Review from Megan S.
Ahh...the tastes of my childhood!
I was raised in a family that didn't eat out much (I'm still in my rebellion phase, clearly) but from time to time, my brother and I were able to convince my parents to order C Lovers. My favourite thing as a kid was scooping out the hot, steamy cod from the middle and eating it first, then drenching the skin in tartar sauce and eating it slowly, savouring every bite...
...OK sorry, enough reminiscing. I hadn't eaten at C Lovers in 10 years at least, maybe more, when a post-seawall bike ride brought us to its new West-End doorstep. I got the cod and it was as good as I remembered as a kid - really crispy, yummy skin wrapped around tender, moist fish. The coleslaw is solid there, and so are the fries - though I only had a few (I'm an all-killer, no-filler kind of gal).
Would've loved to have given it 5 stars, but had a few sticky points: there were 4 of us (2 couples) and each person ordered a 2-piece meal with cod to go. All together, it came to about $50 bucks...then we found out that the take-out meals don't include coleslaw, so we added that too. Once we got our food and headed out, we saw a sign advertising a deal that was exactly what we just ordered, with a few extras thrown in, for MUCH cheaper. Now - I get that it was partially our fault for not noticing the sign earlier, but I do think that for the sake of customer service, they absolutely should have pointed this out to us. Second issue - while the other 3 people in our group each had 2 large portions of fish, I had 1 small portion and 1 puny one. Wasn't too pleased about that either, but thankfully my husband let me take a big bite of one of his pieces to even things out.
I'll be back for sure - possibly to challenge my brother to an AYCE-off, but I think the combination of hunger, nostalgia and fried fish may ultimately lead to some unsavoury results...mwaa haha! -

Got the unlimited fish n chips. Not bad for $12, but the quality for the fish decreases after the first plate; not sure if there's an actual difference in which they give you or if the grease just becomes too much.
This location definitely has higher quality fish than the one in Horshoe Bay. -

I was so looking forward to the fish and chips, having walked by their location on horseshoe bay. We came in pretty late, so not sure if that made a difference in terms of fresheness of all the items; the batter was crispy, but a little thick, the fish was clean tasting but not really "tasty." We had halibut, cod, and the all you can eat, which is pollack. for the kids (this is perfect for families) of the three, I'd choose the halibutt, even if it's the most expensive. The fries just ok... Maybe it's because the next day we went to "go fish" was really spectacular.

C Lovers halibut and chip dinner was just the thing after playing Pitch & Putt Golf at Stanley Park. It was light and delicious. Loved the batter and the coleslaw was delightful as well. The premises were clean and the service was very fast. Enjoyed it very much! Priced right for the quality and portions. Yummy. We are stuffed!

I would never have eaten here had I not been exposed to this chain in some small town near Vernon. I am NOT a regular fish and chips eater. Once every 1-1.5 years will suffice. I think it's fun to break up the routine and C-Lovers was just the right place for that. Overall, the food was surprisingly so much better than I expected

The batter on the fish was nice light and crisp. Everything else was mediocre.

I went there last month with my BF . We were walking around Vancouver on a nice day trying to figure out what to eat when we both decided we wanted fish and chips. so he suggested this place down by the beach. so we got there and we ordered a combo for the two of us to split. 4pc halibut 6 pc shrimp fries coleslaw , and onion rings. I also ordered a side of two deep fried oysters yumm yumm. the whole thing totalled up to just over 30$ with a tip not too bad considering. The fish was super tender and yummy ( small but just enough) the shrimp im not a fan of anywhere but was okay. the onion rings were very yummy . the slaw was to die for and the oysters were just amazing!!!! I will go back that is 100% sure. They also offer a all you can eat alaskan pollack fish and chips meal for only 11.99 and it also includes a bottomless pop.

This place is absolutely fantastic! Newly opened, this C- Lovers location is very clean and nice looking. It has a nice big open kitchen for the public to see which is a bonus as well. This is a perfect place for a nice lunch. They also have a variety of other offerings on their menu to choose from.
You can't get much better than their Fish and Chips. They are so tasty and the batter is very light and crispy. Plus fresh cut fries to boot!! Pricing is fantastic for the quality and quantity of food.
Service was very good and friendly but most importantly they were fast. So if you are looking for good Fish and chips place, this is it. -

food was mediocre. service was shit though! went in, one table was occupied. waited at the door and the waitress/hostess comes along and just stares at us blankly. i told her we needed a table for two and she just walks away... was i supposed to follow her?! anyway i figured that my bf and i should just find a booth. we sat down and decided on the ayce. we ended waiting for her for a good ten minutes before we were able to flag her down. she comes up to the table and just stands there. she is DEFINITELY not mute!!! why she didnt say a word the entire time is really beyond me.
Food was sad. More of the crust than the actual fish itself. Fries weren't bad though. -
Review from Namit M.
Decent fish and chips. We ordered the platter for two and the fish (halibut) was excellent, however, the shrimp was a bit over battered. The chips (fries) are decent and not very greasy.
The portion was large and plentiful. We will go back to fill our craving. The staff was very friendly. -

Besides the coleslaw salad, the service and the food was really bad. I have ordered the c-lovers plate and didn't enjoy one thing on my plate. The fish and shrimps were thickly battered and the only thing that I could taste was grease. Even the onion rings tasted like deep frying oil. Although my boyfriend had the all you can eat, he didn't want to stay for finishing his first plate. The ice tea that they brought with his meal, after asking for it a couple of times, was mostly water rather than ice tea it self. I am glad we gave it a try just for the curiosity of this new place but there is no way I will ever go back or send anyone I know.

I was sad to C Mr. Pickwick's had closed but very very happy to C that C-Lovers opened just a couple of blocks away. After an awesome day of playing 18 holes in Stanley Park, my starving friends and I decided to give this place a try. It really delivered! We ordered halibut & chips, haddock & chips and a side of onion rings. The food was fantastic - good portions, no heavy batter or oil and great tasting. The only downside to the visit was that the "all-you-can-eat" isn't offered on Friday nights. Happy to report that C-Lovers is a great (and better?) replacement for Mr. Pickwick's!

This place was a very very big hit with my friends and family. Many were up here to visit vancouver, well canada, for the first time. All you can eat was the option they used and believe you me, they took full advantage of the opportunity too. The fish was very good and quite flavourful. The relaxed atmosphere was something many commented on later. We went down the street first, to an establishment that was more "uppity" and were not pleased. This is definitely the best place in vancouver to have a nice and relaxing eating experience with great service and quality food. LOVED IT!!!!!

Newly opened. We lost our other F&C place, and this one serves really nice fresh fish. We had the Halibut. Delicious!

My family has a fish market on the Oregon Coast so I am sort of picky when it comes to fish and chips... but C-Lovers delivered. The fish was good, the portion was large, and the cost was reasonable.
