You know, I read the other two reviews posted here, and I feel for them.
Car/service shops can be really difficult on both you and your wallet. As someone who worked in the automotive aftermarket for years, it can be very difficult to diagnose and fix an issue with your car if you're not mechanically-inclined enough to fix it yourself.
That being said, *my* experience with Brian Jessel BMW's team has made me feel like a king.
I just bought a vintage BMW (almost 25 years old), and I wanted some OEM parts/fluids for it... the receptionists were all smiles and helpful, and both Teddy and Colin (the gentlemen I dealt with at the Parts Counter) didn't care that I was driving an "old" BMW: they wanted to know all about it.
They really made me feel like they were happy to have my business; as small dollar value as it was.
It's opened my eyes yet again to how great service makes all the difference.
Edit: Pro tip: If you find yourself in a situation like the 2 reviewers previous to me, don't ignore the power of a written letter to the General Manager with a cc: to their corporate HQ. Very few things are more effective. -

Just wanted to chime in here about BJ BMW. Shockingly poor service, and then a terrible attitude IN WRITING! from the manager who emailed me back about it.
Bought my 2007 335i at Autowest BMW in Richmond, and on a flyer, decided to get a recall repair done at Jessel [I live in Yaletown]. Big mistake.
Drop off was just OK, they even gave me a no charge loaner. But to pick up, I waited 15+ minutes while "my" service advisor [read: commissioned salesperson for services] dealt with another party [while several other service advisors sat suffling papers at their desks]. I finally demanded someone get my car. Another 15 minutes wait.
When it was finally located, I drove off, and when I got home, discovered that someone had removed MY license plate frames, and installed Brian Jessel frames!!! My Autowest BMW frames were tossed in the trunk.
The unmitigated gall of a dealership that would tamper with a customer's car, without permission, tells you everything you need to know about how these guys operate. Not only did they not ask permission, they actually think so highly of their service that they assumed I would have no problem advertising for them, even though I bought the car elsewhere [which now, I'm really glad I did]
Thinking it was some kind of mistake, I took it up with management, who offered to swap them back, as long as I was prepared to spend an hour of my time driving there and back. His email was long and comical, going on and on about how great BJ BMW is, but never once apologizing, or admitting is was a douchebag think to do in the first place.
I had my BMW serviced in Richmond for years at Autowest, and although a pain in the ass to drive there, now makes me appreciate their helpful, efficient, and HONEST service department
PS - i noticed a posting about a guy who bought parts at BJ BMW and found everyone wonderful. I bought a quart of oil while I was there, and YES! lo and behold, a completely different attitude from the parts counter. Go figure -

I don't know if the problem is BMW or this location, but my dad purchased a brand new 330 xi in 2006 and it was a lemon directly from the factory! For a couple of years he kept going back claiming there was a problem and finally they changed the cylinder head and the problem was fixed.
I don't appreciate that people are shelling out good money for "reliable" vehicles, only to have problems right away. -

I bought a used SUV from them just before they moved to the Richmond location. Remember there was a lot of pressure from the sales person and they wouldn't move a penny on the price, in fact I had to pay an "admin fee." Was later informed this practise is pretty much a scam.....will know better next time. I buy cars often, and will not buy from them ever again, I also wouldn't recommend others to this dealership.

I've been going to Jessel on and off for years to service my cars. In other words, I've given them lots of opportunity to earn more business and perhaps receive future purchases and quality referrals from me. Not going to happen.
I've never seen a premium brand (across all industries) so poorly represented. The physical set-up of their service bay is abhorrent. The quality of service is horrible, from the service reception people through to the advisors. The mechanical know-how is pretty much 1 out of 10. I've had to dick around dozens of times to get simple issues cleared up. Getting things done right and properly the first seems to be the impossible mission with Jessel. Everything from the policy of intrusively putting their ad frames on my plates (they broke my rear plate frame which I had to replace at my cost) to their dithering on pressing service issues stinks.
Today takes the cake. I was just in last week with 'check engine light on' after several warranty issues that haven't been addressed properly. Instead of going through any effort to make a satisfying conclusion to these on-going problems, they just recommended that when the car goes into limp home mode, bring it back (What if I'm in Portland Oregon?)
Anyway, while driving today, My low-oil warning came on. I pulled into the nearest Mr. Lube to have it addressed. When they showed me the quality of the oil, I almost feinted. The oil was charcoal black, almost solid. I specifically told them to replace any fluids including oil at my last service before going out of warranty. 2 months ago.
Remember, this is just the last in a long line of incompetent service stops, all involving Jessel. I've never had any problems with Parkshore, BMW store. Just Jessel. So, I'd stay away from Jessel, tell your friends and colleagues to steer clear of this horrific dealership under all circumstances.
Jessel is the puppy-mill of BMW dealers.
With a brand new dealership being built in Langley, you would think Jessel would get their act together. They've gone incredibly downhill over the last 10 years.
To the 5 star review below: I also have a collector BMW, and would never subject it to Jessel's Service. It's my observation that you are taking a huge risk. -

The worst service possible. They make you wait around for 20 minutes, even when you have an appointment, before they sign you in, which seams to me to be an overly complicated process. They tell you things need to be fixed, even when they are not broken. And they charge more then other BMW dealership. Go to Park Shore, it only a few minutes away over the bridge

I just had to make a comment on the previous posting who really liked Brian Jessel BMW: I went to Brian Jessel about 5 years ago with intent of looking to purchase a new 320i. I wondered around the showroom for a while. There were about 5 sales guys in a group all not working and talking about their weekend. When I finally approached them, they didn't even wait for my question, they just told me the "used" BMW's on in that corner of the lot. I was so pissed I went to Park Shore BMW in North Vancouver and bought a new 320i from them. NEVER judge a customer like that. Granted, maybe a lot has changed in the past 5 years, but there is NO WAY I would ever buy a car from Brian Jessel just because of that situation 5 years ago.
