Just reopened 2/27/12
A cozy and quaint little place hidden under a big red brick building at 500 washington st. It's a small little place. Most of it is the kitchen and theres just enough room to walk in and order your meal. It's definitely got a mom-and-pop feel to the place. Service is always warm and welcome. And not the kind of corporate-enforced friendly that they have at starbucks. If you come a few times they will remember you and their always open to a nice little chat if their not too busy.
The food is REALLY cheap. A freshly made egg mcmuffin and a small coffee all for $4. The food is really good and they will cater to any of your reasonable needs. The house coffee is also really good, which I didn't expect. It's a smooth oak wood roast.
Can't sing this place enough praises. Definitely a spot to come check out in the mornings if you work around here. -

Nice people, quick and friendly service. Bagel with cheese and egg is $2.50 and really hits the spot, plus it's a REAL EGG, not that fake crap from a carton.
I like to patronize small businesses, especially when the folks who run this little joint.are so welcoming.Listed in: Eating in the fidi/north…

Pretty reasonably priced breakfast deals. You can get a breakfast for $4.50 and it'll be better than the greasified stuff you get at McD's. I feel good supporting this tiny business. Mom and Pop (and maybe sister, too?) are friendly and speedy. The only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is because with my most recent breakfast, they put cheese on it even though I specified, "No cheese." Next time I will check my sandwich before I head back to work.

Very friendly and GREAT vaule! I am somewhat conflicted that I found this place right across the street as I think I may be there everyday!

This place is awesome! It's a family owned and family run business located just outside of the Financial district. Service is always cheery and bubbly every morning... but there's usually a line of folks- no more than a 5min wait if the place is packed.
BUT don't let that deter you- their morning sandwiches are so good. Sausage muffin with egg and cheese for $3 bucks?! And I'm not talking about some McD's tiny sized serving. I'm talking about the Thomas English muffin size with a sausage patty and egg equal in width. :) Yum!! Check out their array of sandwiches-- You'll fall in love with Cafe Me. I know I have.. that place is my morning routine before heading into the office.

Nice little hidden gem. Service was fast and friendly, and the quick carry away breakfast sandwich was perfect for eating on the walk to work. Tasty and cheap baby!

WTF? How does a remodel of an area the size of a typical suburban closet take three months? I am starting to forget how much I enjoy their egg sandwiches....

This isn't a cafe. There is room to stand inside the door, place an order, buy a soda and walk away. Clearly the reviews have been salted by friends and family.

Since Cafe Amici closed, I've been remiss to find another super latte place.....until Cafe Me
Latte - hot & milky & smooth. They state on the coffee board 2-shots are used in their drinkys & I like 3 so I ordered my latte w/ another shot & it was perfect
Medium - 16oz - $3 (before extra shot $)
Also gave their egg & cheese bagel a go & it was fab-delish! Bagel was chewy like all good bagels should be & I especially appreciated them asking me if I wanted a bit of butter on my sandwich before putting it on.... b/c I didn't want it. Thanks for not assuming!!
Would also like to point out they used *fresh* eggs - cracked them right as I ordered.....this wasn't some eggy mix that was sitting out for forever! Makes all the difference, I tell ya!
Super friendly people - greeting customers by name - and NOT by their order - provided that extra special personal touch!
Huge fan over here!Listed in: I'm a Coffee Girl, In A Coffee…

My go-to bagel sandwich place on my way to work. Family-owned and operated, they are always super friendly and seem thrilled every time you walk through their doors! It's so cheap, and they are quick. I just wish they had veggie cream cheese. Regardless, I love them and their jalapeño bagels! I can't wait until they re-open in late February 2012. I just hope their remodel doesn't include remodeling their prices... they fit right within my budget!

I try not to give 5-stars as much as before unless i really like the place, but the people here were so nice and welcoming that a 5-star rating was just a must. Me being the groggy asian chick on work mornings, the people who worked here really brightened up my day.
Cafe Me is probably a bit of a stroll for most people who work in the heart of FIDI, but if you can spare the extra 15 minutes I think it's worth it. All of their breakfast sandwiches are around 3 dollars and pastries go for 2. My friend and I got the canadian bacon sandwich, a scone, and a coffee, and our total came out to $6. What a deal! -

Only a block from my office for great food? Awesome.
Went here this morning for a breakfast sandwich, got the sausage, cheese, and egg on an English muffin, which was delicious and only $3! I ate it fast it was so tasty.
The people who run the place are super nice.
As I waited for my order, I was eyeing their lunch sandwiches that looked tasty. They have a great selection of items and a delicious looking menu. Plus all the people outside waiting for their orders is a very good sign.
I will definitely go back, especially because I want to try their coffee. -

The owners and people that work in this tiny li'l gem of a spot could just be the nicest people in Fidi to start your morning off right. Every time I have happened to go in for this-n-that, they are just so ridiculously kind and friendly. It makes up for the tiny space that can seem like playing human Tetris while making your way to the register and decorating your coffee in the corner.
They have great coffee to boot; and who doesn't love supporting the li'l guys when there's a Starbucks within a block of every direction from them?
Support Cafe Me, for shizzle. -

Cafe Me is a great, independently-owned breakfast and lunch place. It's a small and you could miss it if you aren't looking for it. Once you find this sweet spot, though, you'll find it hard to stay away.
The owners are really friendly and always have a smile. They treat you like you've been their customer for years, even if it's only your first time visiting.
This is my go-to place when I'm hungry in the morning and didn't have time to make breakfast. They have all kinds of bagels and toppings that'll satisfy your daily bagel cravings and they make hot and savory breakfast sandwiches. -

Fast, cheap, and the HAPPIEST services you'll get.
Bagel with lox is actual slices of lox salmon, not some lox spread/smear for only $5. -
Review from Michael H.

Basically the same quality that you can make at home. Cafe Me gains huge points for convenient location, reasonable prices, and big smiles on the workers. I had a lox bagel sandwich with capers and cream cheese. I was very pleased they cracked fresh pepper on my bagel. They put the bagel in a toaster oven so it's nice and hot. It's exactly what I wanted, cheap hot fast food for a hurried schedule. I'd come back here if I forgot to catch breakfast especially since Specialty's is always packed.

The nicest owners and the best value in town! I love to start the day off with one of their lattes and a canadian bacon breakfast sandwich. The price is right and everything is fresh to order.
I can't really ask for much more at 6am! So glad they open early! -
Review from Gail N.
"$3.50 for a breakfast bagel sandwich + a cup of coffee", advertises the little modest sign in front of the store. The sign is quite humbling because what it should really say is:
"Flippin huge, AMAZING, fresh piping hot bagel sandwich of delicious yuminess + your ticket to caffeine fix for ONLY $3.50!"
Made-to-order scrambled egg, topped with melted American cheese on the Everything bagel with a touch of butter = *nom nom nom*.
Hole-in-the-wall place with only 3 staff people squeezed behind the counter and even with a mildly long line out the door...you get your sandwich + coffee in just about 5 minutes.
This place has got it DOWN and got me singing Cafe Do, Re, Me Me Me Meeeeeeeee all morning long! -

When I was moving to the Bay Area from Brooklyn, I was scared I wouldn't be able to find a morning bagel. Luckily, these guys carry House of Bagels bagels (which are the best I've found in the Bay).
The service is extremely friendly and they learn your usual quickly (just like my old neighborhood).
They have good coffee and will do eggs and bacon on your bagels, as well.
This place made my landing in SF lots and lots better. -

I love the couple that owns this place. They are so damn cute. And really, how can you beat spending $3.50 for a breakfast sandwich and a coffee? (And it's good!!!!) Thankful that there is still such a killer deal in this crazy expensive city.
Hint: Sriracha on the bagel egg and cheese-- YUM. -

A couple of weeks ago I was walking from work to BART with some colleagues and we all wondered aloud if the breakfast special at this place was any good. Of course that got it in my mind to try it on my way into work the very next day.
Let me just say----Cafe Me anytime! For only $3.50 you can get a scrum-diddly-upmtious bagel-egg-cheese sandwich and cup of delicious organic coffee. (I added bacon for $0.50--to the sando, not the coffee ;)
Also, the vibe in that little place was really good, the owners were friendly, as well as the regulars in line behind me.
No more Noah's for this gal! In fact, this review has already worked its magic on one person---me! I'm headed back on Monday :) -

I been going to this place since it opened and barely writing a review..This place makes a great white mocha with a fresh made whip cream topping and half the price of any other place around..I seem to get the basic from them a wheat toast with PBJ. I have had some sandwiches for breakfast and lunch a few times and great tasting..

Adding another star for use of the term "breakfast package".
Well, I meant that as an update, but apparently I am no good at Yelp. Cafe Me is a notch above most of the other nearby coffee shops. They'll make a good, quick breakfast for you and set you up with a cup of coffee for around $3.50. That's a GOOD cup of coffee, and local/organic/wish-granting food. With excellent, excellent service. The owner(s) also seem to be the principle employees and goodness radiates palpably from them. -

One delicious soft, toasty jalapeno bagel with melty cheese, fresh fluffy egg (cracked right there and fried up!) and REAL THICK BACON! not that old weird subway bacon crap that somes cafes pawn off on you...All for the more than fair price of $3 with tax (no change in your pocket! even numbers yeeah!)
Love this place, I'll be back soon! -

I ate here this morning. I work nearby and I have been noticing the lack of a good ol' American breakfast place. I tried this cafe because the sign outside promised affordable prices!
The couple inside (owners?) great you with very enthusiastic "Hello's" and seemingly cannot wait to get your order ready for you!
I had a croissant with egg and cheese. It was satisfactory. Mushy, and a most-needed greasy concoction with just enough cheese.
Still looking for some great American breakfast choices. I find it hard to believe no one around here knows their way around an omelet and hash browns. -
Review from Tam T.
I work in the same building, and since they became in business I've always been a fan. The owners are sooooo adorable and sweet people.
I always get onion bagel with cream cheese and tomatoe, for only $2!!!
They also serve sandwiches too, i've tried all of them and the Tuna one is the best. They run out quick so beat the rush because Cafe Me has a lot of friends.
I even remember the time, i didn't have enough money....so sad..but they let me do an I.O.U.
only downfall is they dont accept Credit Card. -

I recently had the opportunity to go to Cafe Me, after a considerable absence, and they are still great.
Consistently good, thoughtfully prepared, delicious food and kind people. It was a pleasure to see them all again and having the breakfast sandwich with their wonderful coffee reminded me of what I was missing in the morning.1 Previous Review: Show all »

5 stars is way over-rated for this place. It's a good DEAL. Not great food. The food is *ok*, maybe *good* but., great for the price.
I got duped into going here, I yelped "coffee" and up came results like Philz, and CafeMe. The 2 are not comparable... Philz is amazing, maybe the best coffee ever. CafeMe is a good value, and decent quality. I would have gave it 3 stars, except that I wanted to bring the rating down a little bit and save other people like me looking for amazing coffee into being mislead. -
Review from L. W. M.
San Francisco, CA
Cafe Me is downstairs from my office and I am a frequent customer not only because of the convenience, but the prices and service. Chris, the guy who runs it, is great and he sells an egg (real egg!) and cheese breakfast bagel for just $2.50...not bad in my book. Service is usually pretty quick and the quality is high, especially for a little downtown cafe. I've also noticed that Cafe Me can hold on to your camera cell phone if you need to go into the Immigration building across the street as they don't allow any type of camera in the building. (I think it costs a buck or two...better than hiding it in the bushes.)
I'm a fan of the Firehouse Cafe's oatmeal, but for all other breakfast and snack needs, I'm at Cafe Me. -

This is a little hole in the wall nearby the financial district. I stop by weekly for a muffin with egg and canadian bacon - yummy. It's fresh made to order in just a couple minutes and only $3 with a coffee. The staff is friendly and attentive. They also sell sandwiches and sundries.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so this is the place to go! It makes my mouth water just thinking about it....MmmMmMM...
I usually order the breakfast bagel (toasted bagel, egg, and cheese) and a coffee or tea for just $3.50. Now that is a deal for San Francisco! The bagel is crunchy on the outside, chewy on the inside, and very fresh. They have all kinds of bagels but I usually get wheat or everything. You can also add bacon and other meats if you want for an extra 50 cents. The eggs are organic and the coffee is fair trade.
They also have other mouth watering treats like muffins, pastries, croissants, and juices, sodas, and other bevs. But if I find something I love (like the breakfast bagel deal), I'm sticking to it for life.
And of course, Chris (the owner), is the nicest and friendliest guy! You both can talk it up and he can still whip up your breakfast in just minutes.
I love going here in the mornings before work and to get my afternoon caffeine boost. I highly recommend everyone stop by here for breakfast or just for a snack! :) -

Rarely do you come across people so nice on first meeting that you just want them to be successful.
I stumbled across this place whilst on vacation in San Francisco. My wife and I were walking around the neighborhood last week. Its tucked away and had it not been for the sign on the street I would not have known it was there.
We had been walking round Chinatown, North Beach and then the Financial District and had got to that point in the day where we needed a drink and a few moments rest. Cafe Me provided that but with such a friendly welcome that a few days later we walked from Union Square to breakfast on a muffin with eggs and bacon (my wife) and a bagel with cream cheese and smoked salmon and capers (me). Very tasty and exceptionally good value but the friendly welcome is what I will remember and what will bring me back when I am next in San Francisco.
If you are in the area please try this place out - I need it to be still there when I get back! -
Review from Grant D.

This is a great tiny coffee shop. They are really nice folks, serve excellent organic fair trade coffee and have tasty bagel sandwiches and breakfast specials. An example of their great prices is $3 for a medium soy latte that would cost $3.85 at Starbucks (Cafe Me doesn't charge extra for soy milk). Over the course of a year that could be a couple hundred dollars in savings! Their bagel breakfast sandwiches are tasty, too, and made to order.I haven't been there for lunch but their sandwiches look good, too.
Support your local small business, especially friendly ones with great food! I work many blocks away but don't mind carrying the coffee! -

Just had their version of the Mcdonald's Egg McMuffin, and it was delicious. Tasted the same, if not better. And I feel healthier eating it as it's not processed like McDonald's is. And for $3 even, you can't beat that. Service is quick and friendly. If you need good quick food in this area, it's the place to go!
