The burger is heavenly. The decor is not.  Given the prices, I hope they do not upgrade the decor.  If they did, I'm afraid they would have to raise their prices.

The advantage to having a good burger joint so far away from home is that it is so far away from home. It means I cannot go there as regularly as I would like, which makes each and every trip to Burger Heaven, well, a trip to heaven.

My first angelic Burger experience was the Works Burger.  Cheddar, Mozzarella, Mushrooms Bacon and Dill Pickles.  A mistake and here's the sole reason why:  the bottom bun was soggy, probably from the mushrooms.  That is the only negative thing I can say about the burger.

The patty is a good size - circumference-wise - and also is just thick enough to give you that feeling that you are eating a hamburger and not a couple of pieces of bread with some meat in it .  It smells and tastes as if it is freshly made.  The burger has a nice collection of aromatic spices with which it whets the appetite and adds to the taste of the burger.

Caveat: next time I will order the salad.  I had the yam wedges.  They felt and tasted like the yams I make at home in my microwave.  When i go to a burger joint, I want my wedges/fries to be crispy.

Service was ok.  No one came to offer refills of water.

For any carnivores out there, take a trip to Burger Heaven.

If you're a burger afficianado, then you may truly think you've died and gone to heaven when you eat here.

A few years ago, I did a survey on Facebook about the best burger joints in the Vancouver area. A friend suggested this one. I owe him big-time for the recommendation.

Around B.C.'s Lower Mainland, there are a handful of places to get decent burgers, but for me, hands-down, the best burgers in Lotusland are to be found at Burger Heaven in New Westminster.

I've been sampling their burgers there since the spring of 2010, and I have never been disappointed. Just recently had their "Greek God Burger" which comes with feta cheese, black olives, tomato and onion. Yum!

The burgers are hand-made, of course.

In addition to great burgers, BH also offers awesome onion rings. In terms of beverages, they have a cool daily offering called "Just Gimme a Damn Beer" - you never really know what brand of cold draft you'll get on a given day, but again, I've never been disappointed.

If beer is not your thing, try one of their spiked milkshakes: a Bailey's shake, a B-52 shake ... the list goes on.

Finally, another good burger place to add to my burger list! And if not for the grumpy waitress, it might even be a five by Canada's standards, at least.

All of the burgers are huge and tasty. There is even a double-deckered grilled cheese burger that should not be ordered by the intestinally weak; even my foodie companion remarked, "Wow, I thought you could only find something like THAT on the 3Ds." He was proven wrong, at least.

The place was packed on a Sat. With only one waitress, she did a fine job, even if she wanted us to sit by the door. Why she was annoyed when we sat just slightly away from the door--I'll never know. (No one was ever seated there).

The rings were awesome, the salad was fine, and the potato wedges were inhaled. I personally prefer fries, but I was happy with my rings which were fried to perfection and not crumbly in the way that places like A and W have been known to disappoint.

I WAS slightly disappointed that they were out of any ice cream for shakes, (like a bailey's/mint bailey's)  but I was probably better off with my beer. I suspect that the waitress was just too busy or grumpy to make them!

The burger was so good that I really had to eat the whole thing, which I only slightly regretted later.

Still, for a hearty, huge, delicious burger meal, leave the city and give it a go! And to the veggies: the veggie burger was meant to be good, too. Next time, I might even save my arteries just a bit and order one of those.

For beef burgers: this is still a winner in BC.
    I remember this place w a y back when...
We tried it again a few weeks ago.
I freaked out when I looked inside. The interior is a trip: walls covered in stuff. No shame with the decor. Helen Reddy on the soundtrack!
I suggested we eat outside on the (ahem) patio.
Friend suggested asking for half sauce ( on the beef / barbeque / cheese...? beef burger) and requesting fries/salad (half n half) for the sides. Brilliant. I did the same. (and the spuds taste better than the yam fires).
Great food, good service, cheap glasses of wine.
    A Royal City legend.

Burger Heaven was the gourmet burger joint that, I would argue, started the trend.  I've been going here for years!  I'm surprised I'm not in one of the pictures on the walls or tables.  I remember going here as a kid.  The burgers were bigger than my head; now, my head has finally grown into them.

I love how the patties are handmade and that I can get half fries and half potato wedges.  I sometimes like to dip my fresh-cut wedgies into my leftover salad dressing (try it!).  The best part, hold onto your hats, they serve grape soda! Pop pop!  Yes, grape soda.  When I found out, I almost did a back flip!

Go and have a mushroom mozza teriyaki burger with a bottomless grape soda.  You can thank me later (if you really wanna thank me, take me with you on your next visit ;) )

The name is TRUE! This place is Burger Heaven!

Been here twice and both times have been amazing!

This small, almost hidden place in New West is truly a hidden gem.
In this restaurant are pictures from this family owner establishments past all other the walls, so cool!  The menu shows classic burgers with cheese and bacon, to the fancy such as the thai burger which has a peanut sauce in it! Amazing!

I highly recommend the milkshakes, they are delicious, but just beware because you may fill up on the shake alone.
The burger themselves are stuffed with ingredients and you can tell the meat is not a frozen patty or anything like that.  Best burger in the GVRD and a must try!

You get a lot of food, flavour, great service, it is a little pricey, but you really get what you pay for.

It is a guaranteed food coma after this joint, it is just that good!

Service was ok. Room looked a bit worn. I know, it's just a burger joint. First impression as I had my first taste of the BBQ bacon burger was that the pattie which to me would be THE most important part of the burger was dry and quite flavorless. A huuuuge disappointment. To also pay almost 12 and a 1/2 dollars was a joke. The saving grace was the Strawberry milkshake.

    Burger Heaven!
What can I say, I love this place! The food never fails to disappoint.
They've got a varied selection of burgers to choose from, You can create your own. They serve home cut potato wedges instead of the usual skinny fries that you find at most burger places.
If you're feeling adventurous they've got Kangaroo and Emu burgers too!
The service is generally pretty good, The place has tons of history its been around for awhile. They've got photos everywhere of past and current customers.
When I'm in New West this is one of the few places I will bother eating at.
I highly recommend Burger Heaven to anyone that's a big fan of GOOD burgers!

Oh. My. God.  Where do I start?  Burger Heaven lives up to it's name.  Don't come here for a light lunch though - these burgers are HUGE and they don't skimp on the awesome toppings.  The service is always good, the atmosphere is fun (it's a dive for sure, but it seems like a burger place should be), it has wonderful, covered outdoor seating and like I said - the burgers are to die for.

Try the kangaroo burger.  You're probably a bit wary of kangaroo meat.  Maybe it's too gamey, maybe it's too tough.  It's neither of those things and it's worth the premium price.  You will NEVER taste anything like it anywhere else.  Lean and full of intense, meaty flavour.  And it comes with a fried egg and beet pickles.  Oh. My. God.

If you want something a little more mainstream, the teriyaki mozza burger is my favourite of the non-kangaroo burgers.  Oh. My. God.

This place is worth coming to New West for.

Oh and the milkshakes!  Try the milkshakes - they are White Spot contenders.

I was cleaning out my wallet just now and found a receipt from an April 2011 visit. I've been to Burger Heaven twice as a pit stop for a place to grab something to eat while driving to and from Vancouver. Once in 2011 and another time in 2010.

    Great burgers!

It's a small place with parking that reflects how small this place is, and well, if you like burgers this is the place to go!

Off the top of my head, it probably could seat about 25 people snugly, but the most that I've ever seen in there was probably about 10 people or so.

The walls are plastered in pictures of what looks like photos from visitors from the early 80s/late 90s, I figure this from the patterned sweaters the men are wearing and little bit bigger than normal hair sitting on women's heads.

Servers were friendly and food is delivered fresh and fast. I can't remember exactly what burger I had, but I do remember how big they are and how filling the meal is. I would order a burger with fries.

They have exotic burgers available, so think kangaroo, lamb, any other kind of meat you may not normally eat. Great place to stop by to try something new and filling. Since I'm not vegetarian, don't remember much if they have a vegetarian selection.

In terms of price, the receipt I found was $46.00 for two people and I assume we both purchased exotic burgers with drinks and fries, so think about $20.00 per person or so per order.

Two bathrooms on site, small and one stallers. Don't bother dressing up to go to this place, it's a dive.

Would I come here again? For sure! Wish there was one close by to me.

So after living in New West for almost four months now, and having a neighbour from hell that keep me awake on work night, I was too tired to cook last night, so DH and I popped over to Burger Heaven to see what all the fuss was about.

The fuss was about the fact that, quite frankly, they are the best burgers Dh has had in Canada and the best "meatless" burger I've had in my entire life. Do not take the latter lightly. Not only am I not a vegetarian, but I happen to have a favourite Black Bean Burger that has reigned surpreme in this category for over 10 years!

Whenever I see an interesting veg alternative at a burger joint, I'm intrigued. And by "interesting" I mean hand crafted, not processed. And that, my friends, is exactly what I got here. I can't even recall everything that was in my meatless wonder. Bulgar, rice, mushrooms, light mozzarella... seasonings. Anyway, I topped that puppy with bacon, blue cheese, and caramelized onions. I bet that gave the chefs in the back a raised brow or two - bacon and a meatless burger?  Anyway, the burger was nothing short of FANTASTIC. So for all you bacon-and-meat-eating-veggie-burger-eaters out there? Give it a shot. I promise, you will NOT be disappointed.

FWIW: DH made his own too - Swiss, Mushrooms, and Bacon on the standard gigantic burger. He said it was juicy and delicious if a little heavy.

ONE FLAW? Little pricey. 3 beers and 2 burgers = 50 bucks+tip. Wont be an every day trip but definitely will go back. Oh! and I Love the atmosphere too (but the food came first!)

They claim to have the best burgers in town, but that just goes to show you shouldn't believe everything you hear.

    The Good:

-The food is freshly made, nothing seemed to be pre-made or frozen out of a box
    -Fantastic milkshakes
    -Unique and fun atmosphere

    The Bad:
    -Food service is slow
-It's expensive ($60+ for lunch for 3 people)
-The chicken breast burgers, while cooked well lack any real flavour.

I don't think this place is going to be somewhere I'll be going back any time soon.

This place is a little out of the way for me since I don't live in New West, so this will jade my review somewhat.

    Was it good?  Yup

    Was it great?  Nope

In perspective, this is just a burger joint.  Nothing fancy, and it serves a purpose.  Feeds a hunger.  I have moderate expectations for establishments like this.

If there was any beef (no pun intended) against this place, it would be that it is a bit more pricey, not by much, than other similar burger joints.

Would I come again?  Only if I was hungry and was in the neighborhood.

I remember coming here when i was in highschool, which was 15 years ago. all i remember about the food was that the burger that i ordered was huge! i don't recall the taste or the presentation. Now lets fast forward to the near present. About two years ago, I decided to try this place out again.... and  wow this place was a lot smaller then the last time., same decor i see. and looks like the same servers too... hmm..  First, they sat us right by the washrooms, and it wasn't even busy!! the floors were sticky, the table was still dirty and the service was really slow it took forever just to get water.... REALLY!?

Then when our slow-ass server finally came and saw us,  i proceeded to order one of their "Best In Town" burgers... *errrr* ya right! The taste was wack! nothing special at all!, anyone could have made this damn burger. Dry patty?- yup, over toasted bun?- yup., and what the hell was in that sauce? mayo? just mayo??  pretty much your typical boring burger, absolutly no love at all!... just sayin.... And clearly not the "Best Burger in Town"! Comon really?  Im not trying to be an asshole. Im just being honest here!... don't cry!

This place was an instant 'top-of-my-best-burgers-list' hit.
It bumped a few other contenders out. I was blown away.

Lets start with the look of the place - the only reason this place is still in business is the amazing burgers, it looks like it's a time-warp, the place is trapped in the 80's and seems to have no concept of the advancements in fashion and photography. All the tables are covered with photos of happy patrons, mullets and tube socks present and accounted for.

We sat down and started scrutinizing over people's outfits, and the one head that had been burned off the photo nearest to me.

Just as we were placing our order one of the server's was wiping the tables down. We thought it was a little strange when he came over, took the menu right out of my hand and began to wipe it mechanically, but when the other server called to him we realised he was mentally disabled, which made his erratic behaviour and random screams a little more understandable - we were endeared.

The burgers came out without pomp or circumstance, but seeing those massive architectural feats resting on a bed of potato wedges was a thing of beauty. I sunk my teeth into a juicy tender burger and was more than happy to shut the rest of the world out and have a moment of solitute with my new best friend.

I couldn't finish it. Seriously, for me to back away from a burger is practically unheard of, but it was THAT big. It was big, and it was glorious.

I definitely like the hole-in-the-wall feel of this place, but the burger is what caught me - hook, line and sinker.

I wish I could thank Yelp for this one... but Grandpa (of former review note http://www.yelp.ca/biz... ) demanded Burger Heaven a couple of weeks ago so the next family outting was here.

I like the restaurant. Quirky, kitchy, hole in the wally. And the toliets (oops, bathrooms) were impeccably clean which is always noted when I must visit the loo.

Our server was fantastic. Funny, chatty, etc. Grandpa was amused and this was the important thing. The visit for him was nostalgic as he used to bring my Nana here. Which made me nostalgic. And it made me miss my Nana.

Now thank GOD I had my burger to comfort me. And potato wedges. And in the name of health I added the cheese and [bacon] bits. Okay, maybe the cheese and bits wasn't necessary because after having my hamburger patty (since they don't have gluten free buns), I hardly touched my chips. My brother in law helped me as he was giving them the lust eyes the whole time, but he hardly dented them either.

So next time, I will either bring a bun for my burger (ah the life of a gluten bigot), or I will just go for the wedges with cheese and bits. I will definately be back!

To claim to have the "best burgers in town" right on the door gives a restaurant a lot to live up to. (Kind of like taglining your province, "The Best Place on Earth.") Burger Heaven manages to deliver one tasty burger and a fine milkshake to go with it, although I'm not sure that it's head and shoulders above places like Vera's.

The atmosphere is unique - a mixture of booths, lattice, a heckuvalot of potted plants, and collages of pictures everywhere of customers enjoying their burgers. They also have a patio that in summer has  vines twining around the wrought iron enclosure, but it now looks a bit creepy in the dead of November. In the hallway outside the tiny washrooms - painted red, with more plants - there was a cartoonish mural of the very restaurant I'd just left behind, plus a groovy old Rainier beer ad.

As might be expected, Burger Heaven does serve some amazing and unusual concoctions forged out of meat, bun, and toppings, including the Ernie's Mile High - eight patties plus cheeses, mushrooms and bacon. I don't know how you even eat that, logistically speaking; I have enough trouble delivering one patty to my mouth without making a mess. Very much like pizza, you can choose from one of their combos, from classic cheddar cheese and bacon to Greek or Hawaiian, or build your own burger out of a chicken, beef or veggie patty and whatever toppings your clogged arteries heart desires.

I went with a little Mexican on my burger with some salsa, guac, and jack cheese. It was served with a pile of homemade wedge fries. When I couldn't finish them all, I was heartened to see a cardboard takeout container - no styrofoam! Yay! It really is heaven.

The thing is - the food is good.  Prices are average.  It was the service that brought this place down.

A rude waitress is never something you can appreciate. - PS when we buy a $8 milk shake, we are going to expect water with it too.  That's a lot of thick milky goodness to handle without some hydration.

Worth the drive to New West!

We trekked down last night and arrived 15 minutes before they closed, and the waitress told us takeout only -- that's fine, we were cutting it close. We picked our burgers (the works for me and two others, the swiss, mozzarella and pickle for our friend) and while we were waiting the waitress offered us free pop. How nice!

Shortly after that, our burgers arrived, and the waitress gave us even more free pop to go. We ended up sitting across the street on the curb eating (classy, I know) but man, that burger was awesome enough to make me forget I was sitting on the street.  Best burger I've had in the GVRD. The potato wedges were great too.

Bonus points to Burger Heaven for tossing vinegar packets in our takeout bags along with our salt, pepper, and ketchup.

I went with a friend after he helped me fill his truck with a bunch of stuff from home and dropped it off at the recycling depot! As a reward, we headed to New West and I bought him lunch at Burger Heaven; I have heard so much about this place for years (really!) and it was time to try it out (finally!).

I ordered the Hawaiian Burger (beef patty, thin slice of ham, pineapple ring, mozzarella cheese, teriyaki sauce, lettuce, tomato, onion and whole wheat bun) with Yam Fries (plus a side of chitpole mayo for dipping. My friend had the daily special (it varies by day) plus salad and regular fries. Our beverage choices are green tea and bottomless root beer, respectively.

Never in my life had I was completely absorbed into the burger eating experience. I held the burger with both my small hands it was so overwhelming. The burger was HUGE! From the first bite to the last (and I ate the WHOLE THING!), the burger eating experience was to die for! The flavors of the beef, sauce, cheese, tomato and pineapple all went well together and mixed textures (from the soft bun to the crispy lettuce) made it fun. It was a bit messy as sauce dripped down to my plate but still manageable; I had to wash my hands after the burger. It was GOOD and Burger Heaven make their own patties!

The yam fries (which were actually wedges) were fantastic. Just like fries only sweeter and healthier (yams are rich in beta carotene and Vitamin A) and the dipping sauce added a nice flavorful salty spicy contrast.

My friend enjoyed his burger and root beer. He was a big guy and even he found his burger experience overwhelming.

We both left with full tummies (and we were both hungry when we arrived) that lasted until the next day (remember, we went for lunch).

Burger Heaven has a great history (more than 20 years) behind them and has a reputation for good service and good food. I'm glad I tried it and I highly recommend it!

A pretty damned good burger joint - just wished it was cheaper.

Came here with a buddy that loves burgers and we thought it was about time we checked out what the fuss was about.  The restaurant is littered with photos of clienteles enjoying burger in the 80s/early 90s - we kept ourselves amused while waiting for our order by comparing the photos to the current state of the restaurant .  Lo and behold, nearly nothing has changed.  Not that there's anything wrong with that, in fact, it gives the restaurants an authentic charm.

The cool bit is that it offers a 2.5 lbs burger (8 patties) for $30 - if they were to shoot a 'Man vs. Food' episode on Vancouver, I think this spot would be a likely candidate to be featured.  Most of the burgers range from about $10 - $20 depending on your level of gluttony, but most of choices fall between $12 - $13.   And there is an option to customize your burger with an extensive toppings menu - in fact, it nearly gives you too much choice; 'Have it your way' taken to the extreme.

I had the Chicken Cordon Bleu Burger and my buddy had the BBQ Cheddar & Bacon Burger.  He was pretty impressed and so was I - my chicken filet was fried to golden perfection and was so tender and moist.  The pairing of the mozzarella and ham were a well-executed compliment.  Quite possibly, one of the best chicken burgers I've ever had.

Food-wise, the only thing I wasn't a big fan of was the potato wedges - tasted pretty bland (lack of seasoning) and thicker-cut that I liked.  However, it is way better than the mushy bottomless 'steak fries' shit you get from Red Robin's.

While the burgers were excellent, I would give it 3.5/5 stars as I felt it was pretty pricey for a hamburger joint.  I enjoy a good hamburger, but maybe I didn't appreciate the levels of quality over somewhere like a Red Robin's.  So, I rounded down to 3 stars due to value - as I'm not used to paying more than $10 for a burger.  To be honest, I was more interested in the Fish & Chips the table next to us ordered - seemed like a monstrous portion for $12 - knowing it was a group of mechanics from a garage nearby, it seem like the 'secret' item that people in the know order.

However, it seems like a must-hit for any burger fans as my buddy was quite pleased.  It's a damned fine burger joint - I guess quality does come at a price.

    Another visit, another 3star experience.

Busy place, lotsa choice, can be a bit pricey.

Daughter tried the fish and chips this time.  Batter was an interesting combination of a traditional beer batter and a seasoned fish fry.  Not the greatest.  Came with wedge fries and a salad.  Generous serving.

I had the chicken marinara burger.  Large, Fried chicken breast slathered in sauce, topped with cheese and slapped on a bun with sauce, lettuce and tomato.  What is the expression about breasts?....more than a mouthful?... more than a handful?...
Well I was seriously expecting a lapful of this monster, but it was fairly neat eating.

    Service was average.

This place is definitely one of the best burger places I've been to in the GVRD.  Wayyyyy better than Vera's Burgers.   I had the Works Burger with a side salad.  The works comes with everything you can think of being good on a burger!  It was too much for me to eat in one sitting, but the leftover half was still good the next day! I wouldn't go boasting it's a gourmet burger or anything, but it was pretty damn tasty.  The salad was really good too.  Didn't leave a speck of it on the plate!

The nice thing about Burger Heaven is that it has a sense of community and history, which is apparent by the millions of photos all over the place.  They also have wild meat burgers, if you're adventurous, like kangaroo, bison, etc.

Damn good burgers.  Service is not hot.  Waited quite a while (20mins) for my takeout order and was not offered any water to drink or given an update on my order.  I'll give them another chance...

Funky little dive-type place with tasty, monsterous-sized burgers and fantastic fries!

My family has been going to Burger Heaven for around 20 years now. Their burgers are so very good and there are so many choices of toppings and types of meat. I like any of the ones with a combo of cheese/bacon/mushrooms. My dad likes the teriyaki ones. I even like that they have quite a wide range of pop (you don't see grape soda on many menus). The restaurant is pretty cramped and  the decor hasn't been updated in at least a decade, but that's okay, it's part of its charm. I think it's a hoot that they have their election burgers (one designed to match each party) and try to predict the winner based on which burger is the most popular.

They've been doing it right for a long time and I'm glad they're still around! (And now I'm craving one of their burgers....)

I believe Burger Heaven has to have one of the best burgers in the Lower Mainland. I tried the lamb burger last night. IT was delicious.

Great burgers. A lot of choice, perhaps too much choice, because there are a lot of burger clichés here (they should try to distinguish themselves more fully as a gourmet burger joint). A little overpriced, by a couple bucks per burger.

The burgers are ok but they are overpriced.  I like the atmosphere and the little patio is nice in the summer but I don't always get the best service there.

I used to live in New West and would walk past Burger Heaven every day. After a year I finally decided to try it, but was pretty disappointed. For the price you pay, the taste is nothing great. Pretty bland actually.

fun place to go eat but quite expensive.  1 veggie, 1 specialty burger with sodas was $50.  not quite the affordable lunch option.  everything was extra and i think o rings were like $4 extra.  i'll go back to crush off he challenge burger
