Review from Mary D.
I have enjoyed a few Brick Street Bakery sandwiches at the Distillery and Queen East locations.
So I was thrilled this week to discover a location in the PATH!
I went today and picked up my favourite - the Coronation Chicken sandwich, and it was just as I remember it - DELICIOUS! My husband got the meatloaf sandwich, and loved that too. The place was bustling and busy, but the staff were pleasant and fairly quick. At $7.50 and $8 respectively, these sandwiches are on the upper end of my lunch budget. But it's great value for the money - the sandwiches are fresh, tasty, and big portions.
One downside is that this area of the PATH does not have much seating nearby, so we walked quite a distance to sit down and enjoy it. But enjoy it we did!Listed in: Working 9 to 5

I feel like I've been here enough to properly review it... I stop here 3 mornings a week and often for lunch.
This is a pretty straight-forward bakery aimed squarely at the office worker lunch crowd. Great selection of hot and cold sandwiches-- I've had almost all of them and my faves are the Boxing Day turkey and the braised lamb. Also the meatloaf special (which seems to be available every day?)
Decent selection of pastries, although a bit boring after a while... Same old croissants and cookies... Would be nice to have some more exciting items from time to time.
The croissants are definitely a hit-- a bit greasy but good balance between moist and crusty. One of the better ones I've had outside of Paris (that was a shameless self-aggrandizing statement).
Some of the pastries are misses; the bread and butter pudding is way too heavy and eats like a meal, the Eccles cake doesn't really seem to have a raison-d'être, macarons are too chewy (blech).
Service is the real star of the show here. The all-female staff is super pleasant, perhaps somewhat slow, but seem genuinely happy to be there. Very refreshing change from the usual service industry passive-aggression.
Yelp says I'm a regular here and I guess that's true... There's enough good about this place to bring me back every morning I'm downtown. -

Dropped by after seeing couple reviews since I was in the midst of searching for bakeries. It was a little tricky to find....but what isn't when it's located in PATH? Somehow found it after wandering around for a minute or two.
Didn't see much bread when I first walked in...but soon spotted the croissants people raved about in the corner. I wanted to get all 3 to try (butter, chocolate and almond) but got 2 just to try first. Service was a little rude, but then again..what do I expect. Butter Croissant is $1.75 and Chocolate/Almond Croissant is $2.00
Tried both of the croissants.....OMG it's so good! They are soft, flaky, buttery and sweet in your mouth. Chocolate croissants were a little more dense which was absolutely fabulous with the 2 strips of bitter dark chocolate inside the pastry goodness. Almond croissant was more fluffy with sweet almonds sprinkled on top. Once you take a bite...you can't stop. I want to try the butter croissants next time I drop by. Did I mention I am so coming back here? I guess I did!!
Be aware...if you are on no carbs diet, stay away from this area that seems to be filled with bakeries and bread shops. -

I went in last week because I was looking for some treats to share with my colleagues and really had a craving for some macaroons. The display is really nice. Not only do they have an assortment of sweets but they also serve savory items and in fact I saw quite the queue during lunch.
I went during a busy time of day. I ordered six macaroons for $10, normally they are $2 each. Service was perfunctory. The macaroons were good, but I found the strawberry one too sweet and really dense around the middle where the outside met the filling.
I went again earlier this week to try out one of their cookies. I chose the vanilla orange one. I couldn't help but notice that there were 5 service staff to the 3 customers in the shop. The woman who took my order put the cookie in a paper bag and put in on her side of the counter and half way between her and the register and mumbled something I couldn't understand. I went to pay thinking that my cookie would be brought to the cash... it wasn't. I paid, walked back to where my cookie was and reached over the counter to grab it. The cookie was nice. Not too sweet but I would have like a bit more citrus and vanilla coming through, I felt that the cookie was somewhat bland.
I will go back and give them a chance with their other items, they look so good. If it doesn't work out, there are plenty of other places to satisfy my sweet tooth within a 10 m radius. -

Mmmm... so I can get a croissant from them after work without hopping over to their Distillery District location. Joy! I've tried their regular croissant before and was happy with it so I went for their almond croissant this time.
Looked really amazing, the top is covered with sliced almonds and dusted with icing sugar. They don't split the croissant in half and fill with almond paste like some other bakeries do. Instead, they spread their filling, which they make themselves, when they roll it up before it gets baked.
Taste-wise, it didn't disappoint. My only picky point is that I ate through half of it with hardly a trace of filling and then at the other end there was actually some paste throughout the layers. Otherwise, it was super flaky, buttery, and this is definitely the first spot I'd hit in the financial district to grab a croissant.

You'll come for the croissants, you'll stay for the Chicken Tarragon pie.
By far the best croissants I've had in downtown Toronto. Flaky? Check. Buttery? Check. Their butter croissants are amazing, but their chocolate and almond croissants are ridiculous! I'm there at least once a week for a croissant. Truthfully, I would have one everyday if I wasn't afraid my ass would bust out like a navy life raft...I digress.
Their lunch menu is a refreshing change when compared to the food court options at FCP and the adjoining office towers.
Chicken Tarragon Pie
Sheppard's Pie
Stout Pie
Grilled veggie sandwiches
Roasted beet and feta salad (my favourite)
Chicken Curry
All are delicious and the queue of folks lining up every lunch hour can certainly attest to that.
Now, I have not tried any of their other pastries, but they do have a large selection of tarts, cookies and loaves and they look absolutely delectable in the display cases, however, I'm a croissant kind of woman. As tempted as I may be to try them, the weekly croissant is about all my low carb diet can take.
Oh, you're probably wondering why only 3 stars...well, the service is a bit slow when there are more than 3 people in the store, they strike me as a bit disorganized (I suspect they're still working out the kinks), and they seem to sell out on the favourites quite often, so they should perhaps take this into consideration and adjust their production accordingly.Listed in: Best FCP Lunch Spots

The Distillery's popular bakery just opened up a new location at First Canadian Place. The smell of fresh baked bread in the morning is a wonderful way to greet me in the morning on my way into work.
In addition to fresh-baked breads, they sell sandwiches, sweet and savoury desserts including my favourite treat: macaroons! They're limited on flavour, I counted six different ones in total, but hopefully they'll have more of a selection. -

This little bakery is a great addition to First Canadian Place. They probably don't do the baking on site, but I think I found a new favourite place to get my croissants. They have some great tarts, bigger cases than the one in the distillery but I think less selection since they likely ship them in in the morning.
The sweets aren't too pricey and are comparable to the Chinese bakery just 3 steps away and the cake shop adjacent.
Try the croissants- they have regular butter (I'm a purist and love these ones); almond (filled with almond paste!); and chocolate. -
