Breakwater Books is a wonderful independent bookstore here in Powell River. You can find lots of books by local authors and regional titles. As you enter the store, books are attractively displayed on tables, or you can walk between the stack and browse to your heart's content. The owners Sean and Ruth are always available to assist customers. They also host book launch parties, author readings and other cultural events in their cozy store. As mentioned in the other review, they also have a coffee shop so you can sip a latte and nibble a snack while you read you newest acquisition or surf the web with a free wireless connection.

Nice people, good books, great cafe. The quiche is heavenly with a handmade pastry crust. The pies are wonderful too. Very nice vibe about the place
