Calabria is a great Italian restaurant located in the Glebe. I've eaten there once and ordered delivery from them many times, and their food has always remained consistent.
The prices for their pizzas might seem high, but it is 2 for 1 and they're made with high quality ingredients. My favorite is their Calabria Special with thin crust. It's packed with meat and vegetables, though it's really salty, which some people may enjoy, while others will not.
Their appetizers and sides are also really salty and tasty. Their deep-fried zucchini, breaded and deep-fried smelts, calamari, escargot, garlic bread, and bruschetta are all made so well and taste so good.. and these are only starters!
Every time I ordered from them, I vowed to always try something new. You can count for yourself how many times I came back for more from the following list of dishes I've had: veal marmigiana with spaghetti, veal combination with gnoccho and fettuccine, filet mignon, homemade gnocchi with alfredo sauce, tortellini with white sauce, cheese cannelloni, lasagna, spaghetti carbonara, cold cut combo sub, hot roast beef sub, and steak sub. In my defense, I did share some of these meals with a friend and/or saved the leftovers to eat as another meal, but, regardless, I know, I know, I'm a Hungry, Hungry Hippo. Well, you know what? It was well worth it! The food is just so rich and tasty, and such great comfort food. We'd really wrack up the bills when we'd order from here, though, as it's not exactly student budget friendly. This place has a nice selection of Italian dishes, everything from gnocchi to pizza. Their pizza is quite good, I'd say one of the better places in Ottawa. They also deliver and are open fairly late. However, the pizza isn't the typical 2 inches of cheese and 3 inches of crust pizza you find in Ottawa. It's more thin crust and they use less cheese, the sauce is tomatoey and delicious and the crust has a bit of a sweet taste to it.
The pasta I've had from here is horrible. I got a combination dish with lasagna, canneloni, and gnocchi and I thought all three were disgusting. Then for some reason I ordered their alfredo the next time which was also horrible.
I'd recommend their pizza, skip on the pasta.. Although Amanda says it's quite good and I trust her reviews! Perhaps I got unlucky? -
