I wanted to provide an update now that I have taken 5-6 classes here. It is still great! With just 1x per week, I am noticing a difference in my leg strength and I think there might just be some fat missing from my calves.
The people that spin there and the instructors are still super friendly, and I'm learning to adjust the bike more quickly and accurately. I've done classes on almost all of the bikes in the 2nd row now, and they all seem fine once you learn how to adjust them.
I also would like to point those looking for information/reviews on The Burn Studio to the "filtered" reviews that can be found by clicking on the "filtered" link at the bottom of the page. I think Yelp's auto filter is way off here, because The Burn really is THAT good.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Beware.
If you are looking for a place that strives to create a member-friendly environment, look elsewhere.
Cindy, the owner, is a real piece of work. If you do not cancel your session 2 hours before class time, she will charge you an extra $15 penalty on top of the price you already paid.
I drew the line with this studio after a recent Cindy moment. I recently purchased a block of sessions which could be used within a month. During the last two weeks of my block, I was extremely sick and I could not attend class. I emailed Cindy to let her know of my condition and asked if I could be allowed to finish my classes once I get better. Here response was that there were "no extensions under any circumstances."
The place smells like asparagus-urine. Parking Sucks.
Eddie Crespo is a great instructor. That's the one positive remark I can give. -

I used to LOVE the burn. If it wasn't for Eddie, the instructor on Monday nights, Wednesday nights and Saturday mornings, I would never step foot into this studio. As great as Eddie is, the condition of the studio is disappointing.
Where should I start? Some bikes are in questionable condition and all the ones (in front row) that are in decent shape are taken by the "regulars" that ride back-to-back classes and save their bikes. It's not fair for everyone to pay the same amount per class and only a handful get good working bikes. The other night, the gears were so bad on my bike, I was forced to get on a different one.
Since the lights in the studio are usually off, I feel that upper management thinks that they can get away with not cleaning the place. Anyone brave enough to look up, will notice the 2 inches of dust that has settled overhead, all of which gets blown into the air that we breath when the A/C is turned on mid workout. I really wish they would clean this place on a more regular basis (with the lights on!), we all deserve a clean riding environment.1 Previous Review: Show all »

I wanted to try a spinning class, and what better way to try one than to go to Burn Studio right??
It looks like everyone who reviewed this place absolutely loves it and the "friendly" atmosphere. Hmmm.......maybe EVERYONE had an off day on the exact same day I went.
I called and no one answered. Many times. You are given your first class free but have to call ahead to reserve your spot. Cool, I can do that. Still no answer. I then follow the instructions on the voice mail message that says, if we don't answer "just come right in".
As I'm heading to the class I get a call back, and was told to come in.
Well to make a long story short, the class happened to be full, they told me to go in there anyway and they would make it work. I had no instructions of what I was to do when I went in there.
Oh, I have to grab sanitizer to sanitize my bike?
Oh I have to add on clips because I don't have spin shoes?
Oh I now have to get off my bike because you aren't going to make it work you were wrong no one canceled and now they are here and I'm taking their spot?
Oh Great!!!! Just the way I love to be treated.
I guess it's normal to treat potential customers this way, this is how you really get them to come back again.
Here is a tip:
Let your new customers know what to expect and what they have to do before sending them in the room.
Oh yeah and how about answering your phone, that would be fantastic. -

I have been coming to The Burn since the end of October 2008 and I haven't left! This place raises the bar and the classes are intense. This isn't your local gym sort of spin class, it's a full blown core centered work out!
It might be intimidating the first time, but after you get over the hump (and I remember it took me about one month to get over it) it just gets easier and easier. Or maybe it just gets more challenging. I learned early on that you are your own ride and you call the shots.
For those who are new to spinning and don't have cycling shoes, can start with special 'cages' that attach to the bikes; but spinning shoes definitely make the ride easier and sexier. I remember waiting for about three months to make sure that I was really going to continue with this and finally bought shoes (and I'm thankful I did!). The Burn also has a few pairs of shoes in a couple of sizes (for people to try), so I suggest asking to see if they have your size and give them a try.
The classes fit about 25 - 30 students, and it's stadium seating so you can't hide behind anyone else. But don't worry everyone who goes to the Burn are all completely friendly, everyone makes you feel at home and always brings such positive energy. In addition each teacher has their own unique teaching style and flair which means none of the classes are the same. The classes are unfortunately limited, but with decent planning it's not hard to get into the class. In addition I really enjoy the fact that I can reserve/cancel a spot for my class online.
Classes are offered through out the year, generally there are morning classes MWF (at 6am), and evening classes between the hours of 5pm - 7pm. The summers at the Burn can make it feel like Bikram Spinning but I just make sure to keep hydrated. The prices can be a bit steep compared to a gym, but to be honest taking spin classes here are nothing compared to spin classes at the local gym. Plus at least I know my money is going towards a local business full of wonderful people, positive energy, talented instructors and amazing classes. -

Looking for a 5am or 515am class in Burbank it's so hard, maybe I'll buy a bike and do it myself!

The studio is awesome.
The sound system ROCKS.
The layout is great (stadium seating so you don't have your face in someone's butt or vice versa).
Terry and Eddie are excellent.
I miss Spencer, Katie, and Mike.
Spencer's class was my favorite.
It's just not the same.
But I would still recommend this place.
Major plus: Very nice clientelle. -

Bought a pack of 12 classes. Wish they had a water bubbler there, and they don't turn on the AC as much as they should while working out. Would also like a change of music, but overall, if you like spin, this is a great place to go.

this place is awesome!
I went for the first time this past weekend, and it was tough! in a good way. I went there to get my butt kicked, and that's what I got. You will burn, and you will sweat. Great atmosphere, friendly staff.
I love that the prices are reasonable, with flexible options. You don't have to sign a contract, first class is free if you contact them online. You can even set up your classes online. I couldn't say enough good things about this place. -

I've been going to this studio for 1.5 years and it's like a religion to me. I'm a devout follower of the spin instructors at this place - Eddie & Terry. They keep things intense and fun. They also help out all the newbies so don't be intimidated. They're there to make you look good so embrace it. There's a sign in the studio that says, "Enter as strangers, but leave as friends." Which is true... I have met many great regulars at this studio that it feels like family.

Review from Clara K.
having never done indoor cycling aka "spinning" before, my friend and i were understandably a bit intimidated before our first class, but it turns out we needn't have worried -- the instructor helped us set up our bikes and gave us tips on form and technique, and our fellow classmates were super nice to the n00bs as well.
after our first free class, we were hooked! we ended up taking advantage of the january special, 12 classes for the price of 10.
warning: you WILL be sore all over (and especially down there, lol) after the first couple of classes, but it really does get better after that! i highly recommend using a gel seat in the beginning; they have them behind the front desk to borrow (unfortunately we didn't find out about this until AFTER our first class). oh and be careful when you get off the bikes after that first time; you will most likely have legs of jelly and going down the steps will be quite hazardous.
as a final note, i love how you can schedule classes online. very handy! -

I always hated indoor cycling. But this place blew me away.Terry is gonna WORK YOU. Sweat wouldn't stop dripping off my chin. It's a fun safe place to really go all out. Good music (personalized by the instructor) and good atmosphere (reminds me of clubbing!). Terry totally inspired me...cuz he just looks so hot and I wanna be hot too!

its now May 2010 and Im still a BURN hard core fan. We have a core group that spins MWF at 6:00 am with Shannon (who by the way totally ROCKS!!). She is good without over doing it. The class recently had exploded and today, it was almost full to capacity so I suggest booking on line to make sure you have a bike. I am staying in my weight (gained a little bit but also toned my gluts, butts, and now have "popeye muscles" on my calves). This place keeps me healthy. Its like a family here, you get to know people, and everyone is really nice.

I really liked this place. First of all the employees were really nice. One of the teachers helped set up the bike for me. I didn't have those biking shoes, so they gave me cages that attach to the pedals of the bike so I can pedal with my regular shoes. It's a club like feeling meaning the lights are dim and the music is loud. You get lost in the music and you don't feel self conscious at all. Also, the people that take the class are really friendly too. The lady next to me said that the class is great, cause you don't feel like you're working out during the session, but afterwards, you really feel like you worked out hard. It was true! The place is pretty clean. Another plus, is that you get your first class free which is great! I definitely recommend.

I used to take spin class at a very fancy gym in W. Hollywood that I worked at (I took class for free since there was no way I could afford to pay for class - it was geared toward a richer clientele). After witnessing far too many people fighting over which bike was theirs and hearing too many catty remarks about people who "have no rhythm on the bike" I got turned off to the whole spin scene. A few months ago, my wife started nagging me about finding a place to spin again and after stalling for as long as I could, I let her drag me to The Burn. And I couldn't be happier. I felt welcome and was immediately put at ease by the warmth of the staff. The instructors are very friendly and helpful, there is a very down-to-earth vibe and I have yet to witness a fight over a bike. In addition, the prices are extremely reasonable. And on top of that, you get a great workout. There are very few things I will get up at 5:30am for but The Burn is one of them (maybe the only one).
