Ohhhhh my goodness...it's impossible to walk by this bakery without becoming overcome with temptation by a sudden cupcake craving! Such a cutesie baked good paradise located just around 27th ave on Dunbar. Their goodies include cookies, cookie sandwiches, cupcakes, even a decadently rich organic dark hot chocolate powder I have purchased on more than one occasion.

Everything about this place, from the flowery wallpaper to the contents of the display cases filled with their sweet creations, is outright adorable. If you wander your eyes beyond the counter for a moment, you can catch a glimpse of the bakers working away in the back squeezing icing, measuring ingredients, and arranging raw dough on baking sheets.

Butter is the best way to treat yourself...once in a while!

    You like-a the butter?
    The butter is goooOOOOoood.
Homemade cookie sandwiches, cupcakes and butter cream frosting... these are just a few of the many delectable delights you'll encounter at (appropriately titled) 'Butter'. Located in Dunbar, this little shop has this shabby chic, country style feel. You walk in and are enveloped by the warm, creamy scent of freshly baked goods.
I'll warn you now, yes it's a bit pricey, but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for... and the getting is DELICIOUS!!!
My favourite item to purchase is their homemade coconut toasted marshmallows. DI-VINE!!!
All they're missing is a little area with table and chairs so you can sit and indulge while taking in the warm and friendly atmosphere. Add that 'chill out area' and you'll have yourself a 5-star review.
    Mmmmmmmmm..... Butter.......

Welcome to the cutest little store with the cutest little workers making the cutest little baked goods. Okay, not so little. The scones-of-the-day are the size of a 7 year old child's foot and caused a former scone-hater to slave away in her own kitchen trying to capture the very essence that turned her bitter heart into buttery goodness.

I didn't get to try the other yummies, but you can bet your bottom dollar that I spent a good 10 minutes debating and salivating. And people seemed to agree with my sweet tooth because the store had a steady flow of customers coming in and out for the 10 minutes I was there.

Now, as much as their baked goods made me want to swim in a pool of them, their marshmellows were so-so. They weren't as fluffy as the cuteness of the store, but they get bonus points for packaging.

The only thing that would make this place better is if there were places to sit and enjoy your pastry, cafe style. *insert mice making dresses and blue cartoon birds serving tea*

Overall, Butter Baked Goods should be in a Disney movie.

What I love about Butter Baked Goods is the cupcakes, but everything there is good...occasionally I buy a cookie or a bar. I normally just stick to basic chocolate or vanilla cupcakes, but for the adventurous, there's sometimes fancier ones like pistachio.
The service is good, everybody is really friendly.

    The negatives:
    - Their baked goods can be expensive, so I try not to buy stuff from there too often
    - Everything in there is unhealthy, but its a desserts bakery, so of course it's not gonna be healthy!
-They only make cinnamon buns on Saturday and sometimes they run out, so make sure to get them in the early afternoon. - That way they will be fresh. (They package the cinnamon buns at 1pm)

Oh my gosh! The cookie sandwiches here are life-changingly good! I got the chocolate cookie with cream.

After three bites, I had to put it down until I could get ahold of a glass of red wine. Once we checked into our hotel, we finished the rest of the cookie sandwich during the wine reception and it was a perfect pairing.

This bakery is going on my must-do list for next time I'm back.

I have not been to the actual bakery just yet, I'm a tad bit afraid to actually.  I've tried a bunch of their goods from Whole Foods and its ridiculously good.

Their cookies are too sickeningly sweet for me to eat all in one sitting.  Marshmallows are soo fluffy, classic flavours like Vanilla and Strawberry are d-lish.
The real star, is the Lemon Loaf.  I usually really dislike lemon products, not going to lie, but Butter Bakery, got me good.  The icing on this loaf, makes it finger-lickin' good.  I can eat the whole loaf in one sitting.

What are you waiting for?  Go get some!!!

I tried the cupcakes, marshmallow, whoppie pie, lemon meringue tart, scones , black bird cake and all of the bars. The cupcakes are NEVER FRESH, its always dry and crumbly, even when I ask the lady if they are made everyday- and they are not cheap. The marshmallow, I found that it wasn't at all that special, it just tasted like a Kraft marshmallow, just sweeter. The whoppie pie- the cookie was moist, but the cream was too sweet. The lemon meringue tart and the scones were good. The black bird cake has a weird texture resembling lard, and its very heavy, and gives a oily aftertaste. Out of all the bars, the brownie is the best, although I would not go out of my way to purchase it. The servers ( all but the tall Asian one) are sort of "cold" and snotty, as they hardly ever smile, almost robotic like. All in all, the goodies are palatable, but it does not compare to place such as Faubourg or Ganache Patisserie.

I took my friend out for lunch for her birthday and she asked if we could pick up some sugar-loaded carbs afterward to ease her pain of getting older. Naturally being the obliging friend that I am, I said sure - enter Butter Baked Goods.

The bakery looks like a Crabtree and Evelyn store dipped in Shabby Chic. The décor is beautiful but so uber feminine that if I were a guy I'd worry about my gonads falling off when I passed through the door.

We each ordered a cupcake and one of their sandwich-style cookies. Everything looked so delicious that it was hard to limit ourselves to just that. We could hardly wait to get outside to dive into our purchases!

The cupcake I chose was the chocolate cupcake with raspberry icing. How could I resist a cupcake with a Swedish berry garnishing the top? I noticed immediately that the buttercream icing had been chilled, like the cupcake had just recently been removed from the fridge. With my first bite, the entire hard mass of icing fell off of the top of my cupcake as a giant lump and landed on the ground after making a quick pit stop on my blouse. Sorry cupcake, zero stars, maybe the crow that got to eat the icing would have given it a higher rating!

Later, my friend and I decided to split each of the cookies; the oreo and the peanut butter. The peanut butter cookie was mana of the gods. It had such a rich, buttery homemade peanut flavour with a delicious, not overly sweet peanuty fluffy center. This is a cookie designed to share although I could see times when it would make a delicious meal replacement.

I wish I had stopped eating right there because the oreo cookie was a disappointment.  I recognized it immediately as a whoopie pie that I've eaten many times in New England (which was their "birthplace"). This cookie was a poor facsimile and lacked a definitive chocolate flavour in the outer layer. Frankly, if I was blindfolded I wouldn't have guessed it was chocolate in 5 guesses.  The filling was overpoweringly  sweet and also lacking any discernable flavour. My friend agreed and the cookie sadly ended up in the trash.

Bad luck? Bad Choices? I was expecting a lot better. Cupcake - zero, Peanut Butter Cookie - five, Oreo Cookie - two.

I can only review the cookies - chocolate chip and some ginger type.

I have had better. I hate to say it they were to buttery for me. I did like the chewy texture but that butter after taste was to much.

After so many rave reviews I will probably try other things from Butter. For now I am disappointed with their cookies.

    Well holy BALLS.

You know when you hear a place is great, best ever and you try it and it's just not as awesome as it's been talked about?

This is NOT the case here, I was blown away by the quality, taste and presentation. I loved the old-timey feel of the place, the screen door that other Yelpers have mentioned is a sweet touch. Feels very homey indeed.

    Onto the goodies!

I bought the Homemade 'You know what', the Oreo, and a bag of Raspberry Marshmallows. I would have bought more, it all looked so so good, but I know me and I would eat it all...so sanity prevailed.

The marshmallows were tasty, the raspberry flavouring was subtle. I would have liked it a bit bolder, but I mean come on they're homemade!

The Oreo however, I swear there were angels singing, birds flying overhead carrying ribbons, the whole bit when I tore into that. The cookie is perfectly chocolatey and not overly sweet, and the BUTTERCREAM..ohh jeebus..perfectly done, no hint of that awful shortening 'frosting' other bakeries try to pawn off. Buttery, creamy and fabulous.

I'll be back, you can count on that. :D

I have eaten many cupcakes in Vancouver (and have made many more), and hereby declare that this place has consistently made the best quality and best tasting ones that my money has bought in a store so far. Some of their most popular selling items are carried in Whole Foods! That's how you know they're good.

At my last job, there was a shift that nobody could cover, so I volunteered, and my wonderful, diamond of an employer picked up a box of treats from Butter for us to share during that shift. When I opened the box, I'm pretty sure that a rainbow and a unicorn jumped out, and a choir of angels in glitter dresses was singing overhead somewhere.

If you can find it, do try the elusive chocolate cupcake with raspberry frosting. Call ahead and ask! After biting into it, I actually yelled, "Oh my God! What is in these?!" because the frosting was hot pink and tasted real. Not like a hint of fruit, not like nasty bland shortening frosting, but like, KA-POW, my taste buds are under seige from an army of fruit! Wowsers. These people take their frosting seriously, and I give them multiple thumbs up.

I tried a few more treats; the marshmallow squares are delightful, and come in a variety of flavours, including gingerbread, for Christmas! They're light, fluffy, pillowy, and cut into these awesome rectangles that you can pull apart with a friend.

The shop is cute, like a 1950's grandma's kitchen, the packaging is adorably, daintily retro, and they use real ingredients! Yes!! The only reason why they don't have five stars is because the service varies...sometimes good, sometimes meh.

Any time I go to some type of party that is catered with cupcakes and I see that they're not from Butter, my inner food critic sulks like a five year-old, because there's a good chance that they won't be as fabulous.

    Butter is beautiful.

I got one of the peanut butter cookies and the famous home made"you know what" I shared the peanut butter cookie with my partner because they are so HUGE! But now I'm wishing I didn't, they are so amazingly tasty! Sure I was a little upset when he said it was hands down the best peanut butter cookie he's had, but I am willing to give this one to Butter because it was true. Haven't had the chocolate cookie yet as I'm waiting. The smell of the cookies alone made me happy, I could even smell them in the paper bag on the bus ride home. I'm sure it will taste great because is smells amazing! I will definitely be going back for more.

Didn't exactly make it to the storefront but was excited to see the marshmallows and cookies at Bella Gelateria!  I saw the packaging and had flashbacks of having the same marshmallows from Joan's on Third Ave in LA.  After eating them, I was more than convinced they are the same exact ones, and after confirming with past pictures... they are!  They were the best toasted coconut marshmallows ever and they still are.  I also picked up raspberry marshmallows and the homemade oreos and they were both very delish too!  Next time, I will definitely make it a point to come to the store!

Like a dog who can pick up the scent of a criminal or someone in distress, I have an eagle-eye nose ;p when it comes to tracking the smell of baked goods all the way across town.

Overcome with a spicy aroma, I was on the hunt. Sugar plums dancing  in my head, stars in my eyes and a little bit of drool... I was in--like a lightening bolt-- through the charming door at Butter: gingerbread beeping on my radar loud and clear!

Once inside, I went into sensory overload: cupcakes, tarts, pies, cakes, cookies, teas in beautiful tins, marshmallows, brownies... all wrapped up in little bags with loops for stocking and Christmas trees.

My nose zeroed in on the gingerbread man but it was my eyes and my tummy that also had me reaching for a homemade s'more (with those beautiful marshmallows) and a candy cane cupcake.

Decadence does not come cheap but, oh, lordy, does it ever taste priceless!

PS. I did share with Mr. Peter S, but I won't lie... I ate most of all of the goodies within a few hours of bringing them home.

I think this is definitely one of the best bakeries in Vancouver.  I went here for the homemade oreo featured in the 101 things to eat in Vancouver before you die.  And the oreo definitely deserves to be on that list.  We also shared a pistachio chocolate cupcake and it was soooo yummy. It's by far the best cupcake I've had.  It was dense, but moist in the inside. The frosting was made perfectly, and wasn't too sweet.  It was heaven.  And baked on site. I wish the other cupcake shops would learn something from Butter.

Next time I'm going to try out their homemade marshmallows.

If you want REAL homemade baking, this is the place to go!! Everything is made from ingredients you can pronounce and probably have in your house! The cupcakes WILL go bad if you leave them out for 4 days, it's a sign that there aren't any preservatives in their baking!! Unlike "Cupcakes" cupcakes, they use real buttercream icing. Yay!! Skip "Cupcakes" and go to Butter instead!

Their signatures are the cupcakes, the "Oreo" (you will find it in stores labeled as the "homemade You-Know-What"), which is amazing, and their marshmellows, which are soft and gooey and absolutely delicious!!

Pie is an underappreciated commodity.  Yes, Butter's cookies are amazing, as are their cupcakes and marshmallows, but I want to take a moment to highlight the unsung pastry, the humble pie.

All-butter pie crusts are the best, always, but Butter's is even higher and flakier than normal.  I had a strawberry-rhubarb pie this summer that lasted a week and half without the crust getting soggy.  Not to mention the filling, which was a perfect blend of sweet and tart, without too much cornstarch so it stayed fairly liquid.

In addition to pie heaven, the proprietress is quite warm and charming and the decor is like my Martha Stewart fantasy kitchen come true.  Even my Southern mom approved of every detail.

I smelled the aroma from the street and had to go in. Such a cute little place. Nice old fashioned country house decor, smiling faces, tons of people working (probably getting stuff ready to sell in the stores)... This place was calling me like sexy booty shaking on a dance floor. I had to see what was up.

Deeeeee-liiiiisssshhhh! I got the dream bar and before I even fell asleep that night I was dreaming of it. The buttery shortbread, the coconut, the cherry, the buttercream icing on top.... All that butter--which is quite appropriate given the name of the place--was making me melt as it melted away in my mouth. So good! I savoured every last bite and wanted to immediately jump off the bus and jog back to Butter once I ran out of it.

I can't wait to go back and load up on more empty calories of delicious saturated fat and sugar! They have so many things I have yet to try. I heard the cookies are a bit on the sweet side from a coworker but I haven't tried it so can't say so for myself. I have a bit of a sweet tooth, especially for high quality goods with real butter, and even though it has no chocolate (which is my go-to sweet thang), the dream bar gave me the fix I needed!

    Butter me up! Loves it.

Update: Since the above was posted, I went back a second time and got the dream bar again and the peanut butter cookie sandwich. Amazing!! It was melting in my mouth. So delicious. I will be thinking about it constantly. Also, I think it's cheaper if you buy their stuff here rather than from a grocery store.

Another update: Tried the Homemade Oreo as well as some bar with a fudge brownie base, walnuts and homemade marshmallow with toasted coconut dusted on top. The Oreo was absolutely delicious! The other bar, not the best. I wouldn't get it again that's for sure. The fudge brownie part was a bit dry and it left me wanting more. The Oreo was fabulous, though if I had to choose between the oreo and the peanut butter cookie I'd take the peanut butter cookie definitely! Peanut butter cookie and dream bar remain my favourites.

Swung by Butter the other day and felt like I had been transported to some southern farm in Savanna complete with squeaky screen door, and a woman behind the till who could have easily passed for my mum... it was awesome.  The place has a shabby chic kinda vibe, distressed furniture, cake plates on the back wall, rose wallpaper as far as the eye can see,  and some pretty "sweet" baked goods to boot!  I ordered the Oreo cookie and was pleasantly surprised....however my companions both ordered the peanut butter cookie sandwich  and IT BLEW MY MIND!  it was the right amount of cookie, and the right amount of pea-nutty goodness... yum!

Walking down the street, it's easy to be distracted by the variety of goods the store fronts of Dunbar offer. And then, there is Butter. Ahhh, Butter.

The soft pastels and simplicity of the window displays and the awning hold the promise of a trip back in time. When you open the screen door entrance and feel the swing of the door and hear the unmistakeable sound of the screen door opening and closing, you are back at Grandma's house or at the home of your favorite childhood Aunt.

The smells of the baking are a delight, as are the decorating choices. I love that you can see the baking going on in the well organized, uncluttered kitchen area in the back. Yes! There are real people rolling out those biscuits and baking the dough!

The baking! OMG, the baking! It is authentically, buttery deliciousness. The scone of the day flavor changes, but the flaky goodness and perfectly brown crust sprinkled with sugar never does. The Dun-bar is an unlikely combination of Oatmeal and Mexican caramel. Just eat it. Whatever you have to do to work it off will be well worth the effort!

The signature marshmallows are beautiful and very tasty and I will be returning for a regular baking fix. Don't tell anyone, but I think the cookies might actually be better than my mum's!

Butter also carries a limited selection of The O Dor, a lovely tea brand from France that I highly recommend - the perfect drink to accompany Butter's Baked Goods.

I feel pretty darn lucky that Rosie and her mum teamed up to bring us all the delights that Butter offers.

The smell of this shop is intoxicating ... oh my god, wasn't prepared for the delicious shock to my senses.

It's a small, quaint bakery with a nice view into the busy kitchen.  And, like its name, you'll find many pounds of butter being used.

I tried the pistachio cupcake and it's creamy goodness was clearly made from heaping amounts of dairy goodness.  For the next hour after eating it, my lips smelled of butter as though I had rubbed shortbread cookies all over my face.  Granted, I did chug it down rather quickly.

While I can't allow myself to visit too often, I will be back to try more treats.  I've noticed Urban Fare is now carrying some of the marshmallows and cookie sandwiches.  Mmmmm, peanut butter cookies sandwiches ... SO rich and good.

I don't have a sweet tooth but I love baking and I love visiting bakeries - go figure! My friend brought me here and introduced me to my first homemade, non-processed marshmallow and it has changed my life. $6 for a small bag is the perfect gift. Everyone I gave it to loved it. The vanilla and toasted coconuts were the best. I've tried their other more exotic flavours and didn't like them as much as the classic ones.

Growing up, I loved eating Oreos so I was excited to see their homemade version for $2.75. It was a massive cookie and worth the price. It's definitely a decadent treat. I just wish I had a cold glass of milk to go with it!

I paid a visit to the bakery as soon as I read about their giant oreo cookies featured in the 2009 edition of the Vancouver Must Eat list by Vancouver Magazine.

The were so many good looking goodies to choose from in the stores - cookies, cupcakes, brownies, nanaimo bars, scones, muffins, and tarts.  I brought home 2 giant oreo cookies and 2 peanut butter sandwich cookies.  The palm size cookies are light in texture but rich in flavour.  They are so big that we had to split them in halves to share.  Perfect to go with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream.  OK may be two.

I can't wait to go back and try their cupcakes.

I thought Butter was pretty good...I was attracted by the small town "mom and pop" feel...I LOVE the cake plate collection and the flowered wallpaper..the screen door at the entrance is also a nice touch...

Started a few years back by a mother and daughter team, Butter is a nice addition to the Dunbar neighborhood...you totally get the feeling of a family run business when you go in...which is sorta what Dunbar is all about....

For me..the look and feel of the place is better then the actual baking...there is a great variety of sweets and cookies to choose from..I have tried the Oreo cookie, the Peanut Butter sandwich cookie and the marshmallows..all tasty but nothing to get too excited about...the cookies were under cooked and the marshmallow were just ok...I did love the cookie bottoms on the marshmallow that I had...

I have heard that they have a mean cinnamon bun which I look forward to trying in the future...but they only make these on the weekends...

It's okay. I got one of each of whatever was behind the glass including the infamous oreo-like cookies, peanut butter cookies, marshmallows, and those round and square treats that are as forgettable as the taste.

I honestly expected a lot especially as the name of the pastry shop alone salivate my taste buds. I most especially expected the cookies to be super soft, super moist, and super chewy reminiscent of true home baked goodies. Alas they were a little bit moist, a little bit chewy, a little bit dry, and more crumbly than a failed crinkle cookie. It feels more mass-produced that I would at this point prefer the Nabisco cookies. If these are their version of oreo cookies which look like two gigantic crinkles sandwiched with a layer of Crisco, then I'll stick to the original double stuffed ones, thank you.

It's a shame because they have good customer service and a nice homey store.

The only recommendation I have and one that will make me come back are the marshmallow treats in peanut butter.

Otherwise it's not worth trekking to when you don't live near the area.

Mouth starts to salivate, eyes start to glaze and I have this wistful look on my face, I must be daydreaming of the Oreo sandwich from butter bakery.

Who knew something so simple and small could be such a turn on. The creamy vanilla butter cream filling oozes of richness with the perfect amount of sweetness, in between 2 chewy chocolate cookies, it is a delicious aphrodisiac.

Thank you Tina H. if it weren't for your awesome review I would have forgotten to yelp!

My sweet tooth has dwindled over the years so this place was just too much for me. I got some of their mini cupcakes and felt sick after just one, but my friend happily gobbled down the rest for me.
I was intrigued by their homemade marshmallows but my head was still high off of all the sugar that I couldn't take the plunge.
I will be back for their marshmallows though and hopefully they are as delicious as they look.

I received two baby blue boxes of Butter Baked Goods at work. The first box contained  mini cupcakes, shortbread cookies, and rumballs. The second box contained fudge bars and fruit tarts.  I tried the mini cupcakes first and I wasn't shockingly impressed by the taste, but I liked it. It wasn't too sweet, very nicely decorated, the frosting tasted fresh and it had a nice light flavour.

I had to try out the fudge before I left work. It didn't taste like fudge and the appearance of many stripes had to be a Christmas decoration, and it didn't add any significate taste to it.  It looked like a children's first baking project.  I ate a small portion of it and I had to throw away the rest. It didn't taste fresh. On the positive note, the fudge bar wasn't super sweet. Good fudge bars are extremely hard to come by. Butter Baked Good fudge bars fails to be any good. It didn't taste fresh either.

I also tried their fruit tarts. The one I tried looked like it was made out of raisins and chopped up dates. I like it! It wasn't too sweet and the crust of the tart tasted soft and fresh.

Shortbread cookies were good but note amazing. They tasted fresh and soft. Not too sweet.

Rumballs which I tasted was nothing special. So, plain, it tasted like easy to make homemade rumballs. I ate two rumballs and I feel slightly lightheaded. They must have put a lot of rum in these rumballs.  Again, like with other Butter Baked Goods products, they're not too sweet.

My simple conclusion is that all Butter Baked Goods are simple homemade type products that isn't much different from your IGA, Safeway, Save-on-Foods baked goods, except B.B.G. products are less sweet. You should avoid their fudge bars. Nasty. After 3 days sitting in the lunch room, there were plenty left. Looks like the word spreaded out that they're pretty digusting!

I bought the Butter Baked Good @ Urban Fare... but I am reviewing it sole of the giant oreo itself, made by Butter Baked Goods of course.

Let me first tell you that I am not an Oreo lover.... actually I just don't like to cream.. the chocolate cookie itself is fine.. and with this being on the list of "Vancouver's 101 Best Eats", you know I'm going to take a chance.

There is an alternative which is the giant peanut butter cookie - which, I have to admit would have been my preferred option.. but I'm a sucker for the list!

For the price of ONE cookie - it was $3.50 approximately. I've seen that you can buy this in a pack of 4 at whole foods for $11.99..... I tried to dip it in milk and the softness of the cookie would not allow me to keep still as the cookie would start to bend and break - signs of a fresh baked cookie (or a hefty amount of cornstarch to keep it soft perhaps?). The texture of the cookie was delicious - not too sweet, and super soft as I mentioned. The cream however....... not my thing, just like the original. Trust me - if you love Oreos.. you will definitely love this... but for my tastes, I will give it 3.5*

If you would like to know size wise.. it is about 2.5 oreo cookies in one.

Oh wow. Imagine a bakery that smells as good as Cupcakes looks, and you get Butter.

On a recent visit I opened the door to the thick scent of creamy butter. Two display cases feature a range of cookies, cupcakes, and dessert bars. Everything, of course, is made with butter and assembled with care. The staff provided ultra good and friendly service. Watch for the sample plate of dessert bars and be sure to try a few.

There has been a bakery in this location for 80+ years, although Butter opened a little over a year ago. Go just for the smell, but have a cookie or two since you're there.

    One star off because:

1.) You start eating one of these cookies/cakes/what have you, it is impossible to stop. I wish I was kidding, but I take one bite and the next moment there's a mess of crumbs on the floor and my fingers are sticky. Have you seen the size of some of those cookies? Protesting tummy ahoy.

2.) The number of times I've had people look at me funny as I sat at the bus stop in front of the store polishing off said cookie/cake/what have you (licking my fingers of course 'cause I'm a lady like that) is embarrassing. I like to think they're staring because they wish they were mowing down on an awesome baked good.

3.) If I wasn't so in love with that place, I'd fit into that damn dress.

Ah well. Some things are worth it.

I love this place, i lived outwest all summer and was dissapointed i found out about this place so late.  The decor inside is modern, but its also similar to the ffties.  The baked goods are displayed beautifully and they taste amazing.  they make their own marshmallows in many different colours.  They make a homemade oreo, its is so good.  They also make squares, cookies, cupcakes.  If you are in the area, definetely check this place out.

I love Butter! They have the most delicious cupcakes and their cookies are delightful.
The chocolate frosting on the cupcakes has just a hint of salt, which matches the sweet/salty taste. If you're lucky enough to get a 'smores cupcake, then you also get a taste of their homemade marshmallows. They make a lemon meringue cupcake that has meringue frosting topping white cake and fabulous lemon curd filling. And the ultimate chocolate cupcake that is filled with dulce de leche, topped with meringue frosting, and then dipped in chocolate. Heaven!
The cookies are huge and with all of the different flavours, I find it easiest to buy one of the pre-made half-dozen bags they have available.
All products are clearly made with butter and top ingredients and I appreciate that they're available at Whole Foods and Urban Fare as Dunbar's a little out of the way. The store is cute and while the level of service varies greatly, the products definitely make up for it.

Run, don't walk, to Butter, the newest bakery to open up on Dunbar Street, especially for their homemade marshmallows. I recently made a visit there with a friend -- she declared our Oreo-like cookie to be "ridiculously good," and I felt the same way about my cupcake. It is also a beautiful space, redecorated after Butter took over the old Ideal Bakery, which had been a Dunbar mainstay for years and years.

Well the place is named Butter, so you know that everything will be sinfully good, soft, buttery and gooey! Homemade marshmallows.  Pink, blue, yellow and peppermint ones too during the holidays. Carefully baked cupcakes, cookies, cakes and things that make you wish you did not like sweets at all. The aroma is sweet and reminds you why the smell of fresh baked bread and cinnamon buns turn a guy on.  Their CB's have pecans and raisins in them. The morning glory muffin and the bacon cheddar scone is a very carby start to the morning ans will keep you going until lunch time.  The cookies are like a sandwich -- the peanut butter one is layered between two cookies and then a PB filling.  Need I go on?  Yes, I do.  Don't leave the bakery without trying the mini lemon meringue tarts.

OMG!!! Picked up a package of Coconut Marshmallows at Dean & Deluca in Napa CA almost 2 weeks ago. Now back in Honolulu and just opened them up -- all I can say is, they are the best confection I have ever eaten.  Well worth the price of $8.50 for 4.4 oz. Will be in NYC in a couple of months and I sure hope I can find them at D&D, there.  My only disappointment with Butter Baked Goods is their website is lacking consumer information and a link to contact them.
