This restaurant has a million dollar patio. If you have a dog seating on the outside of the patio fence, they will bring u the water bowl and a treat! Although dogs are not technically allowed in the patio, the restaurant is definitely a dog friendly one!
I had their seared tuna salad, napoleon pizza and sangria. The food was hearty, big in portions, and tasted awesome!! The sangria wasn't anything special like Havana on Commercial, but it was good enough! The service, unlike other reviews, was great! I guess that depends on the server you get!
I would definitely come here again for the food, the view, and great service! -

Also known as 'Pirate Pub'... strange angle really - pirate inspired interior and heavy emphasis on rum-based drinks. Remove the alcohol and it's like a cheesy fun centre for kids. But it's just the decor - I half expected the staff to be dressed in puffy shirts - but nope.
I don't understand the fascination with pirates... in the ninja vs. pirate debate - I side with the shadowy masters of death... but even a ninja-themed bar would be pretty lame - even with shuriken coasters and lots of running with arms stretched back. Alright... nevermind... that would be sorta cool.
Anyways - this joint is owned by the same folks that own The Mill - and it actually operates on the same principle - you're paying a premium price for the patio/view - except the patio is actually quite small. And there are tons of cyclists and rollerbladers whipping by.
The view is alright, I suppose (as a bridge nerd, I'm just not that impressed with Burrard Bridge). And cyclists... I really don't want to watch grown, hairy men ride by in 'like-I'm-wearing-nothing-at-all - nothing-at-all - nothing-at-all' bicycle shorts.
Anyways - pitchers are ~$20 and it's ~$7 for a full pint and they have large tables - overall good for groups and if you enjoy the view. But not my kinda joint - pirates are so passé.Listed in: A Compendium of Fine…, Shots Fired

Thinking I'd relive my previous good experience, a friend and I headed to the Pirate Pub for a drink and some dinner.
Our pitcher of Pimms was delightful, and it's still hard to argue with the position of this patio... it's magical on a hot summer day. But that's where it ends (and why they're still getting 3 stars)
Service is so-so: You might be forgotten a little. You might have some of your drink spilled. You might get one extra napkin to clean up the whole spill.
And then there's the food. Sure, it's a primo spot, but the price you pay for a meal is far too dear for it's poor quality. I like that they are subscribing to the Ocean Wise program, but the mussels I ate were borderline edible. The sauce was pretty standard, although tasty, but the size and quantity of the mussels would make Nemo float belly up in shame.Listed in: Favourite Vancouver…, Places With Secret Spaces, Now That's A View!, Patio Season Comes to…, Vancouver Burgers

I have three words for you - Five dollar martinis. Actually it should be five words - Five dollar martinis on Mondays!
Went there with some buddies for drinks after work. My $5 martinis were not shy. I didn't go for some fancy drink masquerading as a martini mind you. Nope - Gin with a twist of lemon was all this girl needed.
We ordered a plate of nachos too. Very edible with some salsa and guac on the side. It's been a while since I've ordered nachos where the cheese was actually melted on to the chips and not the plate. That's got to take it from 3 stars to 4 non? Hmmm, maybe it's the 3 martinis talking.
Anyway, the previous reviews didn't leave me with high expectations but yar matey - what a view! The waitress was cute and nice. The martinis were strong and the nachos were cheesy. Kinda like my review...
Note to self, don't review while drunk. Yarrrr!!! -

Two stars for location and friendly staff. This is a great place to go for some beers with a great view of False Creek.
Food? Yeah, they serve it ... but I didn't find it all that good. I had fries and a fish burger ... and both came seasoned in the same 'orange' coloured seasoning that seemed to be on and in everything.
There was so much of the seasoning that everything tasted the same. My partner's fries came with some type of mayo dipping sauce which was also seasoned with the same 'orange' mix.
Wow, they really need to branch out beyond the one seasoning mix. It's not that good to begin with and when you use it on everything, it diminishes the effect.
Don't plan on going back, so many better places to drop my money. -

At $8.49 I thought that my Dark & Stormy (which featured 2oz of rum) was overpriced, but I went for it because I was being social & didn't want to pay the same for a glass of wine that wouldn't last as long. Those 2 ounces were certainly watered down, and I could barely detect the ginger outside of the tiny mince that was floating around and sticking to the sides of my glass. I was a bit put out when I went to pay and discovered that with tax my total for one overpriced drink was almost $11 (that's my own fault of course, still not used to the variances in tax here). I was even more turned off, however, when our server asked me how much change I would like instead of just bringing all of it.
It's really too bad as I wanted to like this pirate bar (in a hipster mocking fashion of course). There's really not much worth visiting along the seawall for a drink, you're always just paying for the view. The decor here is fantastic (if marred by the ubiquitous to Vancouver sports bar style plastering of TV screens), full of glass fishing lures and pirate wench paintings. The single bathrooms are spacious and feature hand dryers that actually *work*.
And the view, well, of course, as I said, you are paying for it - because you certainly aren't paying $4.99 for a tiny sad handful of fries like one of the people in our group did.
As a previous reviewer commented - I doubt this place will last the winter.Listed in: Vancouver Fail!

so dropped in with a bunch of people to enjoy some beverages and share food. The place gets 4 stars for location and service. However, the food aspect is so inadequate that it is hard to rate this place higher.
The nachos were unacceptable which is bad but what is worse is that they charge an arm and a leg for it.
The calamari was very poor in quality to. So basically we decided to skip the entrees.
I would go back for the beverages and vistas, but no food here on the agenda. -

I got the veggie burger here - and it was pretty good. However, they used too much seasoning on both the burger and its fries for any actual flavor in the food itself to come through. It was also a bit overpriced ($15 after tax) for the portion size. I know it's a pub, but I also would have appreciated the option to choose between fries and a salad.
The view was nice, and the decor was ok - but it's not really worth a return trip. -

We live a couple blocks away and have really enjoyed the halibut and chips on Sunday afternoons. The location and view are great and the staff have always been friendly and attentive (although to admit, we've only been here during slow times, so not sure how well they cope with crowds in the summer.) What a shock to find Halibut has been removed and only cod is available for Fish & Chips (which are too salty-- ask for little or no season salt when you order them.) Halibut was removed for the Olympics and hasn't returned. Where the Halibut was wonderful, firm and fresh, the Cod last night was tasteless and seemed frozen, not fresh. Haven't tried anything else and don't plan to return unless Halibut reappears or we can't resist the patio in the summer. For beer and view alone, the place rates 5 stars, but the Cod has got to go-- hence the mixed rating above.
08/02/2010: Halibut is back and as good as we remembered. Get it while you can! -

I went here after biking by on my way to work.
Gone is the old Fiddlehead Joe's and in it's place is a bar and grill with a pirate theme. I was fully expecting the servers to be dressed in pirate gear or least an eye patch but I had to settle for the regular restaurant attire of all black.
I went for my favourite Sunday activity: brunch. I must say I was disappointed by the limited selection but perhaps that made it easier. Less to choose from for a quicker decision. Service was quick and the food not overly greasy.
It didn't dawn on me until now that they forgot to give me the bacon my breakfast came with. I was distracted by the giant selling point of this place - the view. I don't mean just of the water but all the people strolling, biking or blading by.
I loved it! I could have sat there all day and ordered more food just to keep watching everyone and hanging out with my friends.
PS....The bathroom is amusing. The wall fixtures consisting of various mounted fish, paintings and nautical mirror are a great time killer. It's like a little museum in there while you are doing your business. -

We came here on a Friday evening with a Groupon. It's a nice spot by False Creek looking over to Granville Island serving typical bar grub.
I had mussels with white wine broth and fries and they are alright. However, considering the menu choices and the prices for what you would get, I'm not sure if I would return. -

I like going to this place for food and an occasianal drink, the staff has always been great! I always show up when they need to boot people off the patio :)

I have to agree with Jenn and Brett that the service was a bit nominal. It took some time trying to flag her down and all. And we even told her we were with Yelp! (well that shouldn't change anything, but we kind of were all wearing some form of yelp gear and she asked what Yelp was so we told).
Then I do also agree that the prices for food and drinks were quite high based on the portions. I couldn't believe when one in our group ordered just fries for $5 and got essentially a handful and a half of fries. Usually when you order fries, the dip you get runs out before the fries. This time it was opposite.
We ordered the cod fish and chips and the chicken pizza. The fish and chips were pretty good---not to oily and the fries were nicely seasoned. The creamy garlic chicken pizza was a bit bland though. Where was the garlic? They had run out of mussel, or else we would have gotten that.
However, if you want a nice pint by the beach, it's a really nice place with a gorgeous view. It didn't seem all that pirate-y to me to be called a "Pirate pub." But nonetheless, it was a great view on such a perfect day. -

I love the venue, steps from the water, amazing view, great patio and they make good fish and chips, the batter was light, cod uber fresh and their fries has a hint of cajun spice? Nice!
We stopped in yesterday for brunch and it was the perfect weather for patio as it did not feel like a broiler. I cannot wait to return for dinner cuz as far as patio with a view goes, it does not get better than this. -

I haven't been all too impressed in the two experiences that I've had here. As the other reviewers have said, the view and people-watching is right up there but the rest kind of falls flat.
Details? Sure. So they got the pirate thing goin' on which I can't begrudge too much but it does kinda seem like jumping on the fad-boat.-pirate Maybe that's just the cynic in me and people have ALWAYS loved pirates (Pirate Pack anyone?). Or maybe they could have pushed the concept further than filling up a quarter of their ENTIRE menu with forgettable $8 rum martinis.
The food? hmmmm...okay. I had fish and chips on my first visit and I found the fish part good, but definitely the portions were way too small. The second occasion I special ordered a BLT and they kinda screwed it up. Who makes a SINGLE LAYER BLT? I mean, c'mon. That's like day two of chef school, isn't it? Or do they even teach it since it is pretty much common knowledge? Anyways, not impressed.
Next time I'm looking for eats in the area I'm going to give this place a miss. -

$20 for a forgettable caesar salad and a pint of beer? That's way steep for the kind of atmosphere this place provides. Sure it has a great view but that's not enough to have you coming back. The area is very small and they only have one bathroom, not much about the place looked "pirate" except the waitresses revealing their huge flotation devices. If I owned the place, I would've had a little more fun with it, more costumes, friendlier service, pirate prices, and, oh yeah, better food.

Maybe it was the large group I was in, but the service was not exactly attentive. It took effort to catch our waitress' attention and we were in the middle of the bar! Plus the food was not that great, especially for the price. Basically the only thing this place has going for it is the location as it has a patio facing False Creek.

If it wasn't for the view and location, don't bother. We had brunch which was average at the most. Great company and the service was decent. If you're biking here, you need to park across from the restaurant.

I've been there twice and will not be going back. The first time was fine, we had a great server who was actually the only server on shift and the restaurant was very busy. She did a great job managing all of the tables while still providing warm, friendly service. The food was decent, definitly not worth the price but because of the service and location we went back about a week later. Big Mistake. It was a game night but there were about 3 servers plus what looked like 2 bussers plus the manager all on the floor. We were seated and had our orders taken quickly but thats the last we saw of the server. Another server brought out our food but we had no cutlery. The server said she'd be right back with some, but of course she never returned. We both ate our bugers completely before we could touch our salad. Still no cutlery for about ten minutes and it was as if our server was ignoring our side of the restaurant. We actaully had to get up and grab some cutlery ourselves. So dissappointing because this time the burgers were actually good! The server finally came back, not to quality check or ask if we wanted more beer, she just put the bill on the table and said "heeeere you go" as she walked away. honestly the worst service I've had in my life. The tables all around us made vocal complaints about the service. It was just so dissappointing because I really wanted to like this place!
