Overall: A great hole-in-the-wall eatery, with wonderful Brazilian food
I'm not the posh restaurant kind of gal, I prefer the holes-in-the-walls, where they sell, good, honest, homemade food. Brasil stone grill definitely fits the bill.
It's a small place, staff are friendly, and service was pretty good, although a little disorganized at times. We ordered two fried appetizers to share - ground beef roll and a chicken dumpling-thing (about $1.00 each). For our entrees we had the beef steak dish ($16.99), which came with the traditional Brazilian beans, salsa, chips, rice and breadcrumbs (of some sort). The steak wasn't as seared/caramelized on the outside as I'd hoped, but the flavor was good.
For dessert I had a coconut flan with syrup soaked prunes, and J had a chocolate cake, which came with a coconut/chocolate sauce. Everything was pretty yummy, but it's a shame they don't do more veggies. -

Today on a wander about Gastown, the sight of the Brazilian flag caught my eye. And I am glad it did. Since my travels in Brazil, I've been seriously missing the vibe of the Brazilian lanchonete (a blend of restaurant/bar/cafe), but this place reminds me exactly of them. Both the pao de queijo (parmesan cheese puffs, $4 for 3) and brigadeiro (condensed chocolate balls, $1) were very authentic and delicious, and while snacking away and chatting with the very friendly Brazilian staff that were hanging around, I saw them being prepared. So house-made stuff, even better!! Everything I saw being served and on display in their glass case looked awesome to me. Talking with our server, they'll soon be bringing some Brazilian products, so hopefully soon I'll be able to have an ice-cold Brahma or guarana. Definitely will be visiting again.
