I decided to go with CK MOVING for the single reason that they included 5 weeks storage. I called and spoke with Deneen and stated that I needed approx. 6 wks. She said they could accommodate me and would incl. the extra time at no cost..I gave them a deposit and booked to move Oct.28. As time drew closer to the date I was to move, I emailed because I still had not received any form of contract stating that my move was confirmed or that they were incl. my 6 wks storage for no extra cost. DENEEN emailed me and stated that YES the storage was incl.at no extra cost and not to worry they would be there on the 28th.

For weeks before my delivery we spoke several times, they kept calling wanting to deliver my things earlier than agreed. I kept telling them that I didn't take possession until Dec. 15th therefore it was impossible. Then the week before the 15th Deneen called again wanting me to take delivery. When I said I couldn't yet because I wasn't able to move in until the 15th, she said that the trucks booked and they didn't have one coming to Calgary and that I would not be able to get my belongings until the 1st or 2nd wk in Jan.

I started getting upset and said that wasn't what was agreed upon when I arranged to use their company and it was now 2 wks before christmas and they had all my presents and christmas stuff, not to mention all my furnishings, how was my family to have Christmas without any presents or furniture. They said they would call me back later and that they would see what they could do.

Deneen called back that day and said that they did their best to have my things on the 15th as agreed upon they have a truck but it might be the 16th and that they needed me to give them my visa number for the balance of my move which was approx. $3,685, to which I did.  I was very relieved to know my things were going to be delivered before the holidays and our Christmas wouldn't be ruined.

When the movers arrived and opened the truck I saw that my belongings were literally scattered everywhere. My Sony flat screen tv was lying face down on the floor with boxes and other items on top.....everything was scattered throughout the truck, boxes had large holes in the sides like someone had punched their fists through them, the tops were all smashed in and the corners and sides were so badly crushed, it actually looked like everything I owned had been hand bombed into the truck.

I was told my things were loaded once at my home, then unloaded in Hamilton into a storage unit, then reloaded again and shipped to B.C, unloaded yet again and then reloaded onto a truck that brought it to me in Calgary....therefore it was loaded 3 times and unloaded 3 times.

I saw a large box that they had packed for me which contained a very large antique crystal lamp that had been handed down to me all I heard when he lifted the box was smashed glass....when I opened it I saw it was absolutely destroyed, my dressers had deep long scratches....my leather couch had several scratches etc.. I expressed to the movers how angry I was at the shape of all my belongings I was unpacking and found so much stuff smashed to pieces, I was getting very angry.

I spent the night unpacking, upset to see so many of my items were so badly damaged and broken. I was in tears at the thought of how my things had been so poorly handled. I took pictures and emailed them,I called first thing the next morning.

Shortly after, one of the guys that delivered my things showed up at my home and said he needed me to sign the sheets with the list of my belongings he'd delivered as he had forgotten and I also had to sign a visa sheet for the payment over the phone so they had the hard copy with a signature. I said I wasn't signing anything until they did something about my stuff, he then said that if I didn't then they couldn't cover the damages or  do anything, so I signed. He also said that they would refund the $300 deductible back onto my visa as soon as he got back to the office.(they didn't) .

Their website clearly states "We have all the necessary equipment to assure that your belongings remain safe and in perfect condition during the move"  "as a professional, careful long distance moving company, we will ensure the careful and safety of your valuables and treat your belongings as if they were our own."

My antique dresser, dining room hutch, dining table leaf, brand new Stainless
barbecue are just a few severely damaged items. I couldn't believe the sheer disregard for my belongings. I also realized I was missing alot of loose itemsand boxes. I estimate there is thousands of dollars in damaged and missing items, to mention a few, a Cast iron Garden arch with bench, snowboards, antiques, box of black onyx dishes and many other boxes that have never turned up.

They emailed to tell me they with give me 60cents a lb for all lost and broken items. So for my 105th Anniversary Harley Davidson leather jacket I get $2.40 replacement

Dreadful movers.  No contract was forthcoming after the deposit was paid, my moving date was changed at great expense and inconvenience to me, many things broken, I received a box of someone else's stuff, and am missing some of my things.

We dealt with CK as the last leg in moving our household from Ontario to Vancouver. We needed the delivery split over two locations, but on the morning of the day we got a belligerent call from the driver refusing to do it. He suggested we come to the storage place (an hour away) to pre-sort it for an additional "$700 at $100/hour". We rearranged things to allow a one-point delivery.

They gave us a projected delivery time of 13:00 to 16:00. At 13:00 we called to check, and they said they didn't have a truck ready ... but "any minute now" they would. At 14:00, they started loading a truck. It took them an hour to get downtown, but  they went to the wrong address. It took another half an hour for them to come to the right address.

Then they started unloading. It was evident from looking at the interior of the truck that they had taken no care with loading. Numerous boxes crushed, furniture piled haphazardly on top of items clearly tagged with "fragile" tape and stickers, ripstop bags torn open, heavy-duty zippers opened and left that way.

The unloading was done without care. Boxes already crushed were further damaged by having heavy items piled on top of them. Everything thrown and dropped. No respect for "this side up" or "fragile" stickers. When asked to slow down and take some care the response was "your boxes have given us too much trouble".

When we started unpacking and assessing the damage we found that very nearly every piece of furniture had been dented, scratched, or broken outright. Many fragile things smashed, some of them of some value, which items had been triple-packed. A metal toolbox, strong enough to support a 280 lb man, had been crushed and deformed. It's hard to imagine how that could happen accidentally; it gives every appearance of deliberate damage.

We suggest that if at all possible, you avoid dealing with this company.
