE he is? Seriously. Great guy. -

I called Cambie Appliance Repair & Refrigeration. I got Chris. He is a super friendly and capable guy who arrived on time and fixed the dishwasher quite quickly. There was time left in the paid hour and he filled it answering my questions about best practice usage of my appliances.
Chris exceeded my expectations. No hesitation calling him again if I need his services. -

Helpful, smart, efficient, economical and incredibly courteous and friendly. Chris runs this independent business himself and he runs it well. I heard about Chris and Cambie Appliance while desperately trying to find someone to fix a washer / dryer unit that has been a problem since day one... a task that is becoming harder and harder to accomplish these days. Cambie Appliance had great reviews from several people on Google and Chris was able to schedule me quickly into his work week.
Upon seeing my machine he quickly declared "Run & Hide!" as I apparently purchased a particularly problematic unit. His concern was that while he could order the parts and fix the machine he knew from experience it was a fruitless endeavour as I would be calling him again in a year or two as the new parts quickly wore out. Remember, this means he gets less business, anyone who has the best interests of their customers as the primary concern these days deserves a frickin' medal!
He gave me some excellent suggestions on other models that make more sense for my situation and that he believes to be less needy in the maintenance & repair category. Again, technically he stands to lose business by suggesting these models but I sincerely believe Chris wants to offer an old-school level of service and I truly admire him for that.
Having said all this, I asked him if he could at least get the machine up and running temporarily in order to run a few loads through it while I shopped for a replacement setup. Sure enough he pulled the whole thing apart and came up with an impromptu solution which may in fact increase the life of the system for a good while yet. No parts, just some vinyl rope and a whole lot of creative thinking and it was flying without hesitation. He even made a few customizations for me to make it run a bit better and gave me several tips on how to optimize performance and minimize wear and tear on all washing machines and my dishwasher. Chris rightfully charged me for his time, a very reasonable amount and he was on his way. Another very happy customer in his wake!
Needless to say I was really happy with Chris' work. He is a great guy and I would not hesitate for a second to suggest him to anyone who is desperately looking for an alternative to the corporate BS others in these industries offer their customers on a regular basis.

We're a company in the Vancouver area, and have had no luck in any repair person even returning our calls or email enquiries. When our dishwasher broke I googled (yet again) looking for appliance repair persons in the Vancouver area. Cambie Appliance came up first and I sent him our info.
Chris replied to our email that very day, with date and time suggestions for him to come in and take a look and tips on what we may be able to do to ourselves to fix the problem. As we didn't have the correct tools Chris came - early, fixed the problem and was friendly, helpful and left us with tips for the future.
I would recommend Chris to anybody and am only sad that he doesn't service outside of Vancouver so we could recommend him to all our friends in the Lower Mainland! You need look no further for a helpful, honest, efficient, friendly and knowledgeable appliance repair person. -

My dishwasher wasn't draining properly, so I looked online at other reviews. The other reviews were very positive, so I called Cambie Appliance Repair. I must say Chris was awesome. Not only did he fix the problem, he gave me a lot of advice on using my dishwasher...so he wouldn't have to come back! I would recommend him to anyone. A five-star rating is a no-brainer for this guy. Give him a call.

I am the most positively reviewed appliance repair technician in Vancouver. All calls are direct to me (the technician). When you call keep in mind I am most likely on the job in someone's home so I will ask very specific questions to get brief answers and help you as politely and efficiently as possible. I was born and raised in Vancouver. I was lucky to have one of the best in the business as my mentor. I studied appliance repair at Kwantlen Poly-Tech.
I created Cambie Appliance Repair to be able to give customers an alternative to the status quo. I answer the calls myself (no call centre or automated voice). I set appointment times (not time "windows" that keep you waiting all day). I give the same advice I would give to my friends and family. I work for you, not a large company or a manufacturer. I've found that keeping customers happy keeps me happy too. I give advice to help you understand what is happening and how to keep your appliances running smoothly. I'm the first to say when it is not worth fixing an appliance and when I do, I follow it up with advice on which appliance you should get to replace it. I do not sell appliances and I see broken ones everyday, so you can trust my advice is truly to your benefit (not to collect a commission).
