Review from Bob J.
Vancouver, BC
This restaurant is tucked away in a little complex just off Willingdon and we never really knew it was there until we were looking for an Italian place for dinner and came upon this spot. We were there on a Saturday evening for an early dinner and the place was pretty empty so we were seated by the windows, overlooking some trees (and trash bins, but that's not their fault).
The hostess was very friendly, polite and professional. Another fellow who I'm guessing was the owner(?) was also about talking with the other patrons and I found that he was able to find a good balance between being friendly while avoiding being overly intrusive which can happen when they sometimes try too hard. We didn't specifically ask for garlic bread as another review had mentioned, but we did get bread with our meal.
Our meals arrived pretty quickly and the portion sizes were decent as was the pricing. Our meals would have been perfect had it not been for the fact they were all sooooo oily. The staff were very friendly and really pleasant to deal with, parking was a breeze, everything was done smoothly and efficiently, but at the end of the day, the actual meal itself is one of the most important parts of visiting a restaurant and I would have loved to have given this place 5 stars but the fact that all our entrees were just swimming in oil really took away from this otherwise positive experience. Oh, Cafe Amore, so close ... -
Review from Barry M.
This is located just off Dawson and Willingdon.
They had a number of paninis available, soups, and pasta specials.
I asked them if the pasta special for $9.50 came with a salad or anything.. nope just salad... asked if it came with garlic bread (because how can any pasta NOT come with garlic bread...) they said it didn't. "Do you even have garlic bread?" "No, sorry..."
wtf... how can a pasta bar NOT HAVE GARLIC BREAD??
Anyway, I did get the creamy tomato ravioli, it was good and filling, but for $9.50 I would have hoped for a little more. Also their special board had soup for $3.99 a bowl. Seriously? I think Earl's even charges you less... (and I bet they have garlic bread too)
Looked like they did a lot of takeout here, and also had a bunch of bar-style grill things like burgers, etc. There isn't much competition in the area though for restaurants, so they might be able to gouge people a bit.
