Right off the bat I feel guilty for giving only 3 stars to a place that has been around since I was a kid. I grew up next door to this place, and have been there several times over the years. This review is based on my most recent experience there, a post-birthday dive-bar celebration on Brewster's karaoke night.

The location is easy to find, with a nice patio, and it's pretty spacious inside, if a little grungey. They also have 2 pool tables and a couple of arcades, if that's your thing.

The drinks were pretty cheap all around, and the lone bartender did a commendable job considering that everyone seemed to descend upon the bar all at once.

The karaoke service was surprisingly effective in such an odd space to do it. It wasn't overpowering conversation, and you could hear the singer perfectly. The selection of songs was very decent as well.

So, why the low-ish score? I hate to rate a place based on the element it attracts, but that's exactly what I'm doing. Every time I've been to this place in the past, there has been some form of offensive riff-raff to sour my experience, be it biker-esque types starting something, sloppy drunks making waves, pushy 50-somethings with no teeth looking to get laid, and certain other undesirables. However, this most recent time had little to none of that, with the exception of the 50-something woman who snuck a neck-tatted younger man into the ladies washroom to screw, which was more funny than anything else (Fun fact: the same woman had earlier randomly accused me of being 12 years old when I was getting a drink, and dropped an ice cube down my shirt). It's also worth noting that Brewster's is seeming to attract a younger crowd these days as well, which is a welcomed change.

Enjoyable dive, with a good Saturday karaoke service, decent prices, and (mostly) nice people.
