After strolling through the arboretum with my out of town guests, we all felt we could use a drink and something light to eat. Thankfully yelp led us to Bottlehouse where we were all completely satisfied snacking and sipping on some of our favorite things.

The ambiance is terrific - a classic home with hardwood floors and simple but beautiful decor and artwork throughout. It was a beautiful autumn day and we were seated near the large bay window with a very relaxing view of the turning leaves.

Our server  was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and attentive, explaining in great detail the beer on tap (sadly, only 2), and the wines - including the few that were available on tap.

Unbeknownst to us until reviewing the menu, it was happy hour which meant $5 glasses of the very locally made Sangiovese (made downstairs) and $3.50 cheeses. Between the 4 of us we had the very tasty 2 Beers Pumpkin Ale on tap, Leavenworth's Oktoberfest (also on tap), Sangiovese, a cheese board, hb baguette with local honey, creme fraiche, butter & sea salt, and the castelvetrano olives. It was exactly what we were in the mood for and I am anxiously looking forward to a return to sample more of the menu.

"Neat, unique, and intimate" are words that I can conjure up when describing this venue that is inside a house that is converted into a wine bar/wine tasting space.

Great for dates as they have tables, bar stools, and intimate spots around the house for a couple to sit and chat with dim lighting.

Bottlehouse is a little bit of a drive from downtown, but it's worth it. The cab fare was about $8 from Pike Place market and less than a 10-minute ride.

This is a very groovy place, maybe one of the most unique wine bars you'll ever see. It's in a cozy house where you instantly feel at ease. The wine selection is unique, the conversation with the wine sherpas is easy. You'll love the vibe here.

Taking a taxi might be preferable as I'm not sure about how much street parking there is available.

    Best wine bar in Seattle.

Soni & Henri, the owners, are the best and so young! I love the vibe at Bottlehouse it's so cozy and intimate. They have a great wine list and always have something unique going on wine wise. I wish there were more places like Bottlehouse in the world for it would be a way better place for sure. Long live Bottlehouse :)

DRINKS. I had a wine flight here which was to die for; a delicious rose, a bubbly white, and an intoxicating red. Would buy bottles of all if I could only remember whiche ones! My husband had a microbrew from their extensive list. He enjoyed it!
RECOMMENDATIONS: They have specials, so definitely check them out. DO try a wine flight.

FOOD. Together we shared bread, an open faced sandwich and an awe-some cheese plate. The cheese plate was delivered to us by the in house cheese monger and he explained in detail where each of the five (six?) cheeses came from, the animal it came from and it's taste/texture. Accompaniments included pickled vegetables, honey and a berry jam. Yum!
RECOMMENDATIONS: Uh. Get the cheeeeese. If you don't like cheese, eat before you come and order snacks. This is not the place to come to have a meal.

A very quaint wine bar that has a nice selection of wines you can buy in the front and a lot of wine and a selection of beers and ciders as well.  They have three sizes for their wine, a tasting (2oz), a glass, and a bottle.  They have a few wines on tap and you are also able to create your own flights by mixing and matching 3-4 wines off the list.

I tried their cider (the french one had a distinct aftertaste I couldn't stand but the pear one was all so lovely) and their wines (the one from Wala Wala was a delight).  I found that the numerous options on the menu  (beer, cider, wine) makes it very appealing to the masses and I just found the service to be friendly, informative, and pleasant.  I would love to come again the next time I'm in Seattle.

A wonderful neighborhood addition. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is wonderful. The star of the show are the wines. The wine flights are interesting journeys. There isn't much there but snacks and wine so don't expect a huge meal but wonderful cheeses and different wines are the order of the day

I was nervous because I always get the idea that I am in a bed and breakfast when I think of a place that is in a house but I loved this place!

We did a tasting from some local vineyards, then sat outside- the deck was cozy and intimate with candles and also outdoor heating lamps making dinner and conversations move along slowly without having your teeth chatter or the need to ask for a blanket. We ordered pretty light, just a cheese plate, baguette, mac and cheese (mmmm...get it) and olives.

Great service, wine, food, and ambiance- I will be back!

Bottlehouse is just a simple wine bar, but they do everything right within those constraints. For one thing, they feature an awesome selection of wine, beer, and spirits, plus interesting flights and cocktails, and good versions of standard wine bar fare (cheese plates, small sandwiches, etc.). Unfortunately, they do not feature a full restaurant menu, although you could cobble together a small meal there.

The space itself is nice as well. As one of the many Seattle businesses occupying converted houses, they've managed to retrofit the place so that it feels like an actual business (whereas many converted houses feel like... converted houses). It's also very comfortable in here, even on these absolutely frigid nights we've been having recently. Service was very good: friendly and prompt. Recommended for sure.

Came here thinking I'd get some good wine and tapas. Nope. Food menu was almost non existent.

Grabbed a bottle of spellbound from the retail area and brought it to my table. The wine was good enough, but why was I charged an $11 cork fee for getting a bottle of THEIR wine????

Ordered two sandwiches. Flavorless and hard bread. Not good.

Had them pair 3oz meat and cheese. I would expect the cheesemonger to come and ask about our preferences, which is what the server made it sound like he would do. Nope. Apparently that's too much to ask for. Brought out two super lame cheeses that I was not a fan of. I don't care how good of a cheesemonger you think you are, but my taste buds are unique so don't think that you can just pair the wine with something and expect me to like it.

If you want to buy a special bottle of wine, this may be a good place to go. (I personally prefer 12th and olive wine shop). But if you want to sit and enjoy some good food with it, I'd recommend purple cafe and wine bar.

Service was good, but I spent way too much on nothing impressive.

I officially love this place. The ambiance is fantastic and it's quickly becoming my go-to spot for girls' nights even though I've been telling my bf that I "have to" take him there. My experiences here have only gotten better each time.

Everyone there works in conjunction and everyone knows sooo much about the wine. Our server helped us pick out a fantastic bottle of spanish wine ($31) and we paired it with a 5oz cheese/meat plate ($20).

The cheesemonger, Sully (i think was his name), came over and talked to us about the meats and cheeses and also provided guidelines to store cheese when we asked.

Ambiance is fantastic, service is exceptional, and if you love wine and charcuterie like I do, this is a WHERE YOU SHOULD GO.

This is such a cute place.  It's a large house that's been converted into a great date night spot!  We went with a couple of friends, and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

There's a huge wine selection; you can open a bottle there, or just order off the menu.  They have wines on tap!  It's a rotating menu, and they try to feature local wineries, which is really great.  The selection was large, and you can make your own flights of wine or port or what have you, with fairly generous pours.  They also have some beers and non-alcoholic drinks, so there is something for everyone.

They also have a menu of small bites; they were featuring Beecher's mac 'n cheese that night (which the boy LOVES - it definitely made his night, let me tell you) and our friends enjoyed cheese curds and more mac 'n cheese.  I had a dessert specialty of the night - a tiramisu whoopie pie with vanilla bean ice cream.  Divine.

Soni and Henri are really friendly and enthusiastic, and we had great service from all of the staff members.  The atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable, with lots of great lighting and good ambiance.  We're already trying to plan a trip back!

Washington and Oregon wines, almonds, olives, charcuterie and hand pies all in a cozy, hip and modern atmosphere.  Bottlehouse matches the up and coming cool that is Madrona.  Henry was very knowledgable about the wine he was serving.  Every other tuesday there is a "songwriters salon" which anybody can play their own original tunes or covers.  It is very intimate and this charming house converted to a home bar may have a lot to do with it.

There are plenty items on the menu to nosh on and the wines, although very eclectic, are all delicious.  And the setting almost forces you to meet new and interesting people.  Great job Bottlehouse.  Whose house?   Bottlehouse . . . wicki wicki say WHAT?

So this was a hard rating for me. I have been here a handful of times before. Based on those times I would give this place a 4-5. My past experience though, I would only give it a 2 or a 3. So let's start with the good times.

I have been here with friends in the past. The GIRL servers have been awesome. Nice, welcoming and knowledgeable. We really enjoyed our wine and appreciated the cheesemonger who gives a great explanation about why they are pairing the food with your wines. They also have Beecher's mac and cheese which is always good. Note that it is on the small side which can be good or bad. The happy hour wines are on special for $4 each.

Just today I brought my fiance and had a very different experience. We had a male server that I hadn't seen before. The one server recognized me which was nice and surprising (I didn't think I had been that much, but it was nice she remembers people).

We specifically asked "which wines are on happy hour special," and he listed 4 wines. We ordered 2 of these wines. Our second order was placed right before happy hour ended when he left to search for wine under the building. I wasn't sure if this would make it for happy hour since he was gone. However, I was quite surprised when we got our bill and ALL of our wine was at regular price. Wait, what happened to 'which wines are on happy hour" and the 2 we selected? So I asked in a friendly way because I hate to be a bother. He made some excuse about being a certain type of wine at which I know I had a very confused look on my face. Because I hate to complain I said OK and paid and still left a good tip.

So I have had good experiences but this last encounter left a rather sour taste in my mouth. Make SURE that you get the happy hour wines in writing and have agreement if you are there during happy hour time. Or just sit in the girls section. They are fantastic. So warm and friendly and pleasant. They will take great care of you.

We decided to check this place out to see what all the yelp hype was about, and now I completely agree with all of the high ratings. Tucked away in an old home, the dim lighting and rustic decor create a very romantic yet cozy atmosphere. This is a great date night activity. I like that there is an option to customize your own tasting flight and for the indecisive, such as myself, there is also a predetermined daily flight. The nibbles(meat, cheese, and bread) were good, but a little pricey. We ended the meal with a high 5 pie, which was actually really bad, but that's a knock on high 5 not bottlehouse.

Additionally, you can also just stop in here, try a sample, and a purchase a bottle to go. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly.

I'm excited to go back in the summer and lounge on the nice little patio.

I wanted to update this post and let everyone know how wonderful Bottlehouse is for events! My friend (and fellow yelper) Michelle recently got engaged, and I wanted to celebrate the happy couple by throwing them an engagement party, and thought Bottlehouse would be the perfect spot. It's just like being at your own house, without the hassle or the clean up!

In short Soni and Henry were amazing - so laid back and go with the flow the entire night. They let us split up the bills in any way we'd like, allowed us to get creative on space, and had wonderful bites and drinks for the entire group.

If you're looking for an intimate venue to throw your next party, I whole heartedly recommend Bottlehouse!

Please don't read this review.  Please don't review this review.

If you have gotten this far, you are clearly reading this review.  All I can say is what makes Bottlehouse so wonderful is its low-key neighborhood atmosphere, great wine selection and fantastically enthusiastic owners.  I am sure if everyone continues to review it with 4 and 5 stars (which is inevitable) this place may be lose some of that charm (and ample seating.)

While I can only say good things about this place, admittedly it would be nice to see a few more tasty eats on the menu.  But I get it.  They are sticking to what they do best: great wine by the glass or bottle, paired with olives, bread and cheese.  Its a simple plan: but few do it this well and with such low-key panache.  The service, should you meet the two owners who are often at Bottllehouse, is friendly, earnest, helpful and personal.

Somehow fantastically, this place is family friendly!

Oh well, word may get out after all.  All I can say is, fair is fair.  This is a wonderful, homey, and comfy spot with nibbles, long communal tables and an outside patio that makes it a destination in great weather.  I suppose they do deserve all the good they've got coming to them.

    Good on ya, Bottlehouse!

We stumbled upon Bottlehouse tonight while driving around trying to find a new happy hour (thank you, Cocktail Compass iPhone app!). We arrive and, like other reviewers, are a little taken aback that it's a house. Yes, I know, the name is Bottlehouse, I get it! Only after we finished our visit there would it all completely make sense. At this point, we were blindly following the Cocktail Compass' instructions of going here for a happy hour.

I'll be honest - when we walked in, we had no idea what to expect, or really what to do. For those of you who are completely clueless like I was, this place is perfect for catching up with friends over wine or having a pre-dinner drink. Don't come here expecting to eat anything substantial. That being said, it's an extremely enjoyable place.

The baguette with butter, sea salt, and honey sounds basic, but is anything but. The flavors were outstanding. We also got the Beecher's cheese curds, and really, how can you go wrong there? My husband took a chance with the Sangiovese that the waitress recommended, and we both loved it so much (and we don't even really like red wine that much) that we bought a bottle to take home. I seemed to be the only schmuck in the place drinking white, but I really appreciated that it was served ice cold, and it was extremely delicious.

Being a little self conscious with my ineptitude when it comes to wine, this place threatened to intimidate, but ultimately the warm service from the waitress paired with the great ambiance and yummy snackables made me really like this place. We'll definitely go back, especially now knowing it has an outdoor seating option during the summer.

I like this place so much I'm tempted to give it one star... Let me explain.

If everyone keeps giving it 4-5 stars it's going to be impossible to get a table at this awesome little spot. And it is little but that's part of the charm.

It feels as if you are having a drink at a friends house. Warm and intimate and the owners are amazing. Very attentive and super friendly. The wine list is varied and the eats are pretty darn tasty.

The only draw back as I see it is the beer list is pretty ale heavy. So if you aren't a fan of ales ( I know. I know.. It's crazy ), then your selections are limited. The acoustics in the house are a little wonky too. If you have a particularly loud table sitting near you it can be awfully hard to hear anything but them.

All things being said, this place is perfect for those tired of the usual, same old - same old, and it's perfect for a first or... fourteenth date.

Love this place. It achieves a rare balance of being stylish and unpretentious at the same time. The owners are terrific and, in my experience, the staff has been friendly and very capable.

The food selection is limited but excellent. While not what I would call a full-on restaurant, you can make a meal from the various selections quite easily. I addition to the bottled wines, they have some great wines on tap. And by "on tap" I don't mean cheap table wine. These are some excellent wines on tap that are very well priced compared to a comparable wine that has been bottled.

A big thumbs up for Bottlehouse.

Several of my friends are now regulars, and I've joined them on a few occasions. Modish, young entrepreneurs, Soni and Henri, have shaped up a slick little wine venue nestled in the heart of one of the Seattle's best neighborhoods.

It's got a great urban-rustic feel combined with some industrial touches.  The converted house makes for several crannies as well as more open seating, creating a great combo of intimate and sizeable space, depending on how many folks you're with. The art, on rotation, is always a kick to take a peek at while inside.  Outside, the fido-friendly deck is a great spot to unwind on a warm afternoon.  I could be wrong, but I feel like they CONSTANTLY have something going on whether it's live music or a featured tasting!

A pleasant handful of small plates to nibble on, a solid selection of beers and wines with generous pours behind a super friendly staff in a casual atmosphere! Kudos.

My fiance and I celebrated our engagement party at Bottlehouse.  Since we didn't have a friend with a home large enough to host 35+ guests, Bottlehouse was the next best thing.  An ideal location in quaint, neighborhoody Madrona, the ambiance and vibe of this place made it a perfect location for a celebratory occasion. The whimsical decor and paraphernalia of this space is so warm and familiar, it felt as if we were drinking wine in a friends cozy abode.

My friend coordinated the logistics for our engagement party with the owner who were very accommodating and flexible to our large number of guests.  They prepared a few cheese + meats antipasti platters for friends and family to nibble on while sampling the wine on tap, and were happy to add a no-host bar.

Everyone was wowed by the space and we were even able to enjoy the outdoor balcony under heat lamps.  I hope to go back here very soon for a catch-up drink with friends.

I absolutely love Bottlehouse. I'm also a sucker for any store or restaurant or cafe in an actual house, let me just put that out there. We put ourselves in the hands of the experts here and they did not disappoint! It's refreshing to remember that something so simple as cheese, meat, wine and bread can be so wonderful, and such a great gastronomic experience. Just YUM. I also love that everyone who works here is knowledgeable about every item on the menu. I learned all about pyramid cheese and have been passing it on! We loved the atmosphere, the menu and the service. I would highly recommend having a board put together for you. Wish we had a place like this is Dallas!

It's finally happened, while the space is incredibly welcoming and comfortable, it's just too crowded on weekend evenings.  It's no surprise that Bottlehouse is doing so well, the space has been thoughtfully created, the proprietors are amazingly welcoming and kind, and the food and drink are fulfilling and all kinds of tasty.
Best prosecco cocktail in town and you can buy the Scrappy's bitters to make your own at home...though it tastes better at Bottlehouse, just because.
We'll return when the patio opens and during the week, no more attempts on a weekend evening.
Oh, and they have gift cards - with a clever, attractive presentation.

It's a house? You are drinking inside of some body's house? Wait? What? No. Actually you have just came upon Bottlehouse. Hence the name??? They sell wine inside of a building that is a converted house. I bet you feel silly right about now. Then take your silly ass and go have some delicious.

Bottlehouse is in an intimate space so it would not be a good choice for larger parties (+10) without calling ahead. It is perfect for a romantic date or having intimate conversation among friends.

    Love love love!

I came for drinks with some lovely ladies and a lovely dog and we all enjoyed sitting outside on a clear afternoon.  Happy hour was going on which means $5 pours on a variety of wines.  That particular afternoon it was all the whites on the glass menu.  Fall was in the air and I was feeling more in the mood for red wine so I ordered a glass of their house red blend...and by house they mean that they actually make it themselves, in their basement!  It was delicious and if I drank wine at home very often I would have taken them up on their fun deal:  Buy a 1.5 liter bottle for $28, and then bring the bottle back.  They'll refill it for $21.

They offer 5oz glasses of wine but you can also order 2oz tastes if you want to try a few different things and still be able to drive home!  There are a few food options for nibbling if you're in the mood - breads and cheeses and such - but the menu is small so if you have food restrictions, eat before you come.

The staff was wonderfully helpful and friendly.  We also had the pleasure of meeting Henri, the owner.  He's only 27! And he works full-time at a place that isn't Bottlehouse!  (Sorry Henri but it had to be said because what you've put together is incredible!)

Finally, a reason to go to Madrona...

Tucked in across from June on 34th Ave in Madrona, behind a giant wine barrel, Bottlehouse is a pleasant surprise of a wine bar. Wine collection is smart and fairly comprehensive, and the pours come in either 2 or 5 ounces (well, they are a bit more generous than that with the actual pours).

This is a great little place if you'd like to spend a quite evening with small plates and good wine. It is also great if you are not quite ready to go home after a pleasant dinner out and about.

The part owner bartender/server that helped us was very polite, friendly and graceful. All in all, we had a great experience and plan to frequent the place because we really need amazing neighborhood establishments like this one thrive.

At the end of the evening, there were two pleasant surprises: (1) they didn't charge us for the wine we had stated that we didn't like - we expected to pay for it (2) when i wanted to buy one of the wines on tap - yes, on tap... they usually have 4 to 6 on tap apparently- we ended getting a magnum of it for only $29, with the opportunity to go back and refill when we want. How awesome is that. Great idea, great wines, great prices.

Very cool little place in a old house in Madrona. Super casual and comfortable. Good place to hang out with your girl or a small group of friends.

Excellent selection of great wines. Really good cheeses and a Cheese-monger (never met one before this) to help you find the one you want. Awesome bread with homemade butter and local honey.

Very European in what it offers. Cool place, try it.

This is the place I take friends to indicate to them that, "Yes, you probably DO want to continue hanging out with me and trusting my taste in ways to spend time ensemble." Thank you, Bottlehouse, for the validation. Without fail, the owners, servers, cheese mongers, bakers, and all others associated with this fine establishment are always prepared to thoroughly and so thoughtfully respond to my questions with extensive knowledge and enthusiasm. Each visit feels like a course in wine and cheese and general professionalism. And each visit is supremely and utterly satisfying for these things, and so much more. Great atmosphere, interesting location and amazing service. Also, it keeps the friends close.

Such a great litte wine bar & the grounds are just beautiful.  It would be a nice place to have a wedding or reception at.  Great yard, very romantic!

The wine I tried was good, but not spectacular.  Next time I will have to try a dessert wine.  I wish they had chocolate wine!

Cheese and bread is good too!

The staff was great, and really knew what they were talking about.  Gave great recommendations.  Turned out we were talking with the two owners.

They also have ice cream but we didn't try this.

Would totally come back to this cute little place, although not sure how often I will end up coming all the way to Madrona.  Wish this place had been open back when I used to live here ;)

My siblings and I had trouble coming up with a description of this place. Essentially a wine bar in a converted house, it's a strange amalgam of cozy, casual, upscale, and boutique all at the same time.

The whole place might seat 30 at most, so this is not your loud sports bar environment. They have both indoor and (recently) outdoor patio seating, with an antique-feeling classical furnishing style. In addition to the wines and beers, definitely try Hot Lips fruit soda - blackberry was my favorite. Tastes as if the fruit was carbonated on the stem itself. Wines and beers are rotated on a regular basis, and there was nothing I didn't like.

The young owners -- Soni and Henri -- are very down-to-earth and knowledgeable, and they have created a kind of intimate setting that makes you want to bring only your closest friends for a real conversation. The genius of this place is that at the same time, you want to bring every one of your friends to sit and chat.

I have great pleasure in 5 staring a place where I can see the passion, pride and soul of the establishment's owners into their work. Because of this, Bottleworks is not to be missed!

Bottlehouse is a beautiful place...an old house turned into a cozy and charming space full of hand-crafted wood detail and attention to details in every corner.  When you step in to the front living room (now renovated into a sitting area and bar) it's like going to an old friends house and having nibbles and great conversation over hand-crafted vino (or in their case, basement crafted). Isn't the whole point of dining out feeling comfortable and cozy, with knowledgeable, efficient and welcoming service ? This is what the brilliant minds at Bottleworks have mastered.

In addition to their great indoor space, they have a wonderful outdoor patio to enjoy a crisp white under the sun.

    Cheers, Soni and Henri! :D

I would have updated this earlier, except apparently Yelp has a twenty-four-hour rule....I would like to note that I WAS HERE three separate times in twenty-two hours. And for at least eleven of those hours they were not open.

You do the math....But in my numbers world, that average equals perfection.

This is a great informal and tasteful (literally) destination in Madrona;  remember that's a 10 minute walk from much of the Central District and Madison Valley/Park.  Other reviewers have complimented the wine selection, staff, menu and ambience accurately and thoroughly, so I will also point out that this spot has free wireless, delicious coffee, pastries and ice cream, making it a perfectly wonderful cafe in addition to its more obvious identity as a wine bar.  Nice little boutique storefront, also, and they offer a delicious take-away option for a 2L bottle of house wine, in refillable bottles!  Bellissimo!!

As of Oct 3rd:  Note that they are changing their weekend hours over the winter season (permanently?) so they will only be open on Sundays for private events.

Stopped by here after brunch at June across the street. Bottlehouse is on top of the winery in Madrona. They have wine and beer flights, and they're working on a bunch of fun wine and beer cocktails.

First off, the space here is just beautiful. They've got so much light, and they've created some lovely sitting nooks with rustic benches. The patio is just begging to be enjoyed with glasses of wine/beer and friends (and, it's dog friendly!!!). I'm looking forward to trying this place out and also finding some delicious new wines this summer.

They're working on putting together some small bites to pair with the wine and beer with June (from across the street). We met Henri, one of the owners. He's just a super nice guy. Come here and support Madrona's local businesses! Henri says they stay open late (apparently on Sat night yesterday they stayed open till 1am! In Madrona?! Who knew?!)
