If there were one restaurant that I could just go to every day for dinner (or even lunch for what matters) it is this one. It is actually already my go-to place for a tasty and affordable meal in North-Vancouver. I used to love their indo-caribbean (a mix of caribbean and Indian cuisine) wraps and soups and now also love their new Mexican menu. I actually find it is one of the most authentic Mexican food I have had since my Mexican roomie returned home. The staff is very friendly and make you feel like you are coming to a friend's place for dinner. Perfect if you are planning to eat on your own and still a good thing if you are bringing over your own friends. Anyway, I believe this restaurant should be much more busy than it currently is.

Cafe Caribana is long closed and it's location is currently sitting empty :( Too bad because thy had some good food.

We found this place after we found the German restaurant we were looking for was closed. We were HUNGRY, there was no Yelp review, and we decided to be daring.
I ordered the jerk chicken, my wife ordered the butter chicken. We both liked our lunch. Neither one of us have much experience with Caribbean food, so we did not know what to expect. The style reminded us a bit of Indian food. For dessert, we were each given a complimentary small flan(?) tart.
This is a little family owned business run by a husband and wife from Mexico. They told us they recently purchased the restaurant. They were a cute couple and we hope them much success. We think they will do well. -

Cafe Caribana is sweet, family-owned and as good as it gets. I've looked around the mainland for a long time - looking for West Indian food that has not been to Canadianized - and Cafe Caribana is the first that presents the whole package: delicious curry, well done roti, and friendly Guyanese service.

Love this little place. It's under new management but kept the Caribbean menu and added tacos! Always delicious and affordable with friendly service.
