B's Diner serves high quality, well prepared diner food. They make their own perogies and use real potatoes for hash browns and fries. They use a delicious, thickly cut and fairly dense wheat bread for sandwiches and toast.
I greatly enjoyed my breakfast - spicy bison sausage (inferno), fried with onions, served with two poached eggs, toast and hash browns. The hash browns were not as brown as I generally like, but I figure I can ask for them well done next time.
And for vegetarians, like Sarah (my wife), there's an entire vegetarian section of the menu. You can also put together your own Eggs Benedict concoction.
For vegans, they serve a Tofu Scramble.
There are a number of Eastern European and Asian accents on the menu due to the ethnicities of the owners.
There's some great local art on the walls, which I believe is for sale. Otherwise, the decor is minimalistic, but pleasant. I imagine that eating here will be nice in the summertime, when we can take advantage of a sizable patio.
One caveat with B's is that they only accept cash as payment - they don't even accept Interac. There's a cash machine in the back of the restaurant if you haven't brought any, but you'll be charged $2 plus whatever your bank may charge.
No matter what, the prices are reasonable considering both the quality and the cost of the food you are ordering. -

Went in not knowing what to expect and ordered up a tofu stirfry breakfast. The coffee although endless was not very good as other people have pointed out. The service was great and freindly, however the breakfast although with good portions was a little bland. Over all a OK breakfast in a good place, we might be back next time in town, but we are more likely to try another place.

B's Diner is deep Edmonton. It's a breakfast diner, soup kitchen for the poor, and it's own life form with possibly one of the most fascinating cast of employees. Need cream for your coffee? Get it yourself from the cooler, just like you would in your Baba's kitchen.
I love B's and will support it with every drop of my pure Edmontonian blood. -

I attended a function this evening that B's Diner catered. B's Diner is involved in a lot of work with charities and non-profits, especially providing meals for the homeless. This spirit of giving comes from the tragic loss experienced by the diner's owners when their son died earlier this year.
This event was a turkey dinner for several non-profit groups and included the turkey (already carved), gravy, mashed potatoes, stuffing, vegetables, cranberry sauce, perogies (with fried onions), salad, and buns. Dessert included muffins, cookies, rice squares, puffed wheat squares, and a very large black forest cake (which happens to be my favourite).
Although I have no yet had the pleasure of dining at the actual restaurant, it is on my life. Any place committed to helping the less fortunate deserves to be supported. -

Bob has moved to the strip mall next door. A much better space with outdoor seating in a nice garden patio. The inside is spacious and clean with beautiful paintings on the walls. The food is home made and delicious. My hubby said his mushroom burger was one of the best he's had. My spinach omelette was real. The fried potatoes were done just right. The prices are still good. The coffee is not the greatest, but it keeps coming.

This place is a little harder to find but worth the hunt. B's Diner is a little hole-in-the-wall joint populated by neat antiques, funny posters, and the warmth and personality of their staff. They do incredible work in the community and they are worth supporting.
If you are looking for an affordable meal or are looking to have a hearty bite at somewhere chill- this is your spot. It's got that great diner feel and the personality is all in the food.
I think part of the fun is the people-watching at this joint. Whyte ave bar staff the morning after, hipsters, musicians- never a dull moment.
I've heard the Elk sausage and perogie poutine is amazing, but I've yet to try it.
