Wandering the Distillery uncaffinated I needed a massive dose of coffee. As I am not actually able to inject caffine straight into my system I stopped in at Cafe Uno and ordered up a Nutty Latte and could not resist the temptation of the butter tarts.

The latte was great, but I should have remembered that I don't like hazlenut - not Cafe Uno's fault on that one. The coffee they were brewing smelled amazing. The butter tart was likely the most incredible pastry I have eatten - if I had been depressed and suicidal this tart would have given me reason to live.

Also to be noted is their great tea selection, unfortunately I forgot to stop back in and buy some to bring back to the West Coast.

Had a meeting with some artists at a gallery in the Distillery District, so a couple clients and myself found somewhere in the area to grab a quick lunch. The smell was intoxicating, but that is about where anything good ended. We all set our bags down at a freshly cleaned table then went to the counter to order. I ordered the 6 layer meat lasagna, and my client ordered an omelet and the other a frittata.

The food was brought to the table with mine arriving about 3 minutes before the other two. When theirs finally arrived I took the first bite of what looked pretty good, but it was definitely not. The noodles were undercooked, the sauce a little sour and overpowering, and the meat tasted a little off. The bottom layer of noodle was also semi-burnt so it was not easily sliced into bite size portions with the fork. A few bites in and I couldn't take it anymore and had to just set it aside.

I didn't feel bad doing so in front of my clients as they had similar issues as well. The omelet was really dry and overcooked, and on top of that it just didn't taste good. The frittata was a little overcooked, but the problem was more the ingredients on top that were not fresh; the biggest complaint being about the tomato. Overall all three of us were very unsatisfied with our meals and left more than half of it to be trashed.

At least the Coca-Cola was in glass bottles...

With the Distillery District having a few good coffee places around I expected Uno to be pretty good. I was surprised to see that this place actually looks more like a deli than a cafe with proper lunch foods on offer, but their coffee menu is also pretty extensive.

The reason it gets 2 stars is because it is overpriced for something like a coffee or latte, staff were not that friendly or helpful and seemed to chatter amongst themselves rather than pay attention to me as the customer waiting to order. And when I took a second to hesitate on my order he seemed visibly flustered as if I didn't know my way around a coffee menu.

They have free wifi and a lot of seating on their patio so I can't go all "one star" on them, but even my latte was nothing great.

I admit I did not try their food apart from a biscotti which was OK so I can't comment on most of their food items although it appears they don't seem to do that well on that front as well from other reviews I see here.

I live in the Distillery District so I keep going back, hoping the service will improve, but it never does.  Today it took me ten minutes to order and pay for a take out meal.  When I handed my twenty to the guy at the cash, he started to pull out my change, paused to gossip with his coworker friend, then finished counting it and giving it back to me, all without any kind of interchange with me at all.  The restaurant is always overstaffed but no one seems to be actually working.
Food is ok but is overpriced.  Sadly, since I live here, I'll probably go back from time to time, but it won't be my first choice locally.

The tea was fine, yet overpriced and the banana chocolate chip cake/square was good.  There was  a good selection of different foods/pastries/teas so that was a plus-  otherwise it was just an average place to stop in for a coffee or tea while at the distillery.

Sorry to say that I cannot recommend Cafe Uno. While it is a nice spot in the Distillery District, the food was not very good. I had a "Signature Salad" called "Village Greek Salad". Fresh looking in the display so it caught my attention. For some odd reason though they decided to put romain lettuce underneath it. I did not expect this. It gets worse. The secret Greek salad dressing is straight from a bottle. I saw them pour it. The very unfortunate thing is that no one seems to care about whether they are serving a vinaigrette or vinegar. So, you can imagine what it tasted like.

If you want a loyal customer you have to care and pay more attention to what you are serving. While not outrageous, I certainly regretted paying $33 for two (no wine, just really expensive ice tea) and won't be back again.

There are many other choices in the area. I recommend you go elsewhere.

Nestled in the Distillery District, Cafe Uno has pretty much everything for breakfast and lunch.
I tend to pay the 2 bucks for coffee and skip out on the morning treats. I'm not in the market of paying $7-10 for a morning bagel with eggs. The lunch is the same - $14-$20 for a sandwich and salad. The quality is fresh and tasty, but the prices are a bit over the top.
I'm sticking to the coffee - which is fresh and hot and reasonably priced!

    YUCK!

    Poor choice. My bad.
Went for a coffee and a midday snack.
    Tastless coffee barely warm.
Ugly French Toast made on an egg bread.
Barely dipped in egg, burnt on one side with a little cup of tastless (unidentifable) "maple syrup" . Sat outside in the fenced off pedestrian area, hardly any room to sit that had not already been deficated on by pigeons.

Staff was surly, seemed downtrodden and whipped.

Perhaps all of the above poor service, poor food, poor atmsphere) is the reason that at 1:00 on a fine Saturday afternoon there is no one here.

Should have listened to my instinct.

    YUCK! YUCK! YUCK!

Eek! Methinks not. Not planning on going back...

I only had a couple of beers here while visiting the distillery district so I can't say a whole lot about this place.  The beers were local and good but they were also $7.  Which for a bottle of beer is too much in my opinion.  Cool place, good vibe if you want to grab a bite and use their free wifi.

The food was good, but the service was disorganized--I ordered a frittata and received an omelette instead (with the right filling, at least!), and at one point, the server came around the whole cafe with a bowl of soup trying to find out who had ordered it.  I don't think I'll return; there are better (and cheaper!) places in the Distillery District.

Our lunch was just okay. It took a little too long for them to grill a already pre made panini. They were pretty good. Ambiance was alright. It was a little overpriced, for just a plain sandwich or salad. Overall it was pretty good.

Great place at the Distillery District for a cost-effective lunch. Quaint little place by the restrooms (restrooms were really clean, btw) for a quick lunch. Lunch was a sandwich and coffee for about $7. I didn't try other items, but there were a bunch of cookies and cake on the counter. Mmm...

Overpriced food/drinks, poor floor plan, pretentious patio patrons more interested in being seen then in their own company.
