Burnaby Mountain Trail is Burnaby's version of Vancouver's Grouse Grind for less active crowd. You can easily walk it and not feel like you're about to pass out near the end.

I saw a deer, a coyote, and a rabbit in the first 10 minutes on the trail. Luckily, I didn't encounter any bears.

The view of Burrard Inlet and Port Moody is amazing!!!

Definitely glad I went here. I didn't go on the hikes so I can only attest to the area near the parking lot. The view is great on clear days. Very serene and a great place to be if you want to be alone or clear your thoughts. The totem poles give it more historic value. The flower garden give the place more color contrast to the trees and water. I wouldn't be surprised if people took engagement or wedding pictures here. There is a restaurant here but I don't know the hours. And an added perk: free parking. Not as great as the view from Cypress Mountain, but I would definitely come back again.

On my way to visit family I had a wacky thought, why not go for a little hike/walk. And I could think of no better place than here! Perhaps it was the fact that I was literally driving directly towards the mountain!

I parked on the gravel area just before Horizons Restaurant, and decided that it would be great to walk down and run back up the little trail that bends to the left.

A great little trail when you want a bit of exercise, some peace and quiet but don't want to have to travel too far. Round trip from trail start to finish was less than 30 minutes, but there's a much bigger network of trails along here, and when the mood strikes my stagnant toes, I'll be moving and shaking back up that mountain again!

It's a beautiful afternoon in Burnaby and I may be potato-couching but I decide to be indirectly active by reviewing this awesome trail.

If you are an advanced biker or avid hiker, you will love this trail. It starts off at the bottom of the hill at Ridgeview Drive and Dalla-Tina way (right behind the 7-11 http://www.google.ca/m...).

Most of the trail is uphill and will work those buns into ones of steel hi-yah! (Well, soft steel in my case.) It'll warm you up with the concrete walk way to the gravel covered path surrounded by the squirrel-infested forest, then you will reach Burnaby Mountain and you have the option of:

    1. Admiring the beautiful scenery overlooking Burrard Inlet
    2. Practicing your photography skills of the totem poles or Centennial Rose Garden
    3. Grabbing a bite at Horizons or unwrapping your picnic basket (latter is recommended)
    4. Continue hiking all the way up to Simon Fraser University

I believe I was coerced into option (4) because when I got to the end of the trail, I looked around and said to my mom "where the bleep are we?!" Nonetheless, this trial is always an enjoyable weekend event.

I came here again to try out the Ridgeview Trail and it's not bad at all. There was an obvious path of packed dirt, twigs and a few rocks but mainly a smooth hike that is a steady uphill climb and comes out to the Centennial Park area. I would rate this an easy hike for avid hikers but for the average person you might get out of breath but it's not strenuous at all. It's a short hike about 20 mins at a moderate pace.

I never went on the trail itself, or at least it never felt like I did. I came here with family and friends, just for a quick together out under open sky. We went up to the parking about half way to the top of Burnaby mountain. Just a short walk away from the parking lot, there is a nice view of the Burrard Inlet. The area isn't flat, but is big enough to play a casual game of football or something. There is a restaurant near the parking spot. There is children playground not far from where you park. Overall, a nice play to visit with family or kids.

I love this trail.  Easy to get to by bus or car.  My dog and friends always enjoy it.  There are lots of options for short or long hikes.  The view is always great and the air is fresh.  Sometimes you are above the clouds while it is raining in the Lower Mainland.  Easy to follow trails and if you get into trouble, you are never more than a few hundred meters from the university or restaurant.  Watch out for the trail bike riders or dirt bikers.
