We wandered in after the place we spotted indicated on the door that it was FOR LEASE.  Should have consulted the Yelp app, however, the hunger was on and I couldn't deal so I pointed to the place next door.

I was tired and I sat down and said to the guy.  Could you order me a turkey sandwich.  I didn't consult the menu at all.

I must say they make an impressive turkey sandwich.  The guy had some Vietnamese soup, not Pho but something near it.  He raved about it.

I knew this was probably a good local place as there was a group of construction workers in there and it looked like it might be their local hang out.

It was a cute place with a few tables and chairs and some nice comfy leather chairs as well.

In the corner they had a computer, fax and copier for use, for a price I'm sure.

The restroom is in the back of the kitchen so you actually have to walk through the kitchen to get to it.  A little weird but hey they at least let you use it if you are a customer.

A cute place.  Check it out.

The only reason I went to Cafe Des Arts is due to proximity, I probably won't be going back.

I ordered pho and two spring rolls to go, the portion is pretty small and left me hungry still. At 10.50 I believe you should be full, keep in mind this is not an upscale establishment or anything.

There was no lime, sprouts, or mints. I had to request hoi san and sirachai sauce on the side.

Overall, for Vietnamese cuisine, I've had better. I'd recommend Ha Long Bay or One Saigon if you're specifically craving pho. I can't comment on the other items on the menu as I never had them though.

I had a male server in his 40, he seemed pretty annoyed\pissed off it was quite unpleasant to talk with him.

    What the hell!?!?

What if I told you there's good pho in downtown Vancouver.  Liar you say!  Well you're right, I am lying... Actually some of the best Pho in all of Vancouver is downtown!  That's right!  And it's in the most unlikeliest of places.

I was heading over to friends office on Beatty.  And I begin smelling this delicious aroma, and all I can think of is "is that pho?".  I walk by this cafe, which actually advertises more Canadiana fare, so I'm like... "it couldn't be".

However, after leaving my friend's office, I walk by again, this time hungry, and I swear that it must be pho.  So I go into this cozy little cafe space and see hidden on the wall that indeed they serve pho.  So I order it... I've got a good feeling.  It arrives, I taste it - Outstanding!!!  I couldn't believe it.  For years, my search for great pho around downtown Vancouver is over!

The broth was dense, beautiful, perfectly balanced.  The meat was yummy.  Honestly, it was perfect pho.  And this is coming from a guailo who has a favourite pho restaurant in every city, I can't go without it, and I do my homework... even my girlfriend is part vietnamese.  Go figure.

I spoke to the owner and she was said they make it homemade style.  Well it shows, and it's incredible.

Pho lovers of Vancouver, your search for incredible pho stops here.  Its downtown, and its delicious.  You can all thank me for racing to my computer to Yelp about it.

This is a cute little place, that I bet most people don't know about.  It's on Beatty, right across from a Starbucks.  I first went in to get an iced Vietnamese coffee.  Have you had one before?  It's made with hot coffee, condensed milk, and then put over ice.  It's sweet, and I love it!
It's also served in a really large glass.  The hot chais are also great
and have a wonderful aroma.  While there enjoying beverages, I began to take more interest in their  food.  They have a great selection of soups and pho.  My husband is a big fan of authentic pho, so I brought him here for lunch.  He had the pho, of which I snagged a few tastes and it was very flavorful and well seasoned.  I had the grilled cheese- not exceptional, and maybe a little overpriced.

I like the atmosphere here.  The seating is spread out, and offers different areas.  I like to sit near the door and windows to have a view
of the street.  There's also a tv here and free wireless internet access.

I think there's only one kind of banh mi (Vietnamese sub) here, and it's not made to order, and it's $5, which is a little high for banh mi.  On the other hand, the fillings are delicious and the bread is wonderful.  So overall, it's pretty good.
