A great pet store tucked away between Corso Italia and the rest of St. Clair West.
First, go here on a Saturday if possible. Lou (sp?) is the owner and works here that day. He's from the pharmaceutical business and does R&D. For his business, he handpicks what brands to sell and even makes visits to some of the companies' factories he deals with.
Lou was able to provide me with quality advice on all sorts of questions and stays away from using buzz-words you'd find in the animal food world.
The store itself is small, but cozy. A large selection of brands and food/toys/etc. for Cats, Dogs, Reptiles, Birds, Hamsters and more. If you're looking for good prices and advice on some of the holistic/specialty brands, I highly recommend this.
Boubah's also does grooming and adoption services at reasonable rates.
Finally, you may find a cat sitting on the cash counter sniffing what you just bought, but that's just part of the experience :-)
Overall, a wonderful pet store and I plan to keep coming back. -

The owners Maureen and Llewellyn named the store after their dog and while I don't see them as often in the store these days, the young people they've hired to mind the store are friendly, helpful and competent. (I think they started out as co-op students from Oakwood CI and now they are taller than me... sigh, kids).
Boubah's is great for everything you need for your pets. You will find specialty brands of dry and canned pet food, treats, toys, collars and leashes (including our favourite, locally owned Angel brand), backpacks, and I'm sure there is more but I only have cats and dogs so don't shop for stuff you would need for other animals. When the K-dog started turning up his nose at the expensive food purchased at the vets, Llewellyn suggested Fromm which comes in different single-protein-source flavours and when you open the package it actually smells like food. Still expensive but both dogs have done extremely well on this food and they still like it after three years. (Fellow dog owners will know that good output = good input).
They also offer dog grooming, which you need to call ahead to book. There are often kittens for adoption in the big cage by the door. They are brought in by neighbourhood cat owners who find their cat in the family way. Adoption requirements are consent from everyone in the house, and purchase of a bag of food and collar for the kitty.
It's very helpful that they are open 7 days a week and until 8 p.m. most nights. -

Great little neighbourhood pet shop with some of the best prices in the city! Worth the trip to save a few bucks sometimes!
Only thing is (and hence the lack of 5th star), it smells. I get it, it's a pet shop... it's allowed to be a LITTLE stinky... but why does THIS one have such an unpleasant aroma when compared to other pet stores? I go in a TON of dog-related businesses. This one is the worst olfactory offender. That said, it only costs one star.
Also, Malik pooped the first time we went here, as soon as she entered. Right on the floor, right in front of the cash register and cashier. EMBARRASSING! She had never done this before, and hasn't done it since, thank goodness. Anyhow, there are bags, Kleenexes, etc. on hand - seems they are used to these little occurrences. The staff didn't even bat an eye - just smiled knowingly. They understand.
We bought Malik's first Martingale-style collar here, one of the only places we found that stocks the smallest size of this type of collar. It has a wide selection of healthy pet food and treats, supplements, toys, accessories, etc. and is bigger than your average neighbourhood pet shop. -

I can find everything I need for my kitty. They even have the royal canin brand which you cannot find at regular supermarkets as well as organic and environmentally friendly supplies.
And the people is always friendly. Totally recommend it. -

it smelled in here.
in a certain way its completely forgivable considering the fact that its a pet store, with pets in it. there are no dogs or cats, but there are fish, birds and reptiles for sale. i think the stench was coming from the fish tanks, easy enough to make the connection from childhood fish tank experiences.
better cleaning solutions maybe? a tighter sched on the maintenance of the tanks? some more of those ugly faced scum sucking fish in each tank?
well as olfactory fatigue will have it, i forgot about the smell soon enough, and passed by a coral reef of cat and dog food. they had many different kinds of food, both canned and bagged that catered to the more wholesome in pet food fare. no kibbles and bits for these guys.
as is to be expected there were also some choices for dog coats, booties, collars, toys, bones and so on. They even had a refrigerator filled with mildly cooked, ready to serve delicacies. Or at the front was one of those multi-bin shelves you see at bulk barns where, instead of candies or nuts, they had those leather chewables for dogs.
its seems that for the neighbourhood, they really provide an opportunity to get some healthy options for your pets or just a small healthy pet...
