I generally love BK. In the states, in a great way of getting a decent burger for a buck. Being a Quebecer, I was thrilled to get a chance to visit Canada and hoped for finding a decent poutine. Unfortunately, BK's poutine is just as I remember it: poor fries, a suspiciously orange gravy over thawed cheese curds. Passable, but doesn't quite fill the void. I'd recommend BK regardless of the location, but stay away from the poutine.

The prices are higher at this BK than others because it is a tourist location. 3 of us had Whopper jr combo with one poutine, and total came out to $28. I guess we should have tried a different restaurant around the area with the same amount of money.

There aren't very many Burger Kings left in Toronto, save for those found at extortionately priced food courts attached to movie theaters.

So, when we were trying to decide what to have for a late dinner on Clifton Hill, I had opted for a Whopper combo.  I hadn't had one in years, and felt like it was a good time to revisit this fast food chain.

    I kinda wish I hadn't.

The prices were inflated as much as you'd find at a theatre location, but I'm not sure how much that had to do with BK and perhaps more to do with NF taxes in touristy locations.

The eating area seemed clean, but it was riddled with flies.  It was rather disgusting how much we had to swat at these flying critters with one hand and hold onto dinner with the other.

The employees clearly wished they were elsewhere.  With one family in front of us, and three employees behind the counter (not counting the cooking staff) it took nearly twenty minutes to get our orders taken (my husband had asked numerous times, "Why don't we just leave?", but I was too tired to move on elsewhere.)

And by the time I got to my Whopper, I had half an onion encased between the two buns and burger.  I know I'm supposed to eat my vegetables, but that was a bit much.

Perhaps we were too tired, but the establishment's door made us all laugh quite a bit while we were leaving (and evoking promises from everyone in the group to never step foot in there again); apparently, they charge $1 to use their washroom if you're not a customer.  I have no idea what the washroom looks like; if I was of right mind at that point, I probably would have walked in to check out what I'd be spending a hard earned buck on.
