Big, but manageable. Shuttle bus to move you from terminal to terminal.
Updated terminals
Clean
Great restaurants (and bars)
No issue here for me -
Review from shoaib a.
Pros:
- Logan is very conveniently located. I can't stress how important that is and wish more airports were located within the city rather than a 40 minute drive outside.
- Free Wifi: If you don't offer this then you hate your patrons and you need to accept the fact that internet should be free in airports b/c airlines screw us over and this is the least they can do.
- Relatively short security screening times: I haven't had to wait too long to get through security on Thursday evenings
Cons:
- Restaurants are hit or miss depending on the terminal: This wouldn't be an issue if there was an expedient way of going from one terminal to the other. However, you have to essentially leave the terminal and walk or take a bus to the other terminal, go through security, and then eat. That's not going to happen. -

Boston Logan International Airport is definitely OK. OK is an average of good and bad, which I've seen this airport become on different occasions. In a truly Dickensian fashion, I've had the best of times and the worst of times here.
The best of times?
- It is decently easy to get around. The airport serves a large city, but it is not super overwhelming.
- The terminals are well-organized at every step. I can easily check my bags and keep on movin'.
- I usually fly out of PVD (heartzzz!!1). But when I can't get my act together enough to book a cheap PVD flight, I wind up going to Logan, wherein I find that the security lines are never that bad! I am shocked every time.
- There is a Legal Seafood and a Todd English restaurant, but I think the former is outside of security. Weird...
The worst of times?
- Terminal E. Nightmares. I was set to go to Orlando, leaving at 6:15pm in mid-February. AirTran decided to delay us, but they would not tell us how long! They were missing a part...apparently. Anyway, I kept waiting and waiting, and we finally left FOUR HOURS LATER. (We got a free AirTran credit. This is good, but I am still spooked by how the plane was missing plastic pieces of my arm rest.) I won't dock stars from Logan just for this delay, since it's not always an airport's fault. But I do not understand why Terminal E is SO TERRIBLE. There is nothing to eat. There is a bar, and I am not going to pretend like I didn't sip a chardonnay while reading a book for class. Because I did. That bar has "food" which is basically warmed up and at least $9. There is also a Cosi (AKA paragon of saltiness) with even fewer options, a Dunkin' Donuts, and maybe one other similar place. I don't need Jean Georges, but four hours and those are my options? And there are maybe three stores. Rocking chairs are nice, but they didn't stop me feeling like I was going insane.
I finally realized - although no one clarified this to me - that you can indeed go to the international section of Terminal E and come back in without security. I finally did. There were more options there, though I got to keep realizing that I was in East Boston and not going to Munich or London. Still, even if you go around Terminal E in this section, you will still probably be bored.
So I guess there is just one negative. But it is big. And it is called Terminal E. Other terminals are just fine - Terminal C, with American Airlines, is somewhat spartan, but pretty user-friendly. I like the TF Green airport way better, but I won't compare apples and oranges like people do when they extol smaller airports over O'Hare...O'Hare and Logan serve big cities! Sometimes flights get delayed...
Anyway, Terminal E is E-vil. Don't do it ever. -

I had no issues with this airport.
It was clean, big, modern, but still all I had to do was exit the glass doors to catch my shuttle to Maine. The staff were also uber friendly at the time of the morning that I arrived. -
Review from Sarah W.
Unlike driving in Boston, Logan is really easy to navigate. Food choices are pretty great too. Lots of seating with outlets as well. Any terminal that I can sit in a chair and not on the floor next to the one outlet by the recycle and trash bins is considered a win in my book.

The Silver Line and free wi-fi are pretty spectacular along with short security lines due to the airlines being fairly distributed amongst the terminals. Plus you can grab a Harpoon once you're through security and relax until your flight time. Not too shabby!

Review from Luke T.
Rush hour for an airport is usually 6-7am Monday and also 4-7pm Thursday.
Might seem a bit strange but that when business travelers are in the airport.
Therefore, a good airport needs to ramp up resources during these hours to reduce wait time and speed up processing.
This airport failed in that category.
Plan to arrive very early for your flight cos you never know how long its going to take to clear security. -
Review from Jeff D.
Logan is a great airport. Yes it's a bit small, yes it's a bit old. But the people there know what they are doing and know what is most important. They get you checked in, they get you through security as quickly as possible and they usually get the planes out of there on time.
It's not fancy, but it gets the job done. -

I think I'm just used to Logan at this point. We have terrible restaurants in the terminals, and security is slow. At least my baggage comes quickly 9 times out of 10! Also, all taxis in stand take credit card.

Slowest security line ever! Even with less than dozen people in front of me through the Priority Line, it took close to half hour to go through security. TSA was rude and bossy.

Review from Joshua B.
Like most major airports this is suffering from wear-and-tear and the security theater that the TSA (or the gullible American public) seems to think makes us safer.
But it was nice that in the terminal I came into for my connecting flight back to Seattle had a bunch of food options and there weren't lines. However, I'm deducting a star because somehow, between gate B42 and B30 you have to GO THROUGH SECURITY AGAIN!
Seriously? What's up with that. I wasn't coming in from an international flight. That's just bad airport planning.Listed in: Traveling Fool, Work Edition

Hello Boston, a warm welcome from the airport, airline and even the TSA Staff at this airport. It's like their own Southern Hospitality up in Boston !
Thank you for putting me a ease and making my travel day more enjoyable !
Like all others, this airport only gets 4 stars due to the fact that you still have to pass through the Scrutiny of Airport Security. -
Review from Brian W.
I fly out of here more often than I'd like to - damn these jobs that require business travel.
Terminal A (Delta) is usually the cleanest and has the best food options including a Fuddruckers and Fresh City. The only downside to Terminal A is that these food options, and half the flights, require a long walk through a tunnel under the terminal to get to the other side.
I've flown into/through a ton of airports and Logan is closer to the best than it is to the worst.
Some things to look out for
- Central Parking can fill up on Mon with business travel so if you're flying out Tue or Wed you may end up having to park in the Economy Lot - leave an extra 15-20 mins
- Some terminals have gates in a separate area (Air Canada) with extremely limited food options once you're past security so plan ahead and eat before -

Great airport. Clean, efficient and loved passing through it. Great first impression.

Not my favorite airport. They really need to expand, but I am guessing that is pretty much politically, and environmentally impossible. It seems to take 30 minutes just to travel a few miles from the Airport if it is even close to rush hour.

Holding lot must be fairly close to the pick-up zone, my driver arrived within the minute. Taxis downstairs, limos and town cars upstairs. It was nice to have the United Airways check-in station right at the entrance, but security took a surprisingly long time and the trash can for disposing prohibited items was unnecessarily far back from the lines. The person talking to the tech via radio would use himself to physically block each passenger from leaving the body screening machine. They were pretty good about alternating between the "premium" processing group and the "lowly drones" group. Props for keeping the bathrooms pleasantly clean.

A-Ok is Boston Logan International Airport. The other yelpers are correct, it could use a good scrubbing, but the staff was polite. I do wish they had a body scanner, since Chicago Midway adopted them I have become rather fond.
The food options are standard, with a Hudson News in every wing. I was disappointed that the wifi was not "free". If you took a survey you could have free wifi for one hour but that is it. -

Considering my sour taste of Boston as a city, the airport was actually quite nice!
Very modern, natural lighting and colorful night lighting made the airport feel alive and museum-like (reminded me of the Bangkok international airport actually). Lots of space. Marble floors always preferred over carpet since it makes the roller-boards easy to dance with through the aisles.
Premier Line at security was as slow as the regular line! Also TSA never assumes I am premier and double Check my boarding pass every time! but that's not the airport's fault, its society's way of undermining young women travelers under the assumption that we cannot possibly be "elite" since we cannot possibly be as successful as the older white men in dull suits with Dunhill cuff-links and black leather briefcases.
Decent selection of shops and restaurants.
Clean, spacious restrooms.Listed in: Traveling for Work!, Layovers and Jetsetters!

Review from Sarah W.
Good/great things about Boston Logan:
-Lots of airlines/flights to most anywhere
-Option to do paperless ticketing; i.e., you can go through security with just your smartphone and ID
-Security is usually fine -- it's rare that I'm caught in an awful line
-Good food items (or at least good snacks) are available at almost every terminal
-Silver line connection is fast and reliable to the red line
-Blue line shuttle is also good
-clean and neat
-FREE WIFI for an hour if you take a (really brief) survey. Love this feature!
Suggestions for improvement:
-More outlets needed everywhere
-More of those nice white rocking chairs periodically
-Fix the issue with the gray tubs at security--there must be a better way to keep them in constant supply! Most of the hold ups at security are waiting for trays. -

Older Airport. Came out of Terminal B (Virgin America).
It just seemed like this terminal had one gate that was 'closed' at the time of my arrival to the airport. I had to wait in a small seating area in front of the Virgin America desks until about 30 minutes before boarding time. There is only one food place once inside.Listed in: I'm on a PLANE!, Tourist In... Boston

Big airport, but I've only ever had to fly out of Terminal E. I've never flown domestic from Logan, but internationally, it's easy. It's not busy like JFK, which is hell on earth, but food is hard to come by. I had to take the train so I ate in Boston before I took the blue line to Logan,. Clean modern airport, I had no issues with it. Location is perfect, so close to the city.

the southwest terminal only has one bar. and it opens at 10 am. i know that sounds like a complaint from an alcoholic, but most airports have bars that open at 6 am. my flight was at 9:50 am which means boarding at 9:30, and while i normally wouldn't have a drink before 7 PM at home...it's complaint from a nervous flyer that needs one beer to relax. eek.

I had a good experience coming through here for a conference this weekend. On the way out I was able to easily nap the transit line moving into the city for $2, and on the way out I was able to get through security in an efficient manner with friendly service along the way.
I appreciated the free wifi, and had some a good amount of food / snack options in a relatively small terminal. I also dug the filtered water dispenser for large water bottles that had a sensor to fill up my bottle precisely to the brink. Technology is amazing! It also had a counter showing the amount of times it had been used to show the impact. I appreciate little things like that.
I would definitely fly through here again. -
Review from Mariana R.
It is ok... It should be bigger to be the Boston airport. To arrive there is not bad. I received my luggage in good time. And the process was easy. Leaving from there could be a little slow in my opinion. I think they should be better organized for the security checking. The line was large, and didn't go fast. Another thing to consider is that not all stores are open early in the morning. We had a 7am flight, and we arrived to the airport at 5.45am. And the Starbucks was still closed. The only one option we had for early breakfast was dunkin donuts. It was the only place opened at that time.

My favorite thing about this airport is the tons of food options here. Anything from fast food to good sit down places or grab and go salad/sandwich, they have it all!
The airport can be a bit confusing to get to, even with my Garmin and trying to read directional signs. Also, on your way out when you hit the bridge corner that curves left, make sure you slow down. There were police officers at that toll giving everyone a ticket who comes around that curve too fast. That would make a bad day for anyone, not only you pay your toll, now you get stuck with a speeding ticket. -

This was my first time flying through Boston for 5 years, when I used to live there. My god the Silver Line is awesome! Seriously, catching public transportation into the city from the terminal itself was great. It made it easy to get back to the airport, without needing to allow an hour for the Red Line to never show up...
Lots of Dunkin Donuts. If you want anything other than a DD you might have a problem. I like the size of this airport- it is a big, major airport, but is not a monstah like Chicago/DFW/etc.
Also, you can have such a nice view of the bay when taking off and landing. -

I don't know how people rate an airport. But this is where I fly into to see my parents so I'm always excited to arrive here ad always sad to leave.
I fly Virgin America and JetBlue exclusively, so those two terminals are all I have to judge. I LOVE that when I get off the JetBlue flight from California there is a Dunkin Donuts waiting for me. On the other hand, the Virgin terminal sucks. Once you go through TSA there's nothing except for a small food cart which is unfortunate if you have an hour or more to kill before your flight. With that being said, on one occasion one of the TSA people let us go through a different security checkpoint with our Virgin boarding passes (and let us bypass the line) to go in and get food at the foodcourt. So that was awesome. -

I love traveling, and have been flying since I was 7. I have lived in Boston my whole flying career, which makes Logan my Hub :)
I have flown domestically and internationally. I have flown so many airlines including: United, Southwest, American, Delta, Continental, and I'm sure a few more I'm forgetting.
Other than airline delays, I have never had a problem with the airport itself. The staff is usually pretty damn helpful, they have lots of shops and food courts in each terminal, to keep you occupied during your wait or layover. They also have several Dunkins in there, which always puts a smile on my face for those early morning flights. (DO NOT GET A DRINK BEFORE YOU GO THROUGH SECURITY)
The security is OK, I feel like at times they are half asleep doing their jobs, and considering what they do, they should snap out of it, and pay attention. The lines have never been too long for me, I've never waited more than a half an hour, ever.
Most of the bathrooms I have used in the airport are also kept very clean and are well lit. Some of the stalls are a little small (and this is not cool because I like to bring my suitcase in with me, I don't want someone taking my bag or reporting it to security as unattended) but other than that I can't complain.
All in all, I really like this airport, and I love the fact that the T gets me there for under $2 and in about 30-40 minutes. Convenience is key :) -

Woefully inadequate for the size of the airport. You must leave the secured area when transferring between terminals! Allow for extra time because it's like you entering your departing airport all over again. Also TSA personnel at Boston Logan airport are abrasive. They have no concept of the inconvenience of transferring between terminals; they really don't care that you've already checked in and gone through security at least once in another airport on any given day and do nothing to make the process easier for transfers.
It's a bit of a walk between terminals, as it is in many larger airports. The signage is not clear for navigating between terminals and there is no signage in either terminal indicating what food and services are in the other terminal. We found one restaurant at the far end of each terminal. Fast food is immediately inside security. -

The new, to me, changes at Terminal C are quite nice. I noticed there is now a vineyard wine store in addition to all the eateries and shops prior to passing through security. Past security this terminal has also seen a face lift.
My only complaint is the ridiculous elevated price of food items. As I was flying at six in the morning I decided to grab something quick past security. I found prices too high but at this point it was a matter or paying $3.29 for a single plain yogurt or go without food for eight or more hours. What ever happened to Menino's price guarantee? Weren't airport prices supposed to be equal to local grocery store prices? Last time I checked a single cup of stony field plain yogurt is less than $2 at Whole Foods which would be the most expensive.
Free wifi is a plus. -

Not too impressed with this airport. It's not big nor small. Security check in was relatively fast and I got thru in about 5 minutes. It may be that I was flying out on a Thursday afternoon. There are quite a bit of shops and restaurants in the United terminal. They do have nice designated smoking area outside the airport.

Review from Tyler R.
Blah. Logan is good at getting me where I need to go when BDL isn't a viable option, but this place is such a pain to get to.
I've tried it several ways - Park Ride Fly (places of which are in abundance around BDL) is much more limited in quantity, I usually park at Thrifty for an arm and a leg and take a ride in with them.
When I lived in Medford, I did the "orange line red line silver line" danceamajig and that was worse - it took more than an hour just to get there.
Driving in can be a pain with traffic, but nice when there isn't. Honestly, the best experience I've had is driving straight in, parking at terminal B, and coughing up 18 bucks a day. When I came back...my car was right where I left it and I was out and on the Pike in less than 10 minutes. (When you have an E-Z Pass tolls don't seem to matter - but they exist, and are a little steep.)
Once you are IN the airport it isn't that bad, decent food options, not terribly confusing to get around...TSA can be a long line, so get there early.
Otherwise, takeoff and landing are pretty cool, nice city views / water views (depending on which side of the plane you are on) and when you are coming TO Boston to visit, having the T right at the airport is a lot better than taking a cab downtown.
At the very least, a troublesome experience getting to the airport and/or through security can be easily remedied given the abundance of places that will gladly give you a Sam Adams. Take that and combine it with the fact that you can fly direct to quite a few places...and there's your three stars.Listed in: Airports!, It's Boston (and Boston-ish)

I love Logan.
For the unfamiliar traveler at Logan Airport it would be a good idea to plan ahead and look at where you connections will be. There are 4 terminals ( A,B,C, and E)
It can take quite a while to go from one terminal to the next so give yourself plenty of time to connect and keep in mind that most airlines board a half hour prior to the scheduled depature.
If you are going into Logan check out the Logan Express. Great transportation to and from the airport and they have several locations.
Happy Traveling! -

Logan Airport has free wi-fi.
Oh and Security is very effective. but I mean that is a minor detail, right? No joke though, I feel very safe at Boston. Lately the security has taken to asking questions, interview style with the travelers to ensure good intention. so if you are going to make up a story, better make sure it is watertight! The TSA representatives were all so nice and personable, they made me feel less anxious about traveling.
..And there was free wifi.
My flights from Logan have all gone out on time. the one time that we had to deal with inclement weather, the airline representatives were very aware of the situation and updated us constantly. Customer service is great here, unlike some other airports I have been to.
Oh, and Logan has free wifi. -

Back when I had dreadlocks (not very long ago), the TSA thought it appropriate to search my hair both times I'd been through Logan with them. I had never been more mortified in my life than when, AFTER my full-body pat down, which came AFTER my full-body scan, the TSA agent grabbed one dreadlock, pulled on it multiple times, and asked "What is this? Is this hair?" The second time I went through with my locks pulled back into a ponytail, and the TSA agent grabbed my ponytail and yanked my head back to "search" my hair. I was taller than her, but seriously?! I understand that security is tight, but the level to which I have been discriminated against ONLY at Logan Airport is absolutely unacceptable for anyone. Free WiFi and decent bars are certainly a plus, because chances are your plane is going to be late. Make the drive to TF Green, my friends.

Traveling here from San Francisco...
I think this is the smallest (in comparison) out of the three airports I've used. Smaller than SF Int'l and McCarran Airport in Las Vegas. Easy to navigate to and from the city and rental car establishments are easy to find. Good experience in this airport. -
Review from Hilary H.
Yes, you've improved since your decked-out remodel, but you're still Logan Airport.
Your vastness is crippling, your multiple flights confusing, and your baggage claims are brutally slow. Arriving here late night makes me feel as though I've entered the Twilight Zone... into a futuristic world where no one says a word, shops are completely empty, there is no foor and no one is there to assist you but signs or machines. It felt like They Abyss, or Dave's ship from 2001. Creepy.
All that said, you get the job done when my beloved TF Greene can't. Also, you're conveniently located and easily accessible. Other than that, I'll stick to PVD. -
Review from Gerald B.
Burlington, MA
Horrible airport, perhaps with the exception of Terminal E (which would only be 'really bad'). The restaurants and shops are mostly crappy, with the exception of BBW and Cisco.
Logan has opted to get the skin-cancer inducing machines (backscatter X-Ray), instead of the more sensible Terahertz scanners. That alone puts *any* airport to a maximum of 3 stars, since this means that I have to go for the freedom grope every time I fly.
However, what annoys me most is the complete inability of the bagage handlers to get the bags out of the plane onto the carousels in less than 45 minutes. Almost EVERY time it seems just too much for them to get up from their permanent coffee break and do their job in time. It gets particularly annoying when the cabin crew announces the bags to be on belt B, the monitors say belt D, a bag person yells that they are on belt A, and in reality they come out on belt C (as in Golf).
Then, pickup for chartered cars is always on the wrong level, presumably to demonstrate that Massport does not like Limos and their patrons.
Finally, WiFi coverage and plug availability is just not there, and if you actually do get a signal, VPN software does not work.
If it wasn't that Manchester took an extra 40 minutes to get there, I would avoid Logan altogether.
