The day this place opened right next door to where I work, my waistline took a double hit. Firstly, it's too easy to pop in for a coffee. Secondly, when I do want a coffee, I no longer had the two-block walk to Hastings.

Over the years since that fateful day, I have to say that Artigiano has slipped a little from its previously unassailable position as the cream of downtown coffee spots. The sale of the brand by the founders was the main contributing factor. The staff are still awesome from a customer service point of view, but you don't get quite the same sense of dedication to creating the perfect coffee experience.

All in all, though, it remains a cut above most other offerings in the vicinity. In particular, you can still depend upon them to turn out a high-quality beverage without a lot of awkward standing around. Especially when you go there so often, they start making the drink before you order it!

Bleh, awful Americano. Sour sour sour. Bitter bitter bitter. And the ultra weird thing is that it tasted a wee bit spicy?!?!

I have been going to Caffe Artigiano for a while and altough I really like their cofee I experienced a very illogical situation.

I was trying to buy a pound of coffee and as they were sold out but I was told that I could get 2 half pounds but that the price will be different.

I contacted their head office and apparently it looked that they agreed with the fact that I shouldn't be paying a different price as it was not my fault that they ran out of 1 pound bags but somehow this was never related to the store as I went back and was told that they still didn't have 1 pound bags and that the price would be the different as there is more cost involved on getting two half pound bags...

Not impressed with General Manager of Granville location.

Anyone who knows anything about coffee knows that Artigiano serves it. I am pleased to say that I used to get my coffee here. In fact you would be fortunate to enjoy a great cup of coffee here because no coffee is better than the coffee at Artigiano.

I urge you to waste no time in trying the coffee at Artigiano. I cannot say enough good things about this caffe and I can't recommend them too highly.

There's nothing like a great caffe and Artigiano is nothing like a great caffe.

The first time in a long time since I had tried another coffee company other than my usual Starbucks.

Ordered an extra hot caramel macchiato and was presented with an artwork, simple spiderweb in the foam, but I know for a fact if you don't have the right density foam, the caramel won't sit on top long enough for the barista to draw the lines for you to admire it.

    Props to my barista!

I absolutely adore the morning team at Starbucks at Hornby and Dunsmuir, but I've given up waiting in that very long line to get my morning americano at Caffee Artigiano on Granville at Dunsmuir.

This is just a step up from my usual morning Starbucks. Wait, a step doesn't do it justice, lets call it 2 steps... ok, 3 steps.

The crema on the americano adds a creamy richness to a zero calorie cup of awesome. It's so delicious it almost feels like a cheat! The espresso itself is not in the least bit bitter and does not leave a burnt aftertaste. It's smooth and almost sweet on its own. I definitely recommend you switch from Starbucks to Artigiano. The extra $.35 is totally worth it and will improve your morning by, well, 3 steps!

(I give 4 stars because I now compare everything to 49th Parallel which is a complete home run. While Artigiano is awesome, it's not quite up to par with 49th. I'm not hating, I promise. This review, after all, is telling you to put some Artigiano in your morning step!)

I want to not like it, I don't want to be a fan... but I find myself inexplicably drawn to Caffe Artigiano during break time like an addict in need of another jolt of psychoactive stimulant.

    Ugh. I'm hooked.

The best location of its own! You can enjoy a nice, rich cup of coffee while indulging a scrumptious cookie at the same time. I usually would prefer to go on a Wednesday or Thursday because that's when I get my drink best - it really depends on the shift-change. :)

Down-side: a bit pricier than your average Starbucks. But like the saying goes, you get more bang for your buck! It shows!

As a university student busting my hump to get my degree, I have been to a lot of coffee shops, but nothing like Caffe Artigianos.

When I do go down to this location, I indulge a little bit. I always get the Cranberry Pumpkin Cookie with my non-fat latte. It is the best. The latte is just out of this world. It's light but it has a deep strong flavour; just how a latte should be (sorry Starbucks and Blenz- you don't even compare). And don't even get me started on the cookie, it has to be one of the best cookies out there. A lot of the time, the baked goods you get at coffee places are hard, dry and you can see the grease coming off on the parchment paper bags. Not this cookie, it's delicate, soft and moist; again, just how a cookie should be!

I've been to several different locations, but the one on Granville is by far the best. My girl- friend and I love this location so much that we don't go anywhere else when we are downtown (for eating that is). We usually sit there for 2-3 hours at a time. It's kind of ridiculous.

But, our regularity to this location has to do with its seating arrangements, atmosphere and of course the staff. The staff are exceptionally nice and always smiling! We even make it a habit to give our dishes back to them so they don't have to fetch it from the tables. You know, pay back for the good coffee, food and service!

There is one barista there that always makes our drinks, but I fail to recall his name! He certainly deserves a shout out though.

Definitely cannot wait to go back again!

    Yummy Yummy in my Cuppy!

I actually don't understand how it's possible for coffee to taste so frothy and delicious. It's so tasty!

The service is also excellent, I get the sense that real people work there... not just robots programmed to recite the same lines over and over.

    Try the latte!

Consistently great coffee and fantastic atmosphere. Such a gem in the heart of the city. Their desserts are not as good as their coffee and coffee is a lot pricier than the other chains like Starbucks but its a nice treat to have good coffee on the weekends. Service is also top notch and almost always, there is a line of people waiting for a decent caffeine hit.

Love their coffee and drinks, but today service was really off. I had ordered a white chocolate mocha freeze and went to sit down to give them a few minutes to make it. After looking back many times to see if my drink was ready, it was not. I went up to the counter where they prepare the drinks and apparently they didn't get my order. Other people who ordered after me got their drinks first, which was irritating and when the barista asked me what I ordered I told him quite clearly a "white chocolate mocha freeze" which is a cold coffee drink (duh! :p). He ends up making me a white chocolate mocha, a warm drink.  By this point I was already annoyed for having to wait so long for my beverage, I just took the warm drink. Although it was very good, the fact that it wasn't what I ordered made the service bad in my most humble opinion. I've been to this location a few times and have never had any issues other than this. So this review is exclusively for this one visit. Perhaps I'll review them again if I go back and service is stellar. Thank goodness for yelp and being able to rant!

Cafe Artigiano is certainly a step up from Starbucks and Blenz and cost about the same. I prefer this place over Starbucks when I'm in downtown. I like the decor and atmosphere of all the locations. This one is perfect to grab a cappuccino or americano before shopping at Holt Renfrew. There are some chairs covered by oversized umbrellas to sit and people watch outside. They are busy but the staff here seems to be quit efficient in getting their orders done promptly.

Agreed with great layout. I've had a few meetings here with my laptop and it's nice to sit on the stools at the window. Venture inside and there is ample seating with good spacing.

    It's a meeting/hangout place for me - cause I don't drink coffee!

We stopped in here early one Sunday morning while vacationing in Vancouver for the bfriend's bday.

The barista was friendly and super nice to us, esp the bfriend cause it was his special day.  (^_^)

Living in Seattle we're pretty serious about our coffee so we were pleasantly surprised by the service and good quality of coffee here.

My vanilla latte was not super sweet (v.good) and had an awesome heart and leaf pattern on top (pretty cool)

The bfriend got a french press set for coffee which he said was mighty delicious, and made him feel quite special (having a tray full of the pot, mug, creamer, etc etc)

Wish we had one in Seattle!!!
Will be back next time we're in town!!

Consistently excellent coffee, and perhaps the most ruthlessly efficient of the Artigianos. This place pounds through its morning lineups better than anywhere else I've seen, which is a big reason I came here when it was on my way to work.

It gets -1 star for its washroom facilities of late: the men's room door has been broken for weeks, and last time I checked it still wasn't resolved. I know these guys are raking it in so please drop a couple hundred bucks on a locksmith already! They also have a tendency to run out of food-related supplies here.

Reasons why I now heart Cafe Artigiano:

    1. The really sweet cashier who informed us we made it just in the nick of time as they were about to close. She was so nice and chatty.
    2. Cashier was still lovely when we came in at closing hemming and hawing over what to have.
    3. Barrita fella made a heart in my mocha.
    4. Barrista fella was effin hilarious!
    5. Spectacular mocha which had just the right amount of mocha to it... not the standard might as well be hot chocolate stuff.
    6. Barrista fella made a tree in my fella's latte.
    7. They did not make fun of me for taking photos.
    8. The perfect resolution to a rainy Saturday night wandering town.

I'm their new fan and this is a non-alcoholic must have for rainy nights to me now.

Oh beautiful espresso machine you look so lovely in this light.... strokes machine lengthwise. I feel your warmth my dear.... (it's frigid out there!)

Great layout, very well organized.... order at front and pay, move toward beautiful machine, chat with skilled baristas, receive high quality beverage of choice, pour in liquid honey or tonnes of sugar.
(This is strong stuff. You need sugar.)

Good shop for hanging out too.

Spanish latte and blueberry scone combo is my new afterschool snack.

It's a starbucks in disguise, for all practical purposes. When the "barista" was ladling out a dollop of foam onto my cuppachino I should have cut-and-run'd. The lemon ricotta muffin... dry and chewy. uncool. Especially given the price, not cheap.

Boo. I thought I had finally found a decent coffee in this city full of blurgghh Blenz and sucky Starbucks. The location around the corner has given me a great coffee but this one was horrible.

To make it worse the girl who made my coffee made a comment about the 'art' she had made in my drink. Rule 1. You have to learn to crawl before you can walk. Heck you have to get out of the womb first. If you can't steam milk you shouldn't be on the barista line, next!!

Maybe Cafe Artigiano is just not my cup of coffee... I've come to realize that their coffee is a little citrussy tasting... making it seems sour... similar to a type of Starbucks bean I really do not enjoy. I mean.. some people may love it.. but not me.

OR.. it could be the location... because I've been here twice and both times, it seemed like the espresso could have seemed burnt.

OR... it could be just hot drinks .. because I tried an iced drink at a different location and it was delicious... I'm so confused but I do not want to give up on it.

I mean, they use the same espresso beans across town right?... the baristas were sooooo nice.. and the one who made my coffee was super cute *blush*... don't tell my bf please.

I came here on a Sunday afternoon and was somewhat confused and disappointed.  They close pretty early.  So after getting my drink and settling down, I then only had 20 minutes to enjoy it.  Not necessarily their fault- but I had brought lots of stuff and was counting on an hour!

This location is smaller than the Hornby location and the patio is not heated.  So overall I'm more frequently disappointed here because I can't find a place to sit.

I had way too high of expectations coming here. Knowing that it was the home of the Canada/World Barista Champion, I thought it would be the best, perfect, godlike shot of espresso.

I only get simple, straight-up espresso to test a new coffee shop, to determine whether or not they're worthy. I usually don't do the lattes and others until my 4th-5th visit. As a coffee-fanatic and barista myself, I know exactly what kind of shot I like and want. And I definitely didn't get the espresso I like.

However, the place was nice: good atmosphere, friendly and nice baristi. I wouldnt mind trying the latte next time.
I still think Seattle has better espresso.

I was really excited to take my boyfriend here after reading great reviews on Yelp. He loves coffee and I was hoping he'd love it.
He got a cafe latte and said it was very good. I looked at their tea menu and was stuck between peppermint and very berry. The peppermint was whole leaf grown in Washington and I am used to the regular old brands they sell at my NY grocery store so I went with peppermint.
The station where you put in your sugar, etc. was really nice. They had simple syrup and a honey sweetener you could add plus tons of other additions, even hot sauce! The service was great, especially lots of laughs from James Taylor. I'm sure we will hit another Caffe Artigiano before we head back east.

While this particular Cafe Artigiano is not as spacious as the one on Hornby Street, the atmosphere is just as enticing, and so is the coffee!

My favourite thing about Cafe Artigiano on Granville Street is the vibe created by the lovely decor inside the restaurant.  The staff is always prompt and friendly and the coffee is always consistent in quality, which is something those other chains can not always boast about!  I ordered a tall drip coffee for just over $2.00 and it was served to me quick, hot and with a smile! What more can you ask for? Oh I suppose you could also ask for tasty sandwiches, pastries and healthy, vegan scones too! Perfecto!

I came for the espresso art, and ordered a mocha, not so typical coffee drink for me, just for that reason. I was so pleased. Coffee at home isn't quite the same, the mochas tend to be more creamy and sweet, I didn't expect the bitterness of coffee. Considering it is just that, you'd expect nothing less...

I love, love, love this place, oh, and the coffee.

Used to be my favourite coffee franchise in Vancouver. Loved their cappuccino. But lately their taste has gone down the drain. Espresso Macchiato didn't have the burned taste that most other places have but was kinda sour, which means under-roasted beans. Really sad to loose another good cafe place.

First time I went to Caffe Artigiano was several years back and I had their blended mocha.  I thought it was just the best thing.  Even better than Starbucks.  The 2nd time was several weeks back and I was super disappointed.  This time around, I had a latte or what seemed to be a latte...Bland and no flavor.  The flavor was all wrong.  What was worse was the guy behind the counter.  He was more blah than blah itself.  He was also very rude, not just to us but to every customer that walked up to the register.  He looked unhappy/mad and was very unprofessional toward patrons of the shop.  I think he has forgotten that patrons pay his paycheck and tip when the service is excellent.  He later proceeded to act all ghetto in front of some girl and was shouting out comments about how he got up on someone's grill or something.  I think seeing that made my latte taste worse.  I'm pretty sure of it.  This would have been a 3 star if it weren't for the rude and unpleasant employee that thinks he's tough and from the ghetto!  Oh, and if my latte actually taste like a real latte.
