Honest sushi and fresh fish. It's your neighbourhood sushi place and I pickup a tray regularly. The quality is consistent and the fish is always good. The salmon is wild and can be with the other ingredients bought if you want to make your own sushi at home.
As for the decor - it is what it is. I rather see the money go into the ingredients than in decor - at this price range. As I said this is in my opinion a joint serving the locals and if you want to grab a bite while you are on the way you can do that. -

Hmmm... definitely not. As I approached the counter, I asked for a vegetarian combo, in which he abruptly replied "Which one!?". I said "Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't know there were different kinds - are they all the same price?" He said "Which one!". I said never mind, and ordered a california roll and miso soup. He said "Sit down" and that's the rest I heard from him. He was pretty rude and seemed annoyed that I was there. When his (I assume) wife brought me the sushi, she said nothing and concurrently saw that I had spilled soy sauce on the table. She gave me a bad look, and didn't offer to clean it up or even replace my single napkin that was now drenched in soy sauce. Also my soy sauce was out and I had to go find another jar. Oh and at the front it says "Tip-ing is not a city in Japan!" Lol. Try working on your customer service and you won't have to write such silly things.

So it's not the prettiest or best sushi in Vancouver but it is good value (The quality is good for the price). Sushi for those who need a fix, indeed!

Great sushi for the price, not a great place to take a date. Best for take out as the decor is terrible but really, its about the food when ur looking for quick sushi. If you want an ambient sit down dragged out dining experience, do not go here. But if your in the neighbourhood and want a quick fix. this is it! Always fast and fresh, never had a problem with the food.

Rule #1: Do not judge a book by its cover.
I didn't go here for over a year because I was convinced it couldn't be good. Not only is it good, its fresh and super cheap too. Go in and the decor does not impress but they use all fresh ingredients and its run by one family, so go out and support your local businesses. Oh yeah, they also have tons of veg. friendly choices, so go wild.
The spicey sauce on its own (or with anything) is super yum as well as the "yummy roll." They have really good deals on party trays as well, so if you are throwing a party and live in the area, do not underestimate Broadway Sushi!
This is the ultimate take-out place (not really a sit-in place), get it to-go try and bring your own container (to save on waste). Then, enjoy your meal outside (they have a few outside seats) or in a near by park beach. -
Review from Mark C.
This place is surprising in that it is not terrible given what it looks like from the outside and from the inside. We went here based on Yelp reviews (average of 4.5 stars, at the time) and because we were in Kitsilano looking for good sushi. I found reviews that described this as cheap, good, fresh sushi. That's good enough for me -- I don't mind simple decor if the food is outstanding. But, ok now, time to inject a bit of reality here.
The place is a real dive. We dined sitting in and that results in minus one star for the unappetizing setting (alright, so I *do* mind if the place looks awful). There is a large menu on the wall but it is mostly different combinations of rolls that have only slight variations. The quality of the rolls were, meh. Fresh enough, yes. Tasty enough, ok. But, nothing too special (other Vancouver sushi places are much better). The miso soup that came with my combo was not tasty.
I will commend this place on the freshness of the tuna and salmon nigiri sushi. Those pieces were excellent. Because of those pieces in my combo plate and because of the cheap price, this place is ok.
But, I think overall, just ok. -

The first time I went here was by accident. A bunch of us were meeting up for sushi on Broadway and we got mixed up. This definitely isn't a sweet spot for sit-in dining! I have to say that if I was reviewing their sushi I'd give it 3 stars. I found the miso bland and the sushi was ok but that's it. What got me back though was their selection of items to make your own sushi. I picked up a nice slab of tuna and salmon, sushi rice, nori, a little restaurant-style bottle of soya sauce, packets of miso paste and wasabi here for about $40. They have a lot of different frozen fish and seafood to choose from, pickled ginger and more if you need it. I think they have rolling mats too. Pop across the road to the grocers for your veggies and you're set for a fun night of rolling and eating your own sushi. Kampai!

Brilliant! Best sushi in Vancouver. Comparitively inexpensive... Perfect size rolls, and speedy, friendly service. Excellent quality fish, and even their California roll is better as the crab pieces are whole and not shredded.
