Boyd's reminds me of a small-town seafood restaurant. Simple and unpretentious, with fresh fish and the best coleslaw for miles around.

At Boyd's, the dining room is spacious and chalk full of chairs and tables. They have a small fish market in the foyer, with an ever-changing selection of fresh seafood on ice, and a full freezer case as well.

Near the end of the day, the pickings are small, so it's a good idea to come early in the day. If you're dining in, you can get a two-piece fish & chips dinner of Atlantic Cod for $11 or go for the Halibut for $17.50. Or you can get a fresh shrimp, crab or salmon sandwich with fries and cole slaw for $8.50.

There's a family fish 'n' chip pack for take-out, and if someone in your dining party's not into seafood, there are the requisite chicken fingers as back up.  Their seafood chowder is delicious and if you can't decide on one thing their seafood combo plate for $15 allows you to sample to your heart's content. You have to pay 75 cents for extra tartar, mayo or lemons, but the portions are plentiful to make up for it. If you're not too stuffed they have delicious slices of pie for $3.50 and ice cream for $1.75, a decent price for dessert these days.

I can't believe I just read three good reviews about this place......my wife and I ordered a two piece halibut and chips, and an extra order of fries to go as the person taking the order said there wouldn't be enough fries for two people. The portions were so ridiculously small we couldn't stop laughing! 5.00 for two cans of pop! The fries were completely under cooked (Hard inside). I actually went out to get more food from a different restaurant after. We can barely finish a two piece Halibut and chips from Britt's (I think it's cheaper there too), in case you are now picturing two very large people, lol.
We only had Boyd's the one time, so maybe the undercooked fries were not normal, but I can't get over the portion sizes. The tiny pieces of halibut were delicious, however.

This was my first time here at Boyd's, I've been told about this place for quite some time and finally decided to make the trip to Sherwood park and to visit Boyd's.   It's a little tricky to get to, a few turns here and there, and it's in a very unassuming location, across from a exhaust repair place and a bottle depot.  Any way we weren't to sure about coming in, it did look a little empty and the location kind of made me think twice.  We were initially greeted at the door by a menu on the wall with the cashier, I first thought we order and then sit down, but the waitress came along and sat us, at our table.  The menus are the place mats, so that was kinda neat.
I was tempted to order an appetizer but decided not too. Instead I had the two piece fish & chips, my friend got a fish burger. It was pretty good, not too greasy, nice home cut fries, not the thick ones , and great coleslaw.  My friends fish burger was good too, although she did say the bun was toasted to long.  Yes I may come back , nothing outstanding I'm afraid to say, but that's OK too, I'm a picky fish & chipper.  :)"
