Last year this library was updated, and I think it's for the better. It's always been one of the better libraries to go to for quaintness and intimacy, as it's been my experience that every other library in Calgary is big & sprawling & overwhelming.
They now have the computers in a little area of their own, instead of all lined up against one wall. They now have a self-checkout stand for convenience (not that the lineups ever get too long there). Of course they still offer childrens programs, etc.
As well, it is conveniently located just next to North Hill Centre, if you have any shopping you want to do on your library day, i.e., picking something up at Safeway :) -

I like this library. Its situated conveniently (for me at least), and is very hassle-free. There is a wide variety of books, magazines, CDs, DVDs, and has a spot right beside the windows with tables and chairs. makes for a fine Friday afternoon when you just want to kick back for a few hours and read in the peace and quiet of the library with the sun beaming down on you.
And you can take out a LOT of books at once. I think the limit is 99. So no worries there. No limiting yourself.
Not to mention free wi-fi if you're a member.
Really like this place, and I go there often! -

Having seen this library about a zillion times in my travels, I thought it was due time for me to actually step foot inside. Yesterday I made an impromptu stop as I travelled via C-Train.
First things first: Could this library be ANY easier to get to?!?!? It's situated right across (literally a 10 second walk across the street) from the Lion's Park C-Train stop.
The library itself looks quite small, until you step foot inside. It's a lot bigger than I expected it to be - looks really can be deceiving!
They've got 10 complimentary computers with Internet access available to everyone, immaculate washrooms right at the door, a calm, quiet crowd and a very friendly and efficient staff.
I'm most definitely a fan of this branch. Easy to get to, cool vibe, and shopping right next door - I'm one happy camper! -

The Louise Riley branch of the Calgary Public Library is small and quaint, but packs a surprising amount of punch in its book selection. It is always bustling when I go in, but never packed. They have a small reading area with tables and chairs that is perfect for late night studying. This library is well lit, with a soft yellow glow that doesn't hurt your eyes staring at it. They have a great selection of kids books, a decent non-fiction section and feature book readings on a fairly regular basis.
Although it is fairly small, this location was renovated recently and is a great place to stop and grab some info. The handy hold system of the library means that even if they don't have that book, you can request a pick-up at any location. All in all, one of my favourite locations.
