I have been to this place twice now and really would like to recommend it.

The first time I had a tall size latte to go, and it was indeed one of the best lattes I ever had. It is rich, aromatic, smooth and most importantly not bitter at all - which is very much to my liking.

Recently I had americano and blueberry scone with butter and I ate it in. They were pretty good as well.

People working there are really really friendly and quite surprisingly the stuff they sell are reasonably priced. Absolutely will go again to try their specialty coffees.

I definitely wasn't familiar with the sit down coffee bar sort of place.. but after my wifi and chocolate croissant let down with Thomas Haas, I thought I would venture over here and grab a quick snack.  And yes, they have wifi!

My hot chocolate was the thick drinking chocolate kind! It was unexpected but delicious. And with it I got a yummy crunch-on-the-outside-chewy-inside amaretto cookie and a chocolate marble shortbread cookie.  Perfect snack on a rainy day.

And the best part is that I got a seat at the corner window so as I am typing this I can watch people go by.

Plus, they have a clean, large bathroom.

Look out North America, the European coffee bars are coming to show us how it's really done.

This is not your drive thru S*rbux. When you enter a Coffee Bar, you sit down. A server comes to YOU. With a menu no less. Yes sir!

We knew something was different as we walked up to the counter and we had caught a look.

"Have a seat where ever you like..."  oh really?
    Well okaythen!
The menu consists of exotic coffee drinks laden with whipped creams of different flavours. (!) The Cocolino is a coconut coffee with Coconut cream and bits of coconut. Then there's the Bananino, with Banana, (duh...!)

On the front counter there is a very expensive looking hot Chocolate mixer, stirring up thick rich chocolate for drinking.
This is so far from the weigh-watcher chart you may as well quit your membership now.

When I die, just roll me in that thick creamy chocolate, pour on some espresso and stick a straw in me.
    I'm done.

Uh, oh ya, and they have desert too.

Based on the reviews I was expecting a bit more and instead found it somewhat overpriced. A latte came to just under $5 and was served in a drinking glass meant for cold drinks. This was weird to me, and I couldn't hold the glass for long because it was pretty hot. It was only a single shot too. I thought it was a neat touch how it came separately and you pour it into the steamed/frothed milk yourself. The espresso is pretty tasty actually.

The atmosphere is nice. They have one table outside. It looks fancier than your average coffee shop. The seating is comfortable, they have wifi, and there was an outlet right near my table. It was empty when I went, which is what I was looking for because I needed to get some work done. Service is fairly friendly.

Their loyalty card doesn't seem like the best value. Buy 10 drinks to get the next free (so long as it's under $4 value). So basically you're buying overpriced lattes and at the end of it all you can't get a free one. I don't know what costs under $4 there, but if a latte was $5 I can't imagine much other than drip coffee or tea.

You get better value at nearby places like Oz Coffee and Caffè Artigiano. I skipped those two because I was looking for a quieter spot. Only go here if you don't feel like being in a crowd and don't mind paying more than average for a coffee.

    Was this review …?

A coffee shop in Kits where you can still find a table on a bluebird Saturday morning? While we were a little apprehensive when we peered in and the place was empty (seriously - I'm used to squeezing myself into the last free space on the coffee bar any time the sun comes out in Kits), we ended up very impressed by this new kid on the Broadway block.

The staff were friendly and quick to help us pull a couple of their small tables together. I had an organic chai latte, which was delicate and gorgeous - second best in town, after East is East! The decor is crisp and clean, the place immaculately taken care of, and the chai, coffee and pastries are delicious. Yummy coffee and plenty of options for tea-lovers as well.

It's a small place, hasn't been open long, and deserves to be busy, so I'm sure in a few weeks I'll be getting used to squeezing my way into their bar stool seating, too!

First genuine, contemporary Italian cafe at it's best in Vancouver! Excellent coffees and related drinks made to perfection. Pleasant atmosphere and decor. Professional yet personal service. Excellent panini sandwiches and Italian pastries. my favorite cafe either for a morning espresso, snac, social an business meetings!
Feels like an escape to Italy.......
    As good as it gets!

After meticulously looking for a good Italian coffee in Vancouver for more than one year we have finally found the place to go :)
Cafe 1882 Vergnano is a small place on Broadway Street between Trafalgar and Larch St. and is actually the first North American franchise of a renowned Italian coffee. The second branch will open in NYC or so the manager told us.
Once seated you are given a very detailed menu with all the coffee variations that this place offers. There are also very clear pictures in case you wonder what a marocchino or a coccolino look like.
Lets get to the point. The cappuccino that we tried was by far the best cappuccino in Vancouver if you judge by Italian standards (my husband IS Italian).
We also tried the traditional ricotta cheesecake and that alone is a reason to come back every day of the year. Really really really yummy and not as heavy or buttery looking as in other places (I'm looking at you, Trees Organic).
Prices were more than reasonable (cappuccino was $3,25; cheesecake $5)
We are VERY HAPPY to have finally found a cafe that is on par with the best "bars" in Italy.
Highly recommended for whoever is looking for that type of experience. Not recommended if you want a S'bux type of experience.
RECOMMENDATION FOR SUMMER: TRY CREMINO :*
