I'm staying here for the first time. Very nice and clean room!  The bathroom is giant with a separate shower and bath.  Refrigerator, coffee pot, flat panel TV also in room.   Valet parking is free if staying here.  Room prices were very reasonable during the week (a lot cheaper than the rundown Hilton Windsor).

Restaurants could be better:  Mediocre sports bar, grand buffet closes at 8PM, Nero steak house not open on Monday and Tuesday.  They also have a Mediterranean
    place.

Nice workout room with tv's on all equipment.  Nice pool and whirlpool.  Friendly staff but the concierge tries to steer people to restaurants that he gets commission from. You will get lots of exercise from walking around.

Casino of course.   Most card minimum stakes are $10 and $15 for blackjack during the week.

Grand Buffet - lots of foods but low on quality.  Shrimp were very small.  Good variety to choose from and a ton of desserts.

This is a review of the hotel only.

I've stayed here the last three times I've travelled to Windsor.   I really love this hotel, the staff are friendly, the rooms are big and really nice and the midweek price is always reasonable.  Free parking (and it's ample to say the least) and free internet (wired & wifi in the Augustus tower).

Other people have mentioned this, but it's important.  If you have a lot of stuff, don't lug it all with you until you know what tower you're in.  I've normally been able to switch to the Augustus tower, but it is quite a long walk from the self park area to the check in and then a pretty descent walk back to the Forum tower (if you have a lot of luggage)

A tip I've discovered is if you're booking try expedia and then compare it to what you can book through the Caesar's website.  The last time I booked I got a cheaper rate through Caesars, since they had a 15% off promo code (I had to look for it though!)

I'm often travelling alone (I travel for work fairly often) and I always feel very safe here (that's a huge thing for me when I travel).  There's lots of security and if you can't sleep at night you can gamble in your p.j's. (and you may not be the only one)

I recently stayed at Caesars Windsor while working in Detroit for a week. Sounds crazy but it's an option available if you don't want to stay in Detroit. Crossing the border between US and Canada was really simple. We used the tunnel option which is very close to Caesars Windsor. Valet parking at Caesars Windsor is free to all guests staying in the hotel. There is a large self-parking garage located next to the hotel but since valet parking is free I would highly recommend using valet. It seemed like there was an army of Valet staff available to assist. Car was returned within 5 minutes. Then again the hotel didn't seem to be very busy. I was really surprised at the quality of the hotel rooms. Everything from the decor to the beds seems to be new and in good condition. The hotel rooms where very quiet. I had a great night sleep. I would definitely stay here again. Hotel lobby, check-in staff, rooms are excellent. Caesars Windsor offers great views of the surounding area. I would also recommend paying the extra $10 or $20 for a upgraded room. Dont go for the basic room unless you plan to just gamble during your stay. I never gambled during my stay at Caesars Windsor.

Caesars Windsor is not your Las Vegas hotel of Canada. In my opinion the hotel lacks eating and good restaurant options. Neros Steakhouse which only seemed to be opened from Thursday through the weekend. Legends Sports Bar is your traditional bar food. We ate here one night but the food wasn't anything great. There is a small Starbucks which closes really early and has no available seating. Highly recommend trying Smoke & Spice Southern Barbeque located a few miles from the hotel. BBQ is excellent!! Caesars Windsor has no mini store selling drinks, water and snacks. Caesars Windsor didnt seem to be very busy. Most likely the hotel and casino comes alive over the weekend or when there is a show or event hosted but the hotel. Their is no comparison between Caesars Windsor and Caasars Palace in Las Vegas. If you are bored checkout Leopard's Lounge & Broil Strip Club.

The casino has less 'life' in it than MGM Grand or Greektown in Detroit.  Not as exciting, seems to be an older crowd. Really didnt get crowded until midnight and even then the atmosphere seemed more subdued.  The hotel room was clean and pleasant - no complaints there.

    Things I like about Caesars:

    - One of the few signs of civilization in Windsor on Christmas day.

    - Great for people watching. Caesars regularly seems to bus in conventions or maybe political movements of people with their own portable oxygen supplies.

    - Love you, Goldfish slots! Oh that fish bonus!

    - I love that Caesars confirms for me I don't have an addictive personality.  I plunk $20 in a slot machine. Run it up to $30. Cash out. Leave. Or I run it down to zero and leave.

    - One of the more unusual places in Ontario to get a Starbucks coffee.

I would say that if you have ever been to the Caesar's in Las Vegas, you will be seeing double here but on a smaller scale.

The Las Vegas one is definitely better and bigger with all its games and shopping, but this one is okay. It's geared more towards the gambler than the shopper so don't expect to have fun if you don't gamble. You probably wouldn't even be there if you weren't a gambler anyways.

I liked that it still felt pretty upscale and was clean and pretty big. There are places around for you to eat, drink, and relax. Some of the bars have a great view of the Detroit skyline against the water. Very pretty.

This is only for coliseum area for the Moody Blues concert.

Wow I've never been treated as a adult at a concert until coming here. The ushers escort you to your seats weather you like it or not and during the show if you get up they come down the aisle and to light your way so you don't trip or fall.

The only complaint is after the show they herd you up the elevators weather you have valet or not. If you have valet you have to go up the elevator  walk across a lobby then back down the elevator on the other side of the street from the valet go back outside crossing 6 lanes of valet traffic to cross the street and back in 20 feet from where they sent you up the elevator in the first place

Nice rooms and great service. Terrific friendly valets and room attendants, nice staff on the casino floor too.

I was pleased with our room here. Comfy king bed, nice marble bathroom with a stand up shower and over-sized tub, all the amenities you could want. You have plenty of room here and a great view of the river, the bridge, Joe Louis Arena, even Belle Isle on the end rooms.

Casino is nice, typical payouts on slots but a very nice setup. You feel less claustrophobic here than at other places. Safe to gamble by yourself in the wee hours to boot. The table games are a bit high limit wise. I usually play blackjack for a little cheaper.

Food here is just OK. Go visit some of the great offerings around town instead unless you are comped or something. Our comped buffet was fine but nothing that made me jump up and down. The other restaurants sound fine but again, nothing I was dying to try.

When you expect Ontario and not Nevada, you won't enjoy yourself.  But it is a fun place.

First plus is the entire casino is No Smoking.  There are a couple of small outdoor smoker's patio.

The casino is laid out poorly.  Don't bring in your luggage from the Self Park garage until after you check-in and know in which tower you'll be staying.  We lugged our luggage in from the garage, down an elevator to the main level and then up an escalator up to the second level, through the casino to the front desk (you'd think the front desk would be up front).  We checked in to only find out that are tower was back where we came in from the garage, so back through the casino with the luggage.

Also because this is Ontario and not Nevada, you will pay for alcoholic beverages while gambling.  Paid $6.75 for a Molson.

The gambling was okay and there was ups and downs.  The video poker didn't have very good payouts.  Jacks or Better was only paying 7/5 instead of the full-pay of 9/6.  There were a couple of $10 blackjack tables, but most were $15 and $25.  And the craps table was pretty bizarre.

The buffet was pretty crummy (most of Caesar Entertainment's buffets outside of Vegas or Atlantic City are horrible).

The hotel room was nice.  The bathroom has separate shower and bath tub.  The desk was large, although they do charge for internet (which was only wired on our floor).  The hotel did have nice views across the river of Detroit, however our room had a view of some battered homes (one of which we watched being torn down).

Nice casino and hotel, but wouldn't make a special trip from the East Coast when Atlantic City is only 3 hours from me and this was over 8 hours.

Really nice rooms, view of the river is excellent. casino is fun'ish, but a little dead.

The rooms are spacious enough, clean, stylish. I quite liked it. The washroom is super, with a great shower and separate tub. Simple but open and stylish. Comfy beds. No complaints at all. Best to ask for a view of the river though, which was pretty stellar.

Casino was fun (cuz I was winning! First time playing roulette and got my number on the first try! what a handsome payout that was :D ). But the crowd is really subdued. Bad smooth jazz band playing above the bar to a few dozen seniors kind of just staring at the act. The bartenders were pretty friendly and cool, though they don't free pour. Didn't spend as much time in the casino as I thought I would, just cuz it wasn't a great vibe. Exploring downtown Windsor turned out to be much more interesting...

Used to be a LOT better under old management.

No FREE drinks, they are not as likely to give free meals as they used to.

With the exchange rate, it's better to just go to Detroit.

    This isnt your Vegas Caesars....

They wont let you drink just anywhere on site... hell, you cant drink on the streets much less smoke Cuban cigars anywhere. They card people before entering the gambling area.  WTF!

Though all in all, they didnt kick us out for the excessive noise, slamming of the doors, for being the source of the emanating smell of alcohol and pizza and donuts.... so in that regard they scored high.

Of course, the sign be damned, I'll drink where ever I want and leave the glass where I want... right outside the elevator! BooYahh!

I love gambling.  Yep, that's it: I love it.  Honestly, who doesn't?  It's fun and if you don't get into a lot of trouble, you'll have a good time even if you lose.

So, because I enjoy gambling, we decided to take a trip abroad to the great city of Windsor, ON to go to the new Caesars casino (formerly Casino Windsor).  There's no good casinos in Illinois - the boats are lame and Joliet sucks.  So this was a great time to go somewhere fun.

Apparently the casino has been heavily remodeled since its Casino Windsor days and all of the improvements have been phenomenal (I myself never actually went to Casino Windsor but I was with a group of people who used to frequent it).  It looks a lot like Caesars Palace in Las Vegas (I mean, why wouldn't it - it's the same casino).  There's tons and tons and tons of slots, a bunch of table games and everything else that a casino has to offer.  There's some pretty big shows lined up (including a performance by Celine Dion in February - très bien!) and I'm sure there's a bunch of decent performances happening regularly.

We ate dinner at the buffet below the casino and it was most excellent.  There was excellent, fresh sushi, pan-Asian, comfort food, southern, Mexican and amazing desserts.  The price was right (about $30/person on the weekends) and the food was really, really, really good.  The service was friendly and OK - I can't really say much about it, though, because the server isn't really involved in the buffet food process.

I highly recommend becoming a member of the Caesars Gold Club because it's free.  You get a little card that you plug into the slots when you play or hand to the dealer when you play a table and you receive points for all of your casino play.  These points turn into cash that you can redeem from a cashier's station.  They also include points toward the buffet dinner so we actually ate for free - kick ass!  The card can be used at any of the other casinos in the Caesars network (Paris Hotel, Caesars Palace, etc. in Las Vegas) so you can just keep accumulating points.

My only gripe is the lack of free drinks.  I know this isn't Las Vegas, but I don't like the idea of paying for drinks in a place where I'm already shelling out tons of cash to play games.  The casino won't lose money on the free drink deal (since you'll always waste way more than the cost of the drink on the games) but I understand that businesses in the area would have suffered if the casino were handing out free drinks left and right (no one would ever pay to get a drink at a bar when they could go to the casino and get them for free).  They could at least stand to charge less than $4.25 for a bottle of Miller Lite - those prices are outrageous.

Recently stayed at Caesar's over the labor day holiday. We had a very nice room - no complaints there. Everything was up to par. However, the service and food were lacking. If you want to eat in the hotel, your choices are basically pizza and hot dogs, or $50+ per person fine dining - there really is no middle ground. We ate at the sports bar one night and were very underwhelmed with the super greasy food. Also tried the pizza place thinking it would actually be a sit-down place, but it was really more like a cafeteria. They did have some live music at different times which was nice. Having a Starbucks in the building was nice too - the people who working in that Starbucks were the friendliest people of everyone we met.

    Recommendations:
    1) Talk with the concierge for recommendations in the area. They have maps and can point out some great areas.
    2) If you want a really good food recommendation, ask the workers in Starbucks! They are the most honest and live in the area with good recommendations.
    3) Bring your own booze - otherwise you're going to spend A LOT at the hotel and gambling area, with drinks ranging in the $6-7 range per drink. We made drinks in our room and brought them down to the casino with no problem.
    4) Eat outside of the hotel. The food is WAY better.

Nice hotel.  Service could be better and less snooty.  We stayed at the Augustus Tower and it was a nice room.  I must say the bed is really comfy!  Augustus Tower is good for concerts but if you want to be near the casino, the pool or the restaurants, stay at the Forum Tower.  It's a long walk!!

In the casino, there are currency exchange machines so you can exchange your US Dollars into Canadian pretty quick.

I've stayed at the Caesars Palace in Las Vegas and the service is way better than here.  Caesars Windsor needs to step up and out of their small-town mentality if they want to get people to come to their hotel.

Another peeve I have is that they need better signage indicating where the hotel registration is or where the Augustus Tower vs Forum Tower from the streets.  It was crazy!  I had to lug my luggage from the Forum tower all the way to the Augustus Tower for the hotel check-in.  Ridiculous!!

First off the room: nice view of Detroit (that feels like an oxymoron...) and comfy beds. Lots of mirrors outside the bathroom which is nice when there are multiple females.
On the casino floor, there were a TON of senior citizens cracking me up. They all have leashes connecting them to the slot machines via their rewards cards. I didn't play as much as watch other people in my party play (not a lot of free cash = even the penny slots were painful). I do wish that they had more of the fun machines (Wizard of Oz and The Hangover). I waited almost all weekend to get a shot at the Hangover, it was totally worth it when I made $40 on a $2 bet right before I left, which made me +$20 on the weekend (I told you, times are tough). The cash conversion machines are everywhere, which is convenient. What isn't is the fact that Canada doesn't have dollar bills, so you're left with a lot of coin that you can't play in the slot machines. We paid for our drinks with the dollar coins, so it all worked out in the end. There is one machine on the second floor that converts Canadian to US.
Spent some time at both bars/lounges. The drinks at both were okay...but the auto-measures meant that my drinks felt weak. Especially after spending time at campus bars where my usual vodka cranberries are more vodka, less cranberry. We ate lunch one day and breakfast the next at the Artist Cafe. It was good, nothing special though. We had dinner had Neros and I would have liked to climb into my bowl of Lobster Mac and Cheese. The crabcake was pure crab, no fillers which as everyone knows, is the best.
All in all, it was a great weekend getaway and something that I imagine I would do again now that I have a passport, although next time I would like to see a show and eat outside of the Casino.

I never thought I'd say this, but I love penny slots!

I don't go to casinos expecting to leave with enough money to quit my job (although I do secretly pray for it ).  I like the thrill of the bonus spins even though my biggest win yesterday was 931 pennies.

The casino is completely smoke free, yay!  When we arrived shortly after 9:30 am all the seniors made a bee line for the $2.99 breakfast buffet.  The rest of the casino was practically deserted.  There are two floors to choose from and tons and tons of slots.  I can't remember much of what this place was like as Casino Windsor, but the now smoke free environment probably keeps away a lot of the Detroit crowd (as well as the new Passport rule).

Gaming here was a nice way to spend the day.  We took a long break from losing our money and walked along the Canadian riverwalk and admired the view of the GM building from our neighbors to the north (and east).

I wasn't here long enough to write a full review but a casino w. free valet, that is smoke-free, & has the actual handle bars on the slot machines really does make my day!   The slots weren't exactly flowing free, but I wasn't exactly popping them full of money either (times are tough people).

The Market Buffet was delicious, although not fully stocked for the lunchtime hour. It was a decent price for the amount of food you did get & the quality was very good. Their dessert bar was AWESOME - particularly the crepes station.

I'll probably go back the next time we visit our friendly neighbors to the north;)

Absolutely loved it!!!! I came on a coach bus trip on March 31, 2011 and it was such a blast!! The service and staff were friendly and enjoy talking to tourists. I paid $8 for a round trip coach bus ticket with Great Canadian Your Casino Express and I received a free buffet! Normally the price is $17.95 per person to eat at the buffet!

Now it's $12 with the Ad Save coupon or $15 without. However they give $20 in Fast Cash.

Even though the Canadian Dollar was worth more, the casino would exchange my US money at par. This was great. I would go all the time.

Now they have stopped doing this and the exchange rate is 1 US dollar = 0.93 CDN

Now there is no point to come over if I have to pay more money to gamble.

    Dear Casinos of the World,

Make me a winner and I'll write you a good review.

    Love and Rockets,
    Candice G.

Again, this lucky little gringa walked out a winner. Thanks for the $350, Canadialand! Caesars is housed in the lovely little Canadian town of Windsor, just  across and South of the lake. I was almost taken aback with this casinos cleanliness and demeanor. I could have eaten off the ground in the parking garage and my BF and I were the seediest lookin' people in the joint.... well, besides the one gypsy on the panda game next to me that put a hex on my machine- true story but I'l save it as I was already up eight hundo for the 2 casinos we went to in 24 hours.

The cashiers were friendly, as were the rest of the staff. The exchange rate from US to Canada was exact so that made it easy to keep track of my winnings and they charge you nothing to change your money over each way. This casino was far less crowded than it's sister casino Horseshoe in Hammond, Indiana... maybe since it's a smoke free establishment and all the chain smokers venture over to MGM D-Town for their cigs.

The tables here are pretty easy to come by and the BF and I were able to get 2 seats for Pai Gow poker pretty much immediately. The dealers are friendly, as were the other gamblers and they pretty much let everyone help everyone... and I think i learned how to say "sh*tty hand" in Chinese from new friend we made at the table... and yeah, we got a whole lotta sh*tty hands at this table.  Ah well, everyone knows the perfect cure for bit of a losing streak is a trip to the buffet!

i was a really disappointed that this property of Harrah's wasn't as generous as others. At the Hammond location, you can't walk 2 steps without someone offering you a free buffet if you play for 30 minutes- not this one. The BF and I let 12 hours slip away before we realized we should probbo eat something to sustain our gambling energy. I could tell from the first walk through that the buffet was going to blow. Canada casinos just don't know how us Americanos like to binge, I guess. The food was really awful. I know it's a casino buffet but let's be honest, casino's are the one place on Earth that are known for they're out of this world buffets... Not Caesars Windsor. I'd say the best part of the meal was the baby sushi rolls. And if you're familiar at all with casino buffets, you know that the sushi rolls are always the worst. The ones we had were crappy, but they were still better than anything else they had to offer. No crab legs on a Saturaday night- what? Oh, and the stir fry guy was yelling at people left and right. Hello, Soup Nazi. Then he'd be sure to tell you that he did what he could but you just didn't pick very good ingredients. Uhm, listen up, Guy. All you're doing is heating it up, you don't even add rice to it so with all do respect, suck it.

Besides the buffet that only deserves 2 stars, this joint, in the words of McSteamy, is what we consider a quality hang.

This review is only for the Vu Bar. I went here a few weeks ago while in Michigan. We decided to head over the border to enjoy some cocktails at their bar with panaromic views of the Detroit skyline and the Windsor riverfront. They even have a patio. So I give the view big stars, but the drinks 1 star. Where was the alcohol? Apparently the bartenders can't pour the alcohol into your glass on their own. Instead they have measured alcohol automatically poured in your glass. I don't know what to say. That is beyond LAME! Don't go here for the drinks! Go for the views.

We've been to many casinos, and this one is the worst for families. The only areas that allow children are the lobby, parking lot, Augustus Cafe and Augustus Tower. Kids aren't even allowed in the swimming pool, which is located in the Forum Tower anyway. Security was rude to us about our 4 year old riding the escalators in the lobby area: "It has to stop NOW". My husband was so disgusted, he cut our vacation short even though he had planned to spend more time in the high limit table games room, which he says is never that busy. I can see why this place is struggling during the recession. A four diamond casino that treat guests the way we were treated will not do well. I won't return anytime soon.
