Review from Christine R.
New Westminster, BC
This is going to be a bit of a sad one. As it turned out after I wrote that last review, my dog had not a simple UTI, but full-blown cancer of the kidneys. The tests to find this out were not cheap, as they never are, but at least we were able to get a diagnosis quickly, and it was delivered with great sensitivity.
The vet was also very blunt in that surgery and/or chemotherapy would be very expensive, that the cancer was aggressive, and we would only be buying time for our sweet boy. However, they did not rush us into any decision, and they gave great tips for his palliative care (i.e., pain management).
Unfortunately, he did not last the weekend (we got the diagnosis on a Friday), but even though we had to take him to the emergency vet clinic to be put down that Sunday, the vet hospital sent us a lovely condolence card.
Fast forward and we have now adopted a beautiful new dog, and the vets and vet assistants continue to be excellent with both humans and pets alike. For example, I recently took her in for a follow-up visit about a seeming eye infection that didn't seem to be responding to the medication. The vet, Dr. Moevani, examined her, assured me that the eyes were healthy, that in his experience, some dogs just get discharges that need to be cleaned away - and sent me away without owing any fee for the visit, since there was really no treatment necessary.
And he was right. This is a good vet hospital with a great staff. They don't push unnecessary treatments and give good care for the money.Listed in: It's all about the dog

Review from Leslie G.

I have taken my cat to this vetrinary clinic for several years. The front staff have always been cocurteous and a pleasure to deal with. The veterinary services left something to be desired. I understand that tests are required to diagnose a medical issue, however trying to get me to sign an estimate for $800 worth of tests was not necessary. I requested the vet use the process of elimination and just start out with the basic tests then move forward with more testing if there were no conclusive results. It made me feel like they just wanted the money. On every visit I had, the vet was unprepared and making incorrect assumptions about my pet without even reading his chart. I was very distressed by this. Also, on several occasions, the vet had indicated that they would call me regarding an issue and has not bothered to follow up. For example the last time he suggested I change my cats food to a non-alergenic kind and I had to point out to him, as clearly he had not reviewed the chart, that I tried that several years ago at the previous vets request and my cat became more ill as he was already on a vet prescribed food for urinary issues. He promised to call me back after he spoke with a dietician. He did not bother calling me or even having one of his assistants call me. I am not impressed with the service I received over the years and have since changed vets.
