Review from Yvonne C.
The only thing that is worth getting here is the Hainanese Chicken on rice or noodle soup. I usually order the Hainanese Chicken Laksa that cost $7.50 and it doesn't come with a drink.
Their Laksa soup base is flavourful and the chicken is super tender and juicy. This laksa also contains tofu puff, bean sprouts, parsley, and 2 different types of noodles. I really like how the tofu puff adsorbs the yummy soup and how the noodles contrast each other too. A link to show the different noodles used in the laksa: http://www.yelp.ca/biz...Listed in: Budget Meal for under $10

The original restuarant Cafe D'Lite is located on West Boardway near UBC. It has been awhile and I almost forgot about this place since my university days are over (and even before, I only knew how to get there and not by the name itself).
Cafe D'Lite Express is a sister "restaurant" located inside Aberdeen Centre Food Court - although the original shop still surpasses; this express isn't too shabby!
Famous for their boneless Hananiese chicken and rice; they are juicy, tender, and well seasoned. This place does live up to the hype unlike Jehtro's (click)
Hananiese Chicken Rice
As mentioned before the Hananiese chicken is juicy and delicious especially when you don't have to gnaw at the bones. The rice is pretty well seasoned too and isnt too oily. Overall a solid dish. Only time missing is some minced ginger and green onion sauce! It is so delicious to mix into your rice
Laska noodles with Hananiese Chicken
The broth is very flavorful. It is a strong coconut based curry soup with sambal chili paste and also includes bean curd puffs and bean sprout garnishes. However, it would've been nice if it was slightly more spicy. But I understand not everyone can handle that. The noodles itself has a twist of added texture - both vermicelli and regular egg noodles.
Would I return? For sure! Ten bucks gets me a meal plus a ice lemon tea; sounds pretty good. Besides, it seems like a better alternative from oily food court grub... -

If your looking for a quick chicken rice fix then this place is definitely the best place in town. The chicken is very juice, tender and above all boneless! Its cheap and quick. The only downside is that the rice is not more flavourful.

Uh, this is some pretty bomb hainanese chicken rice, people. Succulent, moist, tender, with delicious sauces and some crisp cucumber underneath. YUM. Just as good as Savoy, in Alhambra, and ten times faster service. Seriously, I only waited like 30 seconds for my order.
Docked a star off for their rice though, which was kind of bland and dry. -

Within Aberdeen Centre, Cafe D'Lite Express is the Singaporean cuisine representative of the food court, which is one of my favorite places to go when in Richmond due to the variety. As the express moniker indicates, the menu is fairly limited. Rice and noodle dishes rule.
The star of the menu is the Hainan chicken which is served in numerous dishes. The other focus seems to be the other recognizable dish of Singapore which is laksa, a spicy noodle soup. Thus, the logical item for me to order was the Hainan chicken laksa ($6.75).
The wait was on the long side. Despite this being a food court, do not expect your order to come out with fast food quickness. These dishes are a bit more complicated, so be a bit patient about this.
The laksa is served in a disposable bowl which is okay, though I thought they were a little skimpy on utensils and napkins. The dish itself was okay. It did not really blow me away with the taste. The noodles which were there were two types were average. I did like the spicy flavor of the soup base and the chicken was pretty good. I do not usually like this preparation of chicken, but it fit in well in this dish. Though I thought the bean sprouts did not. The problem with them is they are one of those ingredients that seems to take away rather than add flavor.
Value wise, you do get a filling meal at a good price here. Cafe D'Lite is worth a try if you are looking for some decent Singaporean food at Aberdeen.Listed in: Nom Nom Nom-ing in BC

I've been wanting to try the hainanese chicken rice for a long time, but instead saw the Laksa on the menu and decided to have that. It was really good. I used to make my own Laksa and have never actually had it out before and it was comparable to what I make at home!
The lady running this place is so cute, barely speaks any english, but she squeaked everything out so I could understand! Next time I'm going to try the chicken rice! -

This is a hidden gem amongst the rest of the treasures abounding in the Aberdeen Food Court. I say hidden, as greasy wings from Wo Fung, and cream puffs at Beard Papa are the star of the shows here. I had clear intentions to have Hainan Chicken and thought this offshoot of Cafe D'Lite in Kits would be perfect. This fast food version similarly offers Singapore and Malaysian staples, prices ranging from $6-$9. Despite that, I experienced first class service here. First class service at a food court, mind you!
As opposed to the other busier stalls with chaotic line ups and rigid-bordering on catatonic service, the lady at the Cafe D' Lite was well, a delight! She was smiling from afar, very welcoming and never pushy. She was patient as I took my time staring at the menu photo board. Aah, the photo of the seafood laksa was calling me, but I wanted the Hainan Chicken too! As if reading my mind, she mentions they have a chicken laksa offering not on the menu. Wut?! Jackpot! She smiled and she most likely saw how my face turned as if, yes, I won the jackpot.
Hmm. Order took awhile being I was the only one in line. She mentioned they make everything on the spot, thus the wait. So I sipped my HK milk tea that she handed, inadvertently reacting that it was too sweet. She quickly mentioned she'll replace it which I nicely turned down and asked for some ice instead. She gave me a cup full of ice and apologized unnecessarily. Wow, how could someone be this nice at the food court?
As for the laksa, it was all that I expected. The chicken was sooo tender, moist, and plentiful. Regretfully realized I forgot to take a photo after scarfing down the bowl, oops. I must say it looked lovely. Now I'm no expert on judging the laksa soup, but this sure hit the spot for me, I wouldn't change it any other way. First rate service - fast food style, consider me a fan.Listed in: C.O.V. (Cash Only Vancouver), When in Richmond

One of the best Hainam Chicken dishes in town. Deboned chicken that melts in your mouth....(salivate..) Included is their soup, and the accompanying hainan rice is flavorful - just wish they could make a nice brown rice (more healthier) with it. :)
Prices are reasonable for what you get.
Located at top floor in the food fair at the Aberdeen Centre Mall, there's plenty of space (wide open...) for seating and also for those who want some quiet space while chowing down a good meal.
ps. They also dish up a mean yellow curry chicken dish with white rice.
Just wish some of these huts served brown rice.... :( -

Perhaps my expectations were too high, finding Singaporean food in a Canadian food court and laksa, one of my favorite dishes. First off the laksa met the smell criteria but failed on the taste, it was seriously missing sambal and laksa leaves, the soup tasted bland :(. I also wanted curry chicken, but apparently ordered chicken rice instead. The chicken rice was actually decent. The bobo cha cha disappointed a little as it was way too sweet, kids slurped it down far too quickly :) overall passable, but laksa was a fail.
