I'm not impressed with the larger mountains like Killington and Okemo where the people (employees AND the guests) are rude and the food/beverage, and lifts are overpriced. I love Bromley. It is a mid sized mountain with an "old school" feel. The staff is pleasant and helpful. My friend broke the lace on her boot and went to the mountain shop to buy a new one. We were told that they didn't sell the wire laces, but he had spares behind the counter and proceeded to fix her boot for free. After riding all day, it was great to have a beer outside by the fire pit...and the beer was only $3. Then we decided to go inside and have a bite to eat. The food was super affordable as well.

I'm giving Bromley 4 stars just based upon what it offers in comparison to its size.  I visited Bromley this Saturday because we heard one of the main lifts at Stratton was down for the weekend and we wanted to avoid chaos.  I was actually really pleased with our visit.  The runs weren't very long, but the lift lines were really short and were able to get in a good day of riding.

Also, the bar at Bromley was pretty sweet - we were able to get in two beers and some chili bread bowls while warming up.  The only draw back was that the beer was almost as much as the bread bowl.

I would definitely come here if you're looking to avoid the crowds at Stratton.

In a state that seems to be constantly under a clouds and ice in Winter, Bromley seems to be perpetually sunny.

I had a Giant Slalom race here in 2002, and had a chance to explore the mountain after the competition. It's a great mountain for recreational skiers (i.e. non-competitive, non-aggressive), especially families of varied ability. This is especially because the weather here is rarely an issue, which I know can often be frustrating for less experienced skiiers. The lodge is also very nice.

While there isn't much of a variety of terrain--and on weekends the few steeper hills are blocked off for races or training--there's a fun terrain park, and lots of nice grooming.

$20 for 1/2 a mile zipline down mountain. SO MUCH FUN!

alpine slides are also awesome. But the zipline is my fave.  It's not as scary as it seems. GO gogogogogogogogo.

and after get a bloody mary :) they make their own mix and it's good.

Great family resort, both of my children are learning to ski here.  Not big and fancy, just right.
